Hopefully RCI will follow Disney’s lead and strongly discourage hiding ducks. Hiding ducks on ships has to be the dumbest thing I have seen over my 72 cruises.

Gee why does it bother you so much?  You do not have to do it, you do not have to look for them...It is a "fun" thing for kids (and some adults) and harms no one!

  2. It is UNSAFE and a DANGER to all other cruisers if someone someone smokes on their balcony.  If you see it REPORT it and watch to see if any cruise staff react to it, if not report it AGAIN.  I have had to report this activity sometimes 3x before someone went and took care of it.   I do feel awful turning someone in for this BUT I would feel worse if it ended up in a fire and loss of lives!  Don't get me wrong, my hubby is a smoker BUT he always smokes only in designated smoking areas and if he did not I would report him......

With all the added expense the steward should visit my room 5 times a day.

Ok here is what we do....when we first meet our Room Steward we have a "list" of our desires..... Extra set of towels because I have long hair, Ice "all the time", Extra feather pillow for each bed, extra hangers, bathrobes if not already in the closet......we give him/her an a $20 tip right off and then since we know you only get service once a day now we ask for "morning" because we usually shower before getting dressed for the evening.  We try to keep our cabin as neat as possible, less work for our room steward.  We are ALWAYS friendly and speak to our room steward whenever we see him/her and have NEVER had any problems!  Be NICE and FRIENDLY and you reap what you sow!

  4. Hi:  We got onboard on the 18th of December and did a B2B2B we will be disembarking on Saturday, 8 January.  Weather was a bit of a problem and yes we did miss Costa Maya on the 24 December part of the Cruise and possible dangerous fog on the last day of that cruise caused us to scoot back to Tampa early so we would not be stuck outside of the Port and not able to dock.  The Casino and shops were indeed closed which was not great and they really did not make that clear to passengers who are new to cruising BUT and I mean BUT the whole cruise has been great.  The entire crew is doing their best to be friendly and helpful and to make the return to cruising a great experience.  You have to wear masks when indoors unless you are eating and drinking (solve that by always keeping a drink in your hand) you do not have to wear masks out on the open decks.  The RCCL has tried very  hard to maintain social distancing and the crew is CONSTANTLY sanitizing everything.....The food has been terrific.  All I can say is "if the ships are going, so am I".  So you have to wear a mask when indoors at least you are on a cruise.  Eat, Drink and be Merry and go Cruising.

  5. I think that all of the employees on the Cruise Ship are underpaid so my husband and I ALWAYS tip everyone one $1 in cash (then our staff member actually gets the money). We tip the bathroom attendants (who are always shocked to get a tip) everyone that we order drinks from, even in the Diamond Lounge and Concierge Lounge. Of course, we tip over and above the prepaid gratuities for our Room Steward and Wait Staff. We do not do this to show off.. we do it because these people work their tails off for us for way less pay then we would accept for the same job; they make our cruise so wonderful and they deserve any extra money that we can afford to give them.

  6. Mitsugirly, Am so enjoying your review and especially all the great pics. I, on the other hand, am having a dickens of a time getting my pictures to post. Started out when I clicked on attachment, then selected the picture, it said it was too big so I went to an online site and shrunk them down to 1000x750 pixels. Tried uploading again and the first picture worked fine. EVERY one since then has resulted in the JPEG logo coming up with a highlighted line of script instead of the actual picture. When I click on it, the pic comes up in a separate window. Darn it, I want them to come up in the post. I opened a flickr account thinking that would work but it comes up with a line in the url that says email protected or something to that effect. I'm at my wits end. We're going on an Alaska cruise in a few days and I was hoping to do a proper "Live From" but it won't be the same if I can't get this pic upload to work. HELP! ANYBODY! Sorry to hijack but I am desperate Asked on the "Help" board but didn't get any.

  7. Just my theory but almost all the staff on the cruise ships work long hard hours and have to put up with a variety of happy, unhappy, rude, nice and sometimes obnoxious passengers and do not get paid enough to do all they do for us (passengers). My hubby and I always carry $1 bills and tip all bartenders (yes even in Diamond Lounge and Concierge Lounge) and even restroom cleaning personnel; the smiles on their faces when they receive such a minimal tip makes us appreciate how LUCKY we are to be able to cruise.

  8. I just found about the Coffee Card availability but am not sure how it works. When I clicked on "add to cart" both my husband any my name came up to purchase a card. Does that mean we would each need to purchase a card or can just one of us get one and "share the card". On another cruise line we just purchase one card for 15 coffees and order 2 of whatever coffee we want and get 2 punches on the card. Can we do that with the RCCL card or are we limited to 1 coffee at a time per person? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  9. So despite being denied 22 times, you chose to sail with a company whose principles disagree with. Why would RCI change their ways?

It's not RCCL's "principle", it's mine. The principle being to protest those policies one disagrees with. I fly Delta yet I disagree with many of their policies; baggage and change fees most notably. Yes I will continue to cruise with RCCL but their policy on combining incentives clearly needs some tweaking. Hopefully, open discussion in these forums will encourage same.

  10. Because of the lack of a shareholder OBC you book elsewhere? Because of $100?

It's not the money, it's the principle. I prefer cruise lines who appreciate my business and do so by allowing, even encouraging combining incentives. Case in point, on our next Princess Cruise we have future booking onboard credit, military onboard credit, shareholder's onboard credit AND a deluxe drink package. Oh, I nearly forgot, a reduction in price due to our Captain's Circle status. Love cruising RCCL. Just wish they would allow combining incentives. Something's wrong when in 22 cruises with RCCL we have never been able to get a Shareholder OBC.

  11. Both my husband and I are Diamond Plus on RCCL and Elite on Princess. I own enough shares on both Carnival (who owns Princess) and RCCL to qualify for the Shareholder's Benefit. I have been able to use my Shareholder's Benefit on every cruise we have taken on both Princess and Carnival plus being able to combine it with any other discounts offered. So far I have not been able to use my Shareholder's Benefit on a single RCCL cruise even though I have requested it. There is "always" some reason why I can not do so. But on many RCCL cruises we have chatted with others who were able to use their Shareholder's Benefit in addition to discounted fares............It is very frustrating since we love the RCCL experience but since we can combine our Shareholder's, Military and any other discounts we can find on Princess and Carnival we tend to choose their cruises even if we would rather go on an RCCL cruise...........just saying maybe RCCL should think about that..........

  12. It's a pretty heavy object. We put it in with our checked luggage, one of the lighter ones so were weren't over weight limit. We were just a pound or 2 shy of the limit on one bag. I didn't want to add it to my carry on because that was heavy enough on its own. Just a thought, I wonder what it costs the company to give those. I think I might rather have some OBC myself. I think I pitched the pins we received.

I actually love these "blocks" they make fantastic book ends and visitors to our home always ask about them and then we get to regale them with our cruise stories.........

  13. We have done the Chef's Table 3 times so far. It is SPECTACULAR worth every dime of the cost involved. The time spent in the Galley and the appetizers served there are almost as good as the actual meal itself. The Table Setting and Service is 5 star quality and the food, the food.... we eat very lightly on the day of the Chef's Table (if we are lucky enough to be chosen to participate). The ambiance and the interaction with fellow tablemates and the Chef and Staff is an experience in itself.... If in doubt, don't worry this is one of the best experiences you can have onboard. GO FOR IT!!!

  14. I am on the Pride now. Yesterday, the first day, our room steward Jay stopped in and personally introduced himself and explained we may have our room serviced twice a day or just in the am or pm. He asked us to also fill out a card with our request. We chose just the am service but asked for ice twice a day. So far the ice bucket has been full and we also got a towel animal last night as well as a turn down.

Thank you, this is just the answer I was hoping for.....

  15. Have been reading several reviews lately and there have been comments on new policy of only having your cabin serviced only once a day either in the morning or evening (you choose and let your room steward know which you time you prefer). We are cruising on the Carnival Pride B2B, 17 Jan - 7 Feb; we actually have no problem with once a day service but would we really like to have ice all of the time so would like it delivered in the evening as well as the morning. Anybody know what the "real" scoop is on this issue? Thanks for any info.....

  16. We did the Hawaii/South Pacific Cruise on the Crown in Oct/Nov and I must say although the sheets were definitely clean; they were full of holes. On several occasions we had holes big enough to put my head thru. They were at the bottom corner so really didn't interfere with sleeping. Several other holes were smaller but still much larger than pin holes. We are very "easy" cruisers and "go with the flow" so this was not significant enough to complain about (especially since the sheets were clean). I did mention this problem in my end of cruise survey as I am sure that even though this did not bother us, it could very well leave a very bad impression on a first time Princess cruiser. As a small stockholder, I say spend a little money and buy some new sheets!

  17. Absolutely LOVE the Caribe Deck Balconies! So much larger than regular balconies and since half is covered and half not its perfect for myself and my hubby since I love the sun and he loves the shade. Balcony size is also perfect for inviting guests for a private Sail-Away. I was very disappointed that the Royal and Regal have done away with Caribe Balconies. We sailed on the Maiden Transatlantic on the Royal in a Deluxe Balcony and were super disappointed with the very small size of the balconies. If you have any chance ALWAYS book a Caribe Deck Balcony, you will not be sorry.
