1. I am very concerned with some of the reviews. That's why I'm calling, and if they don't do shuttle, I'll get the name of some cabs or take the dive and pay the port parking.

3 Years ago we had a nightmare Rodeway in No. Charleston. 15 minute stay and we were gone. It looked like a scene from a horror movie, couldn't get out of there fast enough. That's how we ended up at Patriots point.

There's some nice places downtown Charleston, but they are either pricey or not available.

Lesson learned, besides tripadvisor, follow up with bedbugreports.com

  2. We're cruising May 11th as well! Come join our roll call if you want to. Less than 3 months now! We can't wait! :D

Thanks I will, my head is swimming hunting for best rate hotel/parking etc. Looks like I have to get on the phone Saturday and make a phone call. We're interested in Patriots point, we've stayed there twice before, but they don't mention the shuttle anymore.

  3. We have only recently become avid cruisers. It started as one a year, then two, now 4 this year.

We cruised on the Fantasy and became fairly close with Zelia. She was the best thing about our entire Fantasy experience. She really treated us well. She was thrilled that week because she was going home for 3 months. At that point she wasn't sure which ship she would come back to, but she thought it would be in early March.

We made one huge mistake just before sailing on the Fantasy and that was sailin on the Breeze 2 months prior. We went from the largest and newest to literally the smallest and oldest. It was difficult not to compare.

Overall we weren't impressed with the Fantasy, but any day on a cruise is better than a day at work.

May11, will be our 3rd cruise, this time on the Fantasy, can't wait, we tried the fascination in 2009 but Charleston is a shorter drive. 1st cruise was the Explorer out of Bayonne in 2007 but even with the short travel time, we cannot justify the price, besides we love going to Charleston, it'll be 2 trips in one.

  4. You've got a good point there on weaning off. I plan on it myself. I'm also coming off 2packs/day. I'm treating it like a patch. I started with 24mg of nicotine, than to 18, I'm now at 12. I'm probably going to be at least another month on the 12. I am taking my time so I don't blow it.

I really don't want to keep this habit, its a pain in the behind to be honest.

  5. Magic Kingdom does this thing where they wander the park and randomly select a family to sleep in Cinderella's Castle suite. They picked a family directly in front of us. :(

I once gave my 12 year old nephew a scratch off lottery ticket.... $2000.00 winner! :( Happy, but still...

To be disappointed, is human. Just don't be childish or dwell on it. Life is too short.

Oh my god, I gave my son a scratch off ticket back in 2007. He just turned 18, he won a cruise on Royal Caribbean, but since he wasn't old enough for Royal and didn't want to choose parents to go with, he gave it to us for our anniversary!

I wasn't picked for this event, so I just went and booked on anyway, maybe that'll bring me some luck for a freebie, lol

  6. No MDR for me either. I keep mine on a lanyard so I don't break it in my pocket, but it gets tucked in when not in use. Now I'm doing the happy dance thinking about where to vape on the Fantasy in May. Wow this will be the first casino without a cigarette in hand too.

  7. I'm still trying to figure out my plans for the Fantasy, but I'll be taking my esmoke. There is no way I can go near the smokers, the smell doesn't offend me yet, it's only been 4 months, but I don't want to be tempted. I was a hard core addict and trying to salvage my health. Mine don't look like a real cig, so that should help out somewhat.

  8. Reality set in, no freebie for me. Now trying to figure out how to book one, guess its going to be 3 in the interior, waaaah, I'll whine, but I'll get over it. I really am happy for the lucky ones. I've one some free trips in the past that I am thankful for. I'm am alittle po'd at the PVP who left a message on my phone, to go along with the email mentioning this free cabin. That was just wrong. When she called again today and told me I didn't have one, she claimed they were from the casino, which I think we all figured out as a big NO.

  9. I know everybody is getting mailings and finding it in their accounts. Nothing in mine, but one of their pvps has emailed me this week with the following:

"Please call me today to take advantage of Your Exclusive FREE CABIN OFFER! This is a Limited Time Offer! PLEASE HURRY. Call me TODAY"

She also called me. I know she is legit, I've spoken to her in the past shortly after our first cruise in 2009. I'm crossing my fingers on this one. She's not in today so I have to wait til Monday, so I emailed her about it letting her know she can call me and if this wasn't going to be the case, I had questions about another sailing for next year.

  10.
well done, I had my heart attack Christmas day 2012 and gave up after 45yr.Over here we get encouraged to go to special cardiac rehab gym classes, these are free thanks to our fantastic NHS. I am fitter now than I was in my 50s.

To all you smokers please give up, you dont want to put yourself or your nearest and dearest through what happened to daniels and I.
Well said, and its not just the heart they have to worry about. I was lucky so far on the heart end. I'm having lung problems so that's why I had to quit. And I had a 2 week cancer scare. That was the worst feeling, so I don't want to relive that again.
  11.
I guess I'm not at all familiar with them and never thought of a power button. And never having held one, the weight sounds like a good reason for the way it's held. You sound like you are doing well working your way down and off of it. You could always try some tasty chewing gum or lifesavers like they did in the good old days. Or tic tacs. :) Just don't use fingernails or food. ;)

    Gina
Great suggestions, can't chew gum, and I don't bite my nails, but I pick at them, lol. Food won't be a problem, been having problems eating lately. Hmm, maybe a year round cruise with lots of frozen drinks, that could do it.
  12.
:)

So why isn't the hand to mouth action the same? I see people hold them up with 4 fingers over the top, thumb under, and lean their head forward taking a quick suck. Sort of like leaning over and drinking from a straw. If they held it between their pointer and middle finger like a cigarette, it wouldn't have that pacifier appearance. The string around the neck could add to it.

I can see it having a useful purpose if people are really committed to quitting and using this as a device to cut back. I don't understand the funny inhalation technique.

    Gina
Wow you are really observant (in a good way). I just had to stop and think about that, it didn't even occur to me. I just went to use mine and you are right. I can't speak for everybody, but my pointing finger goes on the top because of the button to power it up. In my case it's the battery. It's thicker than a cigarette and heavier. So I guess its a bit of a tradeoff. I'm at the point if I had to hold it with my fist, I probably would. I'm 3 months in from quitting cigs after smoking for over 35 years. I was one of the hardcore addicts. This is my only hope after several failed attempts. I'm treating it slowly like the patch, started at 24 mgs of nic., than 18, I'm weaning down to 12 as of today. I guess I'm going to have to figure out a new habit before I make it to 0.
  13.
Everyone on Oasis gets information in their room informing them of the new smoking policy. It's ignored by some.

I call the e-cigs - "adult pacifiers". It has something to do with the puffing technique I've seen. :)

    Gina
LOL, I guess you could call it an adult pacifier. Actually its the hand to mouth action of a cigarette for us hard core addicts, plus the feel of inhaling them.

I have a lanyard for mine. Putting them in my backpocket was too costly with cracking some of them and having a nice little wet spot, plus the expenses of replacing it. I do tuck it in my shirt when I'm in an area I know I shouldn't be doing it.
  14. Okay, guess I haven't run across those, although my experience is certainly limited since I'm not a user myself.

The ones that you may smell are the flavored, just like you would smell gum or lifesavers. Food grade flavorings are used. I've used vanilla, coffee, caramel and hot cinnamon. I think the cinnamon you maybe able to smell as much as someone next to you chewing cinnamon gum and that's if you are really sensitive in the smelling area.

I started out with an ecig that looked like the real thing, but it was a waste of money, didn't get much mileage on them, but in all fairness that got me used to the idea to try the better ones that don't look like cigs.

There is no way I could smoke my ecig in the smoking areas. It's defeating the purpose. I'm trying to kick the habit not revisit it.
