  1. I placed two orders within the past month and did not receive a confirmation email. According to the representative I spoke to on the phone, if you placed an order online within the past few weeks, you did not receive an email due to some glitch with the system. Not sure if the issue has been resolved, but print the confirmation screen for backup just incase.

The Fun Shops online/telephone purchases will never appear in your cruise documents. They do not want to ruin any surprises.

Thank you!!! At least I know it's not just me!!

  2. I'm 2 weeks pre-cruise and I finally am over a 4-week sinus infection. I was starting to worry that I was going to be taking it with me!

What I'm a little cautious of now is injuring myself before we go. One year I broke my right elbow the week before a planned cruise. Last year I broke my leg 3 weeks before going to an all-inclusive in Cancun. Last night I climbed on a step stool to clean some vents and thought to myself "are you CRAZY?" I'm normally not reckless...just a little unlucky before vacations!!

  3. That's usually all I got after ordering. I specified a date to be delivered, usually the first day, and always received the order on time.

Print out and bring the confirmation just in case.

Thanks for the reply! I printed it out and am including it with my cruise "stuff". I understand why the purchase isn't included with my cruise docs as it could be gifted by someone, but I am surprised Carnival didn't send a confirmation email.

    Thanks again!

  4. I purchased some items to be delivered to our room for our Breeze cruise in a couple of weeks. I printed out the initial order confirmation from online, but I haven't yet received any type of emailed confirmation and I also don't see anything on our cruise docs referencing my purchase.

I've also tried searching Carnival's website for a place that allows me to look up the order by confirmation #--but no luck.

To those that have purchased something to be delivered to your room...do you get some type of confirmation other than the initial confirmation you get online when you place the order?

    TIA

  5. I was curious as to how they chose the winner. Random or based on their answer? One person commented that a man won one prize and his wife won another. Makes you wonder how "random" the winners were chosen.

Anyways...I never win anything but did participate in hoping maybe my luck would turn around. It didn't. Is it just me or does it seem that some people just plain lucky and seem to win all the time??

  6. A couple of years ago my daughter and mine's room was one of the two "chosen" rooms on the ship to have to go through the thorough custom's screening process when leaving the ship.

I always use the one week pill dispenser...mainly because sometimes I forget whether or not I've taken my pills sometimes, and also because, due to my insurance coverage, I have to do the mail order which sends large bottles to cover a 3-month supply.

Anyways...the customs personnel scrutinized my pill case. Thankfully they let me go, but was basically told to consider myself lucky as I could have gotten into trouble. They were very nice about it....but it had me shaken in my shoes for a minute or two.

They also questioned my daughter's carton of cigarettes she bought on the ship. Something about them (can't remember exactly what they had said) could have also given us issues. Thankfully she has since quit smoking so we won't have to worry about it on our Christmas cruise! :D

  7. CVS and Walgreens sell wine and will be open that late.

Blue...you're from Fort Lauderdale?? How about I give you our wine order and you can deliver it to our hotel for us?? :D ;) Kidding aside, thanks for the suggestion. Maybe the hotel shuttle driver would be nice enough to make a stop when we're heading to the hotel!

  8. You could go early to board your ship. Then, disembark and take a taxi to Total Wine off 17th St. However, your wine might get confiscated at security check in. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion Nana. I think once I get on the ship I'm not leaving...at least not until we pull into the ports of call. The bottle of wines aren't that important to me...I just thought if we could take some on board with us we could have a glass while getting ready for dinner.

    Thanks again!

  9. Hoping someone can tell me if Ft. Lauderdale currently allows wine sales on Sunday mornings?

I Googled it and found some articles in 2011 saying no, but more recent articles (2013) stated they were thinking about changing the laws. Our flight will be arriving at 11PM the night before and we plan on using the hotel shuttle to take us to the hotel. The next morning we'll take a taxi to the port. Was hoping we could buy some wine on the way.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

  10. Silly question...are their plates cooked as ordered? I hate runny egg yokes. Would love to try the huevos rancheros, but even the sight of the runny yokes in the pic makes my stomach turn. Would also love to try the eggs benedict, but I FEAR the runny yokes!! :D Can we order them cooked well or hard?

ETA: 5 cruises so far on Carnival and I have yet to try their brunch! I might have to check it out on the Christmas cruise!

  11. Hi, I am booked on the Breeze for February 2nd.. I am in room 11234... I have just noticed that the Spa is above my cabin.

Has anyone stayed in this room before? If so what was the noise like from up above?

    Thanks

I have room 11234 on my Dec. 20th sailing on the Breeze--when I look on the floor plan it seems we are below the men's locker room / sauna. I knew it at the time I booked the room but didn't think there would be that much of a noise issue. I hope I'm write!! At the very least, I would think the noise, if any, would be during the daytime when we're out and about anyways!

ETA: realized after I posted this that the original post was from 2012. MMARCHE: how did you like the room? Any noise issues?

  12. Fantasy Class ships do not have hair dryers in the cabins except in suites. But it is no great loss as the hair dryers are very underpowered and you have to hold the button to operate.

I'm not a big fan of the hair dryers either...but I normally use what's in the ship because I overpack my suitcase with everything else!! I really need to get a handle on that!! HA!

  13. Do you have plans for your bags?

Head to South Beach. You could be dropped off on Collins or Ocean Dr or Lincoln. The area is very walkable. So if you are dropped around 15th st you can hit all the areas of interest by foot. Take a look at South Beach web sites and you'll see what I mean. Your daughter will for sure want to return to experience the area after dark.

Yes cabs are available...I'd catch one right on Collins or in front of any of the MANY hotels.

You could also cab to MIA for $24+tip, store your bags there (cannot check them with hte airline until 3-4 hours before your flight) and then catch the airport flyer bus to South Beach for $2.35 each.

My original thought was to pay to have Carnival take them to the airport for me (express luggage I think it's called?)...and then take a cab.

Also like JohninDC's idea too. I'll look into that! Thanks!

  14. Our flight doesn't leave from Miami until 7:45 PM the day we disembark from our cruise. I was planning on catching a cab from the port and heading with my daughter to Miami Beach for the day. I would assume it would be easy to catch a cab from the beach to get to the airport, but could anyone please confirm?

I know Miami Beach is huge...I'm still undecided as to what part we will go to. My daughter is 24. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great as well.

    Thank you!

  15. I just booked a bargain for a pre-cruise stay at a hotel on Miami Beach. The website says it's about a 15 minute drive to the port of Miami.

Anyone have any idea of the taxi fare from Miami Beach to the port of Miami? There's 2 of us. Or does anyone else have any recommendations for other transportation? Thanks!
