  1.

Where Celebrity really shines in their smoking policy, Celebrity only allows smoking in four or five places all outdoors. There is not smoking allowed inside the ship including the casino. Also, no smoking in cabins and verandas. Sometime NCL was like being in a smokestack.

Beauty in the eyes of the beholder. And NCL is pretty restrictive as well so I'm guessing you have not been on NCL lately.

My preference is NCL due to the geriatric nature of the majority of their cruises. Entertainment a tad boring. The line is not "lively". Now in saying that I select cruises on itinerary, length, when as we can make our own fun.

We're on the EQ Dec 1 due to timing. We'll have fun regardless.

  2. thanks for the info

someone said tacos at the outside hamburger spot

    carol

anyone have info on quasar - what is it like - does it draw a younger crowed or older??

You're on Celebrity. What younger crowd:rolleyes:?

  3. Dear Celebrity,

Reading all those posts and now experiencing the terrible system I see how much money the cruiseline is probably loosing because it can't keep up with the technology or demand.

Bookings were doubled, bookings were frozen, bookings cancelled that then the system allowed to be reinstated past the expiration, past when the price still should have been available and more. Multiple cabins held when the system looked like nothing was held and so much more.

My travel agent complains, the customers complain and people are actually choosing other cruise lines because of the ease of booking vs the hassle.

When is it time to finally invest in the changes needed?

Please don't let your biggest fans down.

I'm afraid you're preaching to the choir per my post regarding the unavailability to book excursions a few weeks ago.

Per some of the prior posts:

I don't do phone calls. Way too time consuming. That's even before dealing with phone agent that don't care.

Other Cruiselines sites are superior to navigate. Horrible with X/RCCL.

It certainly puts a sour taste in ones mouth. Free drinks or not;)

  4. Other than Tetanus , Hep A and Hep B I wouldn't worry about anything else.

Unless your planning on spending a week or more in the jungle your highly unlikely to caught anything.

100% agree. Been there many times and, as mentioned, unless you plan on spending a long time, in the jungle, you're exposure is almost non-existent.

    Relax and enjoy!

  5. The only disadvantage we have found with Select dining is that we can't use OBC for gratuities, so if we have a large amount of OBC we book traditional. We are not heavy drinkers and do not use the spa, so there is such a thing as too much OBC! Sometimes we have been able to switch when we are on board, but since Select is becoming more popular, this is not as easy.

Good point. I still question why the pre-pay none of the other lines that I cruise do that?

  6. Seems to me like the new promotions that offer higher OBC have also had the price of the cruise rise as well. So in reality we are paying for our OBC in the higher fare. I personally prefer a cheaper PP fare and lower OBC, but that is just me....

Seems like it. The key to me not going NCL this year was the lack of longer Caribe cruises in Nov, Dec.

With X's beverage package promo, they made sense 11 days, free drink package. Net cost was cheaper.

  7. I did not realize that the wine limit was higher than the cocktails. I know it was raised earlier this year because of wine price inflation.

We get the premium package and many of the wines in the specialty restaurants now exceed the $13 limit:confused:

Celebrity should do the same thing with the premium package and have a higher limit for the wines:)

We took a Greek cruise line to Greece and Turkey and bought their drink package. It was pretty restrictive and we made do. What I did like was they had a bar menu with asterisks with drinks included. There plenty of choices so it all worked in the end.

I think when some travel they think it should be like at home.

  8. This.

Which is why so many of us do the Upgrade to Premium for just $ 10 US + 15% Grats = $ 11.50 per night

Then the world of options opens up substantially !!

Great value when you look at the scenario you have put forward.

To upgrade... Call Celebrity and ask for the 123Go Classic to Premium Alcohol Upgrade (so as to get the correct charge added to your account). Book by phone you will have to pay now. Book on the ship it will be added to your SeaPass Account.

With the Upgrade you are not required to do it for both in the cabin.

    Cheers!

Or some of os do not! Wait until your on board then decide.

  9. Sorry, this doesn't make any sense. The right answer is: find a great TA and stick with them. And I am unanimous in that!

I disagree. I happen to have a couple of great PCC's, OBC, great service and accordingly I stick with them. Unfortunately, I have not found one w/X so maybe that's why people in here don't use them;).

  10. most people are wonderful, kind and gracious. it is that one group you can run into (anywhere not just a cruise ship) that can really change you mood:D. just dont be in a hurry to go anywhere...not worth the stress.

Exactly. That's why I cruise so I don't have to be anywhere.

  11. On Summit, we tried Select and will likely never do it again. We did get our desired waiter/assistant each night except for one. But we did have a lengthy wait (up to 30 minutes) a couple of nights for any table if we showed up between 6-8. I can do that at Chili's. And while our waiter was very personable and would hang out for a short chat, the non-structured service (i.e. one table is ready for dessert, but another is waiting for their main course, a third just sat down, etc, etc) had them running around, busier than a cat trying to bury a turd on a marble floor.

Select is like any restaurant. You show up and get seated. Why would one think differently. If there's a wait, that why God invented bars:).

I guess I don't worry about "structured". Sounds like you are meant to be traditional.

  12. I was on the 10/5/14 Summit Canada/New England cruise. They brought on live lobster in Portland, Maine and served it the same (non-formal) night.

    Jane

That would be the exception - good for you!

Those of us cruise the Caribe don't get that lucky. Marginal "lobster" and some make a big deal of it. Give me set of good crab legs anytime by comparison.

  13. Your mistake was taking matters into your own hands.

Sorry, but no passenger has the right to "reserve" an elevator.

You should have asked a crew/officer to assist you and your mother. They are there to help mobility restricted passengers.

    My 2 Cents

Excellent point. In today's world courtesy and politeness can never be assumed:rolleyes:

Politeness indicates one would reserve assistance. I was raised to help not be a jerk. AND some of the worse offenders are the Senior Circuit. I'm not far away but I hope I don't become the "rude seniors" that we currently see. Pathetic isn't it?
