  1. With all the complaints about the inaugural cruise on the Quantum, a lot of them seem predetermined and avoidable. Many people complained about booking show reservations and dining....well if you didn't want a rigid schedule during your vacation, then why did you book this ship? Many people complained they wanted the same waiters and servers every night...with Dynamic dining it was known that you wouldn't have the same waiter every night like traditional dining. Lines for the north star and ifly? Yes you will have to wait just like when you wait for a ride at a theme park. When you have a attraction that can only accommodate a certain amount of people at a time, yes you will be waiting just like when you go to Disney World and wait for a ride for almost an hour or more. Again, rides there break down too, it is frustrating but isn't your safety more important?

As far as technology not working 100%, it happens. Again, the first few sailings on a brand new ship will have its flaws especially in this area. Why book the Quantum if you know that first sailings are shakedown cruises?

I really hate when you read reviews and all you read are the negatives of the cruise and nothing positive.

The one thing I think is a legitimate complaint is the lack of activities which stems down to the cruise director being lazy. No quest, belly flop contest, sailawayparty, love and marriage, 70s? Jimmy Rhodes--shame on you!!

I'm guessing some people are just so unhappy with life in general that they just focus on the negatives. A vacation is what you make of it.

When life throws you lemons, move on and make lemonade. Don't dwell in it and be so sour. :D

  2. I also think people who sailed on the 2 night cruise were probably a disappointed because of the high prices with little return. If I was not able to get into a restaurant and pay I think I saw 600 for a two night cruise, I would be upset. Again, everyone was probably trying to cram as much stuff in as possible in 2 nights. I'm excited to go on my cruise on Dec 12, hopefully most of the kinks have been worked out by then!

  3. Was just browsing around and saw this article about a hotel on the cliff in South Korea. When I saw the pictures, it reminded me of one of Royal Caribbeans older ships. What stood out was on top there is something that looks like the Viking Crown and also the back looks very similar to the Monarch and Sovereign.

It's called the Sun Cruise hotel. Thoughts?

  4. Since RCI owns Celeberty look for the change to go there to!

    Princess or Cunard anyone?

Looks like Celebrity is also following NCL's Haven idea for the ship within a ship concept. Seriously, Are Royal and NCL merging companies? I wonder after RCL laid off all those people in the head office, did they bring on former team NCL members?

  5. Seems like Royal caribbean is following in the footsteps of Norwegian cruise line with their "dynamic dining" aka freestyle cruising with no set seatings and different waiters every night. This is the approach for the new quantum class ships.A lot of the places on their restaurant list are for fee. This is ashame because most loyal royals prefer to have the same waiters every night and the same table. With this, you will not be able to meet new people as tablemates. This is a bad direction for royal to follow the footsteps of NCL. They will lose many of their loyal customers if they turn the entire fleet this way. I feel like RCCL has been copying NCL for the past few years and losing its image in the process.

  6. Hey all!

I will be cruising on the Explorer this upcoming Sunday and was wondering if people in the same cabin can check in at different times? I will be arriving and checking in around 12 but my friend cannot make it to the pier until 1:30. Am I able to check myself in or do I have to wait for him and then check in?

Also the departure time is 4pm. What is the latest he can check in?

Thanks everyone for your help! =)

  7. Oceanview definitely. Although it's nice to people watch from the boardwalk balconies...but that damn bell that they ring for the carousel every 5 minutes can get frustrating if you are trying to get in a mid day nap. Central Park balconies where my parents stayed gets VERY hot because there is not much air circulation since it is in the middle of the ship. Unless you go in the winter months..this could be good. It is very tranquil and beautiful at night. But my vote is also for the oceanview!

  8. My friends and I are sailing on the Oasis on Aug 25th and according to the "scheduled" roll outs of the new menu, this is the date for the Oasis. However, when I called Royal Caribbean, they said they were not informed about any new menu changes for the Oasis at that time. Even though I would like to see the menu change, after reading the posts, I prefer to stick to the old menu for the upcoming cruise.
