We did one for our 25th but my TA assisted us with all the planning - we thought the RCI package was a bit steep. There were about 25 ppl and since it was symbolic, my husband's daughter "officiated". We paid for drinks and snacks and then took everyone to dinner in Portofinos. It was fun :)

Given all of your circumstances and the knowledge that this might be your last family vacation for some time, I would definitely go with an open mind and have fun! We have cruised with bikers and had a blast. And the fact that they are supporting a charity is a plus in my book. You may find out that your fears were totally unfounded. :)

We did our own on the ship. We had a family member do the ceremony and followed with a package for cocktails and snacks. Then we had dinner in Portofinos. Ours was a group of 20, organized by my TA. It was a beautiful experience and must less expensive than the RCI package.
