  1. We are sailing on Elation May 1st. Is it true that the Jacksonville terminal doors will not open until 1:00?

I am accustom to arriving at 11:00 and boarding at 11:30. I have Platinum status and understand the assigned times do no apply and we have priority.

Is this a new enforced policy..

  2. We cruise on the Elation several times a year and other cruise ships several times a year. We will be on the Elation May 1st.

We enjoy the Elation for what it is an inexpensive get away. If this is your first cruise and you have a good attitude I predict you will be in the majority and you will have a great time.

  3. Not only has my Carnival stock increased in value over 30% since purchased. I receive some dividends..

But the BIG advantage is I take several Carnival cruises a year and enjoy the $50 or $100 credits I receive as a stock holder on every cruise I take with any of Carnival's cruise lines.

  4. Try a newer ship.

    Sir,

With all due respect...The ELATION cruise was my 65th cruise I have been on old, new, small, large and as a general rule my favorite ship is what ever one I find myself on.

The ELATION and VALOR are the exceptions.

  5. This was the Elation's initial cruise to it's new port Jacksonville, Fl. my home town.

Our recent ten night cruise on The Elation was a disappointment. Our cabin M-182 was unbelievably noisy , Guest Services was very hard to reach and indifferent. I found the general condition of the ship in need of some tender loving care. The cabin closet and cabinets were the cheapest I have seen in 60+ cruises. The carpets were stained the bathroom sink barely drained.. My single bed had king size sheets and comforter. The bed visually sagged and the cabin could have used a good dusting..

I find almost all Carnival's food to be about the same and the poor waiters over worked.

Patience is a must in the dining room.

    Embarkation was smooth and quick.

The cruise director and a carnival barker have a lot in common. There was an unusual number of announcements.

Entertainment was as expected from Carnival.

On the positive side the staff in general was very friendly. The ports of call were interesting and I appreciated the length of time in ports. The Captains party was a pleasant surprise and well done. The return cruisers party well attended and as a side note you were able to order anything from the bar you wanted.

In the past we have cruised from the port of Jacksonville, Fl several times a year. I am sorry to say unless there is a great deal of improvement with the Elation I will consider leaving from Port Canaveral on a different cruise line.

  6. You want to use some out of the way, unused lounge to practice? Fine, go for it. But if I'm resting on my balcony and someone decided to serenade me with viola or tuba music, I would be filing a complaint. I have enough courtesy to not force my music on someone else by using earbuds, why should someone else force their music on me?

    agreed

  7. You need to edit your profile and take that handful of cruises off. Nobody cares you have cruised a few times and it's annoying trying to read messages to have to scroll through that nonsense. I have turned off that option but many others have to suffer. If you need help just message me and I can walk you through how to edit your profile. I have ran message boards for years. It's very easy to do. Happy Easter!

Why you actually sounded a tad jealous.. :)

  8. In my opinion Holland America cruise line has the oldest demographics of any cruise line. Carnival cruise line the youngest demographics. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise line somewhere in the middle. All cruise lines I have experienced schedule or as in Royal Caribbean cruise line tolerate LGBT get togethers ..

  9. Celebrating our anniversary with our very first cruise, 7 nights on the Pride. My hubby works in the fitness industry so he literally wears workout clothes all the time. Dressing up for him is cargo type shorts and at t shirt. If it gets below 20 degrees he might switch to jeans. ( ladies feel my pain?) I need to get him clothes for the MDR Where we plan to dine every night. I need a simple plan that won't need a large amount of $$. I was thinking khakis and a polo for regular nights and maybe dark pants with a button down shirt on elegant nights. Sound ok?

Right on...I wear my khakis & button down shirt on formal nights and have never felt out of place.

  10. Hi everyone. I'm new here, planning on taking my 1st ever cruise and doing it solo. I'm a 41 male, live in Dallas, TX tend to enjoy an older crowd, looking to book with Pied Piper. I do 90% of my land travel solo, it's my preferred way to travel unless I have a partner which I don't at the time. Any thoughts, tips, advice?

Take a Holland America cruise there are lots of more mature people and straight people can be fun for short periods of time..:)
