  1. On the Sky in December we didn't receive any Vodka. I inquired about it and was told that they were out of the small bottles, but that if I wanted Vodka, they could provide it, but I would have to trade in 4 of the small bottles. I am a vodka girl, so it wasn't an issue to trade in my 3 gin and a cognac. The Absolute Vodka I received was 375ml.

I was on Caribbean Princess for New Year, and there was Karaoke on most nights, subject to strict rules:

     - you had to wear a mask while singing (which sounds dreadful, but was actually OK)

     - they had two microphones, and one was sanitised while the other was in use

     - solo singers only, no duets or groups

     - you had to stay in the middle of the dance floor far from the guests in the venue

It was very popular with some great singers.

There were actually multiple duets/groups, even backup dancers on our NYE  cruise.

Wow! AT&T tells me that all of their plans come with free WiFi Calling. The only restriction would be if your phone does not have WiFi Calling.

That is not necessarily true. Their plans all include Wifi Calling IF you purchased your phones with them. At one point, when we had AT&T we purchased OnePlus phones, directly from the manufacturer and the phones did have Wifi Calling capabilities, however, AT&T blocked it  because it was not an ATT branded phone. I am not sure if they changed things as we switched from ATT a couple years ago, but just something to keep in mind if you did not get your phone from them, or it is not on some proscribed list.

Nice.  What did you have to do to make all that happen?  The only thing I've found is a Celebration selection under her profile on the app.

I put it  in our reservation (a TA can add it on onesource, or call Princess as I was not able to find where to do it on the website now). We also talked with Passenger Services about upgrading our sons' from an inside once we boarded, but decided against it, however, we realized that their cabin was a 4 person which had the bunks right above their beds, so we still asked if they could move over 1 cabin. When we never heard back, we went back to Passenger Services, and they asked us, again, if we were celebrating anything, and we told them. That is when the wine appeared, then later the rose petals.

  5. We just celebrated my husband's birthday, our son's college graduation and our 25th Anniversary on the Sky on our NYE cruise. We got the cards for the celebratory cakes in the dining room, and for our anniversary, as well as a bottle of wine in our cabin for my husband and in my sons' cabin for our graduate. Also, when my husband and I came back to our cabin after port one day to find this, and there was also a bottle of wine, which I am not sure you can see. We didn't pay for any of it.

  6. My kids are now 23 and 22 and we have been cruising since they were 7 and 8. All but one have been on Princess, and most of the cruises my in-laws have joined us as well. Princess seems to have something for everyone in our family. My kids really loved the kids camps (even before they were revamped) and my younger son had a blast in the teen center whereas my older one, once he hit about 16 used it to find others his age to hang out at the pool and such with.

We are about a month from our planned Enchanted cruise, and have been searching the page for any examples of changed itineraries or outright dropped stops.  I am not particularly interested in a 10 day cruise to nowhere.  I appreciate sharing your experiences. Thanks.

Well, here's another perspective. I just got off the Sky Princess yesterday. We were on an 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise with 6 ports. We made every port as scheduled. In fact, we were supposed to be tendered in Grenade, but due to another ship being denied docking in Grenada, we were able to dock instead. So, yes, you need to be flexible at this point, but what we are hearing are the changes and cancellations, but not when cruises go on as scheduled.

I actually had the beef tenderloin last night, it was delicious!

  9. Oh I get it. My younger son graduated from Virginia Tech on 12/17, we board the Sky on the 28th. We were very careful about wearing masks and picking our seats for the ceremony where everyone was wearing masks (even though the university made numerous announcements that they were required, so took them off as soon as they sat down). Luckily, we all tested negative today.

Also, according to Princess, Exceptions may apply for asymptomatic guests that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the 90 days prior to embarkation, but not less than 10 days prior to embarkation, and are fully recovered. Guests will need to provide a letter of recovery from their doctor and, laboratory test results that were taken at least 10 or more days prior to embarkation, and not older than 90 days.

So, if you test positive more than 10 days prior, you may still be able to sail.

Mark Twain said the the coldest winter he ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco.

Some years ago I was on a business trip to San Francisco.  I know it was in July and I think it was for three or four days.  I was joined there by two colleagues from Ohio.  This was prior to the "business casual" standard of dress.  So, we wore suits for meetings at the customer site.  It turned out that the only casual clothes that my colleagues brought were, well, resort casual.  "We thought we were coming to California."  They were very uncomfortable walking to dinner in the evening.

Yes, there is supposed to be some headed your way.  It is supposed to be down here in SoCzl tomorrow morning, and it looks like we're going to get quite a few storms for the next week.

I'm enjoying your posts, very much, @Coral.  Thank you, very much.

I lived in the SF Bay Area for 12 years. One time, some friends and I were celebrating a birthday in San Francisco. We took BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from where we lived in Fremont to SF. It was 80+ degrees when we left Fremont. 35 miles north in SF was about 60. We literally walked out of the BART station, walked across the street and into Gap to buy jackets.

Wondering if anyone that has been on a recent cruise knows if Princess is allowing medically exempt passengers without vaccine onboard and if so, are these passengers being subject to extra testing and are they easily identifiable to crew and passengers.

From what I understand, Princess is allowing a SMALL amount of medically exempt passengers without vaccines onboard. According to the website "Even if you've received a vaccination exemption, you're still required to take a negative PCR test within two days of embarkation and will be tested again in the terminal before boarding the ship and again within 24 hours of disembarkation (for itineraries five days or longer). Unvaccinated guests will be charged $150 per person for testing and administration."

Yeah, we're supposed to be on the Caribbean Princess two weeks from tomorrow. I feel like with these skyrocketing cases, anything is now possible. The first "hurdle" will be to see if my family of four all tests negative two days prior. We're all vaxxed, and we mask up regularly, but who even knows at this point whether it's enough.

We board the Sky on the 28th and we are also concerned about the 4 of us testing negative prior to. We max up everywhere and are not only vaxxed, but boosted, but, my youngest graduated from Virginia Tech yesterday, so I am hoping that our precautions helped us to not get sick.

Sounds like Princess is giving us an early 'heads-up' as to what the next "fully vaccinated" expectation/requirement will be for passengers.

So glad that I and my family members moved quickly to get the booster early on when the CDC  strongly suggested it, rather than after they officially recommended the booster.

We did the same. In fact, we got our sons' their boosters when they first came home for Thanksgiving so that they were past the 2 weeks for our younger sons graduation this Friday as well as our cruise on the 28th.

Those jars of nuts are a "high touch" item by everyone; thus a covid problem

It could also have to do with nut allergies. If someone gets the oils on their hands from eating them and touches the bar, if someone with a severe enough allergy touches the oils it could cause them to get extremely sick.

So is the difference that PVP / CVP can do it within Princess (don't have to ask) whereas TAs cannot? Perhaps tied to commission??

Bottom line now that I'm having a mini-suite-- book the lowest room you want and hope for an upgrade. For me that's mid aft or mid forward balcony hope for mid ship deluxe or premium balcony.

Just to clear the air (and I apologize if I am not supposed to say this, but given the response, I felt it was necessary to state) but I am a TA. I did have to call Princess for this given that it is after final payment and on top of the price reduction there is a bit of a commission recall because of it, but between our cabin and our sons', it still made sense. Personally, if a client called me 2 weeks prior to travel and said that their cruise fare dropped and asked me if I would contact Princess about a reduction, I would do it, even with the recall, but that is me. Also, there have been times that I  have called and only been offered OBC after price reduction.

  16. I actually just refared 2 cabins (mine and my sons') for our 28 December cruise. We lost some OBC that was attached to the promotion we booked under, but Princess was able to refare it for us, no problem. I will be getting a refund for the difference back to my credit card.

  17. On our 28 December cruise we are celebrating my husband's and my 25th anniversary as well as our son's college graduation. I had put both of them into the cruise personalizer when we booked, but they are not showing up anywhere that I can see, either on the website of the app. Do they remove it from the site close to sailing or should I call them about it. As a note, we just transferred for 2023 from a S. American cruise to an Asian cruise and the special occasions are listed there, but they need to be changed.
