I think they should set aside one dining room for those who want formal. Yes there should be the same food in all.

I take the tube too. In every day life we do not always have choices available and have to go about our life/business. We do have choices when choosing a two week holiday and therefore some places are off limits for me. Despite meaningless stats I feel reasonably safe in the USA. Aside from the obvious dangers in Europe I don't want to spend my holiday watching hordes of people sleeping rough at the Ports, not exactly a pleasurable experience is it.

Yes, we were all inclusive and the outhouse was part of the package. Opens around 12.30 pm.
-
I agree as well:D
-
We spent two weeks at that hotel. It is ok. But don't think it is worth getting a day pass. Food is much better on the ships:) There are plenty of equally good beaches close to the port.

Years ago I used to wonder if some posters were stalking me and then realised they were just replying to everyone;) some high posters have great info' but the frequent posts when some reply yes what the last person said gets repetitive and boring.

The reason why cruises are relatively cheap now is because of all the side kicks. They rely on new cruisers spending on "art", buying from Diamonds International, endless photos, speciality dining and the casino players. As I am not into any of these it keeps my prices down:)

Lots of other attractions around, if you have the time.

The Husband has not yet made contact with the authorities.
Perhaps she has early dementia.

First of all - WHERE in Europe? Europe isn't just one country.
And by the same token - should I cancel a holiday to tourist areas in California in the wake of the gun attack in Washington DC?
Just saying
Good point. We went to Nice shortly after the Charlie attack.
You could always tour Greece and meet different cultures.

Unnecessary fear mongering…
Because activities commencing from Incirlik Air Base in southern Turkey started back in the Fall, those in the area were being asked to voluntarily leave. It just now became an "withdrawal" of the families. That base is used for initiating fighter activity into Syria and Iraq. The diplomatic families are moving from the Consulate area in Adana. Adana is in SE Turkey, near the Syrian border.
This does NOT affect US personnel in any other part of Turkey, including Ankara, Istanbul…
I don't believe any tourist will be wandering around SE Turkey...
According to the BBC families are being moved from Istanbul, Izmir on the Mediterranean and another whose name I can't remember.

In the UK travel insurance won't provide cover if the Government put out a specific advice not to travel to a certain area. We were just about to fly to Kenya when riots broke out after an election, UK advised against travel, we did manage to get specialist insurance....at about 300% more cost.
Some travel insurance does not cover terrorist attacks, civil unrest etc. Check the small print.

America is withdrawing families of diplomatic and military staff in Turkey.
-
As do we, I know they have a job to do but I can get irritated waiting in line to bypass them.
Me too. Happens when embarking in ports too. Some cruise lines are worse than others.

I wondered when the racist card was going to be played:rolleyes:
Read plenty on these threads complaining about beach sellers in the Carribean.
Perhaps America should help out and take the same as Germany has.

You've been there, seen this, personal experience, spoken with the refugees from war-torn Syria? Have you been to Lesbos, Kos, Idomeni, Athens?
I don't know why I am wasting my time answering this tosh but maybe we get more reports here in Europe. I have been to Lesbos previously, small place that has thousands of migrants landing their every day. Bound to have an impact, seen it in Germany too. Spoken to any refugees...er no:p according to reports only about 30% of the arrivals are from Syria, the rest being economic migrants.BTW bookings for Lesbos are 90% down. Perhaps you could go there and make a stand.:D

Or better still just don't buy at all. USA is cheaper.
-
No. Still plan to go to Greece in Sept/Oct.
Greece is relatively safe, as long as you don't mind loads of migrants wandering around with their hand out.
-
THEY want to disrupt our / your lives, THEY want you to boycott towns / Cities / Countries.....
Changing travel plans means THEY have won....:(
just saying'
ISIS are winning anyway. whilst we are lighting candles and singing peace songs with a wringing of hands they are plotting the next scene of death and destruction.
Wouldn't have wanted to be in Brussels this weekend.
-
You should have said that then, we aren't mind readers:rolleyes: extra Police in London and airports are very visible.
-
Would have been nice spending this weekend in Brussels. Not a great place at the best of time. Full of beggars.
-
Scented candles I bought in port at St. Kitts. Not returnable either. Wonder what they do with them.

I have just had an email from a friend in the US asking if it is true that armed police are patrolling the streets of every town and city in Europe and are we frightened of going out?
NO!!! Life goes on as usual with no noticeable increased police presence and no sense of fear.
Please don't change your plans, observe the same awareness as you would be in any US city and have a wonderful trip.
Personally I would hope there was increased Police presence. Certainly has been in London.

I'm actually shocked that this European based individual who wrote the quoted article was shocked tha Brussels was attacked. In November just after the Paris attack Brussels was basically shut down for a couple of days. I knew that and I live in Canada.
There was also an attack on. Jewish museum in Belgium about a year ago. 4 people killed by Kalashnikov carriers.
Anyone else stressing about the Travel Alert to Europe?
