  1. My "emotional support" dog is a 120 pound Rottweiler. She is almost nine years old, which is pretty old for a Rottweiler. In her old age she has gotten a little grumpy. She doesn't like other dogs or most people and really hates cats but she does give me emotional support. I guess she would be OK to bring on the ship? (Just kidding - I never would bring an animal on a cruise ship)

  2. I have not been on one of the Oasis class ships but that will change in May 2019 when I go on the Symphony. Are there formal nights on the Symphony? If so, is it through all the dining venues? I know the buffet is normally exempt from Formal Nights but I don't like being delegated to the buffet just because I don't want to play dress up.

  3. When I am on a vacation in the Caribbean, I do not want to wear even a sports jacket and certainly not a tie. In the evening, I would like to wear jeans but I do agree to wear slacks and a decent shirt. Cruising has changed from what it was even ten or fifteen years ago. Like the dinosaur, formal nights should become extinct or be limited to very specific areas. I still don't understand why the cruise lines insist that it is all or nothing. If you have a three story MDR, why not designate one floor for formal nights and let everyone else eat in comfort?

  4. We are going to be in a junior suite on the Symphony in May 2019. I wonder if the night stands next to the beds have outlets near them yet or it's the standard one set of outlets for the entire room? We both use CPAPs and the nightly setting up the extension chords is an irritation that could be easily resolved. If they can't do wall outlets why not use lamps with built in outlets like some hotels have? Thanks!

  5. I was a little surprised by your comment about the quality of the fish dinners. On past RCL ships, the MDR beef was frequently tough and/or tasteless and the fish was mostly very well prepared, so I ate a lot of fish. We go on the Symphony in May of 2019. It will be interesting to see how their meat and fish preparation develops. Thanks for a great review!

  6. If you are on a Celebrity Alaska Cruise/Tour - does the Tour portion (Land Based) include meals like it does when you're on the ship? OR, do you have to pay separately for the land based meals? Additionally, I am just assuming that the transportation (trains, busses, etc.) and the overnight stays in various hotels or lodges, would be included in the cost of the Cruise/Tour. I'm trying to figure out what my actual costs would be and I don't find these details to be clearly laid out.

  7. If you are on a Princess Alaska Cruise/Tour - does the Tour portion (Land Based) include meals like it does when you're on the ship? OR, do you have to pay separately for the land based meals? 8. Compromise has become such a dirty word. Many (most?) of the RCCL ships have multi-level MDRs. Why would it be so difficult to ask in your cruise documents if you prefer formal or casual dining and then, based on the numbers, assign people to eat at a dining room floor that is identified as formal or casual. That way, everyone can be happy and get their lobster tails too - without being told to get thee to the Windjammer.

  9. This past January I DID win a cruise playing the final bingo on a Liberty of the Seas cruise. It was for 7-9 nights in an interior or ocean view cabin. I paid to upgrade it and we are taking a very inexpensive 9 night Southern Caribbean cruise in a junior suite on the Navigator of the Seas in January. You might say it was a really suite deal!

  10. Well, per the excellent advice above, I did call Royal Caribbean and, lo and behold, it is a Royal Caribbean glitch (their term) that they are working on now and they're not sure when it will be fixed. RCCL is also having an issue with some customers not being able to get into the "My Cruises" section of the website. So, I guess, it's not a "me" glitch after all.
