  1. I don't have my reading glasses, so please forgive me... I will do an additional update.

Code red has been lifted and we are able to serve ourselves.

I have not used room service yet.

We are in Cabo today and, once again, we will not be going ashore today. I think I will be taking my hubby straight to the hospital from the port... It truly is a beautiful day in Cabo San Lucas.

So sorry to hear that he is not doing well...hope he is feeling better soon.

Try to enjoy the rest of your cruise.

  2. Thanks for your responses! I'm sure that we'll figure it out!

A few years ago, we sailed NCL in Hawaii and they offered golf excursions thru the ship...over priced but very convenient. Princess doesn't offer : (

  3. Hi all

Does anyone know of a good golf course close to where the ships dock in Hilo? We are hoping to take a SHORT cab ride there.

Also, in Honolulu, has anyone played the Pearl course. What are your thoughts? How far from pier?

    Thanks

  4. We just got back from a Princess cruise, and we find the food better on Carnival! The last time that I sailed Princess the food was good, but this time it was tasteless and over-cooked for the most part. The buffet was not kept up well in the evening (food needed to be stirred or something!)

Like everyone has said...different people have different tastes and also, some sailings are better than others.

  5. Not sure about the Crown but our Island (Panama Canal) cruise leaves next week and we are going to see

Godzilla (2014): Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe. Directed by Gareth Edwards. PG-13, 123 min.

Maleficent (2014): Starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning. Directed by Robert Stromberg. PG, 97 mins.

And we are on the Golden next week and have the same movies....so I guess they all show the same thing!

  6. Hi! I am reading a bunch of other posts in other OBC threads that people are cruising for practically nothing because their OBC amount is just a few dollars shy of what they paid at time of booking the cruise (fare plus tax) itself.

Example (I'm just using using random numbers here)

paid for cruise including tax: $523

    received an OBC for: $500

    Cruising for: $23

So, as I understand it, and correct me if I am wrong, the OBC also is applied to the cruise fare? And not just what you purchase as far as excursions (pre-booked) and onboard stuff? That's what people are posting and leading me to believe, so I am confused with that.

I just booked my cruise for $300 and received a $200 OBC. I don't consider myself cruising for $100. I consider myself just receiving $200 off any excursions or other items that appear on my onboard account. I'm still paying $300.

What am I missing here or not getting?

I look at things the same way you do. I think it makes people feel better to think that they are taking a "free" trip!

  7. We will be staying 2 nights in San Pedro before our February cruise. We will not have a car, and from previous posts it looks like the Doubletree is rather far (for walking) from pharmacy, grocery, restaurants, etc. and that the Crowne Plaza is better located. The reviews of the Doubletree are better. Any advice? Thanks.

I have only stayed at the Doubletree. It was quite nice. It is not convenient to anything, but the restaurant inside the hotel was very good. Shuttle to the pier was "seamless"...I'll be staying there again for my next cruise in 2015!

  8. I have the same question about day-use rooms at hotels along Waikiki Beach... and I'd rather ask my very helpful Cruise Critic friends than spend hours calling individual hotels. I think this is the WONDERFUL thing about Cruise Critic... helpful first-hand information and sharing instead of the cold, impersonal searches on Google.

So... if any of our Cruise Critic community would like to share some knowledge, PLEASE do... Thanks In Advance :D

when we cruised Hawaii, the Hilton Hawaiian Village offered a day room (that was 2 years ago)....not sure if they still do.

    have fun

  9. we used ricky's tour at the beginning of this month. It was terrific. He was knowledgeable and fun! We had 6 people in the van, it was $60 per person, which we paid at the end of the tour.

    I would recommend them.

  10. i just booked the doubletree san pedro because they have a FABULOUS sleep/park package. We are cruising for 15 days, and they will keep the car there and offer free shuttle to the pier.

they are rated the same as the Crowne Plaza on trip advisor, so I figured it would be fine for 1 night.
