  1. I know people are always complaining about cruise lines cutting back. Here's a cut I would love to see. Get rid of the loud bands around the pool and switch to soft recorded music. I think most people at the pool are interested in talking to their friends, or reading a book or taking a nap. I would venture to say that the sound level was above the OSHA limit for a workplace!

IMHO, X needs more lively music not the geriatric versions we had. Serenity must be for you. It's not that loud or move up a deck.

  2. While I have alway used travelguard gold- now that my dh are in early 60's it is actually a much better deal to use the cruiseline insurance COMBINED with medjet membership. The cost of travelguard is just ridiculous for older persons. They used to be pretty good regarding "pre existing conditions waiver" if insurance is purchased right away upon booking. But now, I am hearing reports of them not honoring that without a fight--just like all the other travel insurance companies-- After thorough research by me- If you are not older than 50, and are basically in good health- then yes, travelguard and the others do offer more for your buck than the cruiseline insurance. But if you are older and are on any medications--colesteral, diabetes, heart, etc. at least you will get 75% back the cost on missed cruise in form of a vouture for the next one. At least you are not out the higher prices of the insurance itself from all the providers.

You need to talk to Steve at Tripinsurancestore.com. You are wrong.

  3. I think that the "service animal" concept will be abused and abused until there is no choice but to stop it entirely. so sad for the legitimate needs of the truly handicapped.

Right now, as I understand it, there is no "line" if you claim its a service animal no one can challenge you. So feel free to bring your pet dog, cat, monkey, ferret, or yes, even Kangaroo.

I wish common sense could prevail here.

If you are blind with a seeing eye dog, please board and enjoy your cruise.

If you have an "emotional needs" puppy that you push around in a stroller, better find a kennel.

Amen. Minimal pets on board. OK no animals or X should grow a set of ***** and just say no.

  4. Cancel for any reason 75% for future cruise good for 1 year. Medical and death benefit s 100% returned in cash. A copy of Celebrity Cruise Care insurance policy can be found on their site. I understood these conditions when I bought this policy. Other policies return nothing if you cancel for any reason.

Glad I use trip insurance store dot com. I may not want credit but need reimbursement. I'll deal with my later cruise later. That's not right.

I never understand why one buys a cruise line policy.

  5. The BIG things that would definitely make me switch:

    1. If they allowed Smoking in more places.

    2. If they started charging for the MAST GRILL Burgers :D

    3. If the prices keep going up the way they are

The smaller things which may make me switch:

    1. Silly new dining changes like dynamic dining

    2. Rude staff that were not corrected (However I must say I've never had a rude person on a cruise except for 1 in the casino)

Great place for CC. IMHO, if they make smoking more restrictive, I will not book with them. And yes, I've had rude staff. It's a trade off isn't it?

    Have a good evening.

  6. Our First years ago was on X. Next one we tried the NCL Jewel. We came running back to X.

Jewel was a beautiful ship, a lot more entertainment and energy. The anytime dining thing did not work out for us unless you booked 7 nights as soon as you got on board. We experienced long waits at each of the venues. NCL may have made changes since that cruise. The dining room food was just terrible, in our opinion. One thing that really annoyed us was the constant all ship announcements.

X is more relaxing for us. Only one announcement a day. We find the food in the MDR very good although the last several cruises we have been in Aqua class thus eating in Blu. Picking one or the other is a personal choice, we have several friends that love NCL.

I agree as a rule. We've never waited too long but we prefer to eat late. X's ships are beautiful but the crowd was way too geriatric for me. It sucks when I bring the average age down :).

  7. I could write a comparison between my most recent Celebrity cruises (Reflection and Constellation) and most recent NCL cruises (Dawn and Pride of America), but it would be so lopsided toward Celebrity and so insulting towrd NCSmell, it would probably not go over so well with any NCL fans reading it. So I won't. Nuff said.

What an obnoxious post - doesn't really help the OP does it?

  8. You are assuming that some of us are truly loyal to a line - we're not and book each cruise based on pricing, itinerary, length and the ship. I actually prefer NCL but I have zero commitment to them either.

Celebrity, as the other mainstreams, have their inadequacies. AND fresh OJ is not a concern to me:).

  9. What is so hard about giving a helpful answer on a post? Instead of comments that add nothing to the topic.

This is what a troll does, not a CC host:(

WTH? His post was a possible consideration and had as much input as yours and others as it's pretty obvious to the majority that flights were cancelled yesterday .

  10. I always get great service but never tip extra until the last day so I don't think you have to bribe them to get good service.

Depends how much I order, $2 to $5

Call it what you want, I tip strong early to make sure they take care of me and make final tip as a thank you. A buck here and a buck there is pretty disingenuous. That's lip service. You call it a bribe, I call it insurance. Ever stayed a long time at a place with a doorman?
