  1. Yes what you mention is fine in the DR, buffet etc for breakfast/lunch, no muscle shirts, or bathing suits in the DR. We have been on some cruise where baseball caps were requested to be removed in the DR. Depends on the ship. Have seen a ton of baseball caps recently so maybe thats a moot point.

    If you wear a bathing suit in the buffet a cover up is requested.

     

    Nothing will kill an appetite like hairy armpits.:eek:

    I like galveston park n cruise. Right across the highway, you can walk with your luggage if you chose. No shuttle across the road.

     

    Another vote for PNC. Convenient, and covered parking is available.

  3. What is your favorite interior or obstructed oceanview room on the Caribbean Princess? L104 looks to be a bit larger than some of the other obstructed view rooms. Are there any interior rooms that are better than other interiors?

    How about regular oceanview rooms, are any better than the others?

  4. Really appreciate all your replies and especially the pictures. I always hate to look like an idiot. My wife will always ask people but you know guys, we never want to admit we don't know where we are going. She usually tells me where to go since she keeps an eye on the preferred line vs the regular line.

     

    Loved the comment "the photographers will try to get your pic taken". Maybe on a "first" cruise but we usually don't look our best when we first board and have no plans to ever purchase those types of pictures so why waste their time.

  5. We've always used Park n Cruise for that reason, it is easier and quicker to walk across the street. In case you are not aware, EZ Cruise has a lot right behind Park n Cruise that also offers a 'walk 2 blocks instead of the shuttle' option. You get a $15 - $20 discount off the shuttle rate. It is on the page where you reserve your parking online.

  6. Poor lady..should have had a larger table! Some folks like to be friendly....but don't always know what other's limits are....be gracious. So far, we've NEVER had a table mate (or close by person) that we couldn't stand for 1 hour or so....loosen up! It's not usually the "obnoxious" person...it's usually the complainer that has the problem!

     

    I have. She never shut up. it was so bad I changed to Any Time.

  7. Some information:

    There is no difference in formal nights and menus between traditional and anytime. We almost always find excellent service in ATD, but I believe traditional dining with the same waiters each evening is probably a little more personal as the waiters get to know you. The specialty restaurants are smart casual every night. Of course you may dress formal if you like. For many years now we have enjoyed ATD. We always request a table to share and ask that we don't get seated at a table for 10. Large tables make it more difficult to have conversations. We find it interesting to meet and talk with different people. You can make reservations for ATD by calling the DINE line. Being in a full suite will provide you with some priority.

     

    We find this is the main difference between traditional and anytime dining: With traditional dining you are forced to plan your evening's activities around your dining time. With anytime dining the reverse is true, you select your evening's activities and then plan dining around it. So ATD can solve the "shows were not on the right schedule" issue.

     

    Some enjoy dining late. For us late dining generally cuts right into the evening's shows and activities. While we dine early in the DR most evenings, some evenings we choose to go to an early show and dine late. Sometimes we skip the DR altogether and either go to the Horizon Ct., maybe even the grill, some pizza or the International Cafe. It really depends how we feel that day.

     

    Hope this information is helpful for you.

     

    Even when assigned to "traditional" you can use the ATD dining room if an occasion calls for it. I've never been asked to show my card there.

  8. An extract from my review of Stuart Cove at Nassau:

     

    Day six, Nassau, Bahamas, 12:30PM – 6:30PM. What a great diving/snorkeling location. Here too the swells had limited the dive trips, but our boat captain took us to sheltered ‘Angelfish Reef’ where we enjoyed a magical coral garden and hundreds of fish.

    Only at Roatan Bay have I enjoyed such a variety. This was absolutely marvelous. The water was so crystal clear I was able to get a number of great underwater photos.

     

    The "shark" stop was magnificent.

    A bucket of bait was lowered to the bottom to attract the sharks. We floated on the surface to watch them feed

    to complete the show, a crew member held bait above the water. On long poles, of course. :D

    Seeing sharks break the surface to get at the bait was a magnificent show!!

  10. At the International Café and some lounges:

     

    Brewed coffee is $1.25/cup, most specialty coffees are $2.50-$2.75 for a regular size, espresso $1.75.

     

    $33.35, including gratuity, buys a coffee card with fifteen punchouts for specialty coffees, and unlimited brewed coffee at the cafes and lounges that have brewed coffee.

    You can also use it in the dining rooms for specialty coffees. The server is directed to take two punch outs for double shot orders, some do, some don't.

    Since the coffee card is for a discrete quantity it's not time limited. If there are punch outs remaining at the end of the cruise the card will carry over to the next cruise.

    The “unlimited” brewed coffee does not carry over.

    If you are accustomed to good quality coffee, you definitely will want a coffee card. The vile concoction in the Horizon Court (buffet) is syrup based. Room service is also syrup based.

     

    Not that syrup-based coffee is always a bad thing. My hometown source, http://www.javacoffee.com/, informs me there are different grades for syrup coffee, just as with ground coffee.

    Regardless of grade, the taste of syrup based is always going to be somewhat inferior to an equivalent grade of ground. Based on flavor, Princess must use the lowest grade (cheapest) available.

     

    Not all ships have the Int'l Cafe. They do, however, have a Coffee Bar for regular and specialty coffees.

  11. It will cost $150 but includes a robe, a chef's jacket, a personalized notepad, and some photos.

     

    During the cruise there is usually a tour backstage and the kitchen but nothing as extensive as the Ultimate Tour. It visits the bridge and the crew deck.

     

    That tour was previously offered as three separate tours.

    Bridge, engine room and kitchen.
