  1. Glad to know the answer to the op’s question as well just booked Getaway last night and due to MIL health we need to have our phones available to receive iMessage, email, and fb messenger. Another question...has anyone used their phone as a mobile hotspot so a second device could be used?

If you only need it for those tasks, you don't need the premium wifi. The basic wifi will work fine. If you can get away without email, then the social media option is all you will need.

  2. The Free At Sea WiFi perk (250 minutes) can be upgraded across the fleet to basic wifi or premium wifi. The Free at Sea Perk (250 Min) is valued at $125 (which is the actual package price if you paid for it in cash).

Upgrade to premium wifi for $120

Upgrade to basic wifi upgrade for $90

When I was on the Breakaway this past spring, I had no problems checking email, streaming youtube/netflix videos, or music. It buffered sometimes, but I've had worse service using some hotel wifi across the country (in big cities).

  3. I wasn't sure where to post this suggestion, but wouldn't it make sense to create a an "NCL FAQ" stickied thread that has answers to the common questions: UDP, SDP, Bottled Water, Access Desk information, etc.)?

I realize that people can search for the answers or that others in the community repeatedly answer the questions (without complaining), it just seems that a FAQ thread would help minimize the amount of repeated Q/A that appears on the forum.

  4. I understand completely what the previous posters are saying. What I am saying is that most savvy ncl latitudes cruisers will know immediately that ncl has raised prices disproportionately to other lines as well as to previous ncl prices

Case in point....ncl to Carib in April 2019 is much much more expensive than rccl to Carib in 2019

Similar dates and itins (well actually better than ncl)

I may not be as savvy as many other cruisers on this site, but could it be that NCL is quoting rates that won't fluctuate as much as their competitors?

I recently sailed the BA out of NY and booked it less than 30 days out. When I started to price options out, NCL was significantly cheaper across all room categories as compared to the RCCL out of NJ.

    Just my observation.

  5. My wife used it a few weeks ago. We have android phones, so I can't answer anything iOS related.

Facebook and FB Messenger worked great to communicate, not only with each other, but also with family/friends back home. However, videos embedded in FB did not work (streaming is not supported on this package)

Email apps did NOT work. She has a couple and neither worked until we got to port and she was able to turn data on.

She doesn't use other social media platforms, so I can't comment on how well they work.

  6. My wife and I booked our BA cruise less than a month from sail date, so we didn't have the opportunity to book 90 days out and it worked out fine for us (we just got back about on 3/18).

If you are a "go with the flow" type person, then you will be able to book everything onboard (except for Cagney's). This is especially true if you want to see the shows at the 9pm time slot on the 2nd night performance (plenty of open seats for both). In terms of restaurants, I would book a reservation for each night as a backup (so you know you won't have to wait), then you can adjust on the fly each day depending on everyone's mood vs availability.

  7. My wife and I were also on this cruise. It is interesting to hear different peoples perspectives on food, service, and other services.

I had one incident with a group of spring breakers at Dueling Pianos one night. This one guy had diarrhea of the mouth while the guys were playing, so I finally turned on them and told them to move their conversation outside as the rest of us in the area were there for the music and not to listen to them. He did apologize and the group of them moved to the back wall of the club (then left 10 minutes later).

  8. If you do not have a charge card, I would get a visa/American express card that you can place Money on. If you can, I would get one and put $1000 on it and use that for your card, Anything you don't spend you put right back in the bank.

    THIS ^^^^.

Get a re-usable\re-loadable gift card (VISA\AMEX\MASTERCARD). Load it with whatever you think you need money wise (with a little padding for unforeseen expenses) and use that to establish your onboard account.

At the end of the week if you do owe, then you can use your debit card to settle your account.

  9. Thank you very much for the detailed info. I prebooked the Unlimited Premium Package and was hoping to be able to make WiFi calls. Do you think this might be possible? We have only one device that will be connected all the time.

    Thanks again.
