  1. We are keeping our options open at this stage, not having to decide until we board, however another option is to purchase some wine in Singapore, where the prices are reasonable and pay the corkage.

    Hi Dot.

Where in Singapore are wine prices reasonable? I'll bookmark it for my next visit.

  2. My iphone has an app called Tiny Scanner. It is free for 2 pages. You may email or fax documents with this app. Take a picture of the document you wish to send, check it for size and brightness, and then move on to choose in what form you want to send the document, and then to who.

Thanks for this, I'll give it a try.

  3. We were sailing on Grand a couple of years ago in the Med and docked at Civitavecchia. I went ashore for a stroll and ended up buying two bottles of Sambuca for next to nothing at a supermarket I passed.

These were to take home for presents so when I returned to the ship I mentioned to security I had a couple of bottles of spirit that i was happy for them to "confiscate" and I would pick them up at the end of the cruise. They weren't interested and told me to keep them in the cabin. Suffice to say only one bottle found its way home.:D

  4. Couple of years since we sailed on Princess, what is their current happy hour offering? Last time we sailed with them there were two Happy Hours a day 4-5pm and 10-11pm, buy one get a second for a dollar. Sessions got very lively.

    Is it still the same?

  5. Yes it's weird. When I cruise on HAL or P&O I email my shareholder details through but Princess still demand snail mail or fax (which I don't have access to). Wonder why this is when they are part of the same parent company?

  6. Hi

We've just booked a cruise in January 2019 sailing on HAL Amsterdam out of Los Angeles. I'm looking for a hotel near the cruise terminal for a pre cruise stay but I'm not clear from the booking if this ship sails out of Long Beach or San Pedro.

Can any seasoned HAL cruisers help me out here?

    Many thanks

  7. This is really helpful, thanks for posting. The wine menu doesn't specify what wine it is ie USA Merlot. we were on Diamond Princess last year and they had two USA Merlot's, one was very good the other one was barely drinkable. Several times I asked for the decent one and the waiter brought the other one, lost count of the number I had to change at the bar.

I notice they have a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, can anyone advise which one it was? On Princess they had Nobilo which was a lovely glass of wine but our group consumed bottles of it and they ran out halfway through the cruise.

  8. CPS at a tenner a day are too expensive, we tried Penguin but had to wait ages for a bus to the port although they were much quicker when we disembarked. Read some good reviews on Airlynx Cruise Parking just off J5 of the M27 near Soton Airport, 15 minute transfer to Port, will try them next time we sail out of Southampton.

  9. Great Live review Mr T. Never came across you on board - chatted one day to a Spurs fan in a Kane shirt at the pool bar who was laughing about the Gooners finishing fifth in a three horse race.:D

For the folk who are asking about shows we only missed one 7pm show as we always went before late dining in the MDR. We've been on 26 cruises on various lines and the shows were the best we've seen. Ashlie Amber who performed the Whitney Houston tribute show was amazing. Lovely girl, had a chat with her in the Sky Lounge one night - she was leaving the ship at the end of the cruise to embark on a solo career. Look out for her.

  10. Just disembarked from CP. Terrible sewage smell in our cabin when we embarked on 30 May. Reported it immediately, they changed the filters whatever that means and we were okay after that.

Smell was frankly disgusting, if they hadn't sorted it we were planning to sleep out on the open deck.

  11. We had a great waiter on Grand to Hawaii in January. As the Happy Hour was only in the Wheelhouse and we were up on the Sun deck he made 2 or 3 trips down to the Wheelhouse between 3 and 4 on sea days for our cold bud lights.

He didn't seem to mind either as he wasn't exactly run off his feet up there as hardly anyone was drinking, whereas the Wheelhouse was rammed, you couldn't find a seat.

Also looked after us in the Nightclub between 2300-midnight. Saved us a few $$'s on our final bar bill and got himself a decent tip at cruise end.
