Going for Qaqortoq

As I was taking the arrival photo, an Army vet next to me said he thought that Qaqortoq was the capital of Greenland. I said I thought it was Nuuk. A Marine heard us and said we were both wrong. He said the capital of Greenland was "G". (kssh)

It looks like another Viking Passage port. Greenland?
Yes, Greenland. But, which port?

This is an obscure one -- a port not visited by many. I took the shot of Maasdam from the heights above the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial:
Here is a shot of the commercial part of the harbor from the same area:
And, here is a shot of entering the harbor:

One more for today. Where is Maasdam?

That's a big clue. Manzanillo, Mexico
Yes. The blue sailfish is a bit of a giveaway isn't it?

How 'bout Bridgetown, Barbados/
And yes, "Out to Sea" with Walter Matthau and "Ensign Pulver" / Jack Lemmon was partially filmed on Westerdam II, the former Homeric for Home Lines
Yes, Bridgetown (love the color of the water).
And, two of my favorite actors.

The Westerdam ! HAL bought this ship in 1988 from Home Lines . Actually HAL bought Home lines completely. Their fleet consisted of the Atlantic and the Homeric. The first was sold , the Homeric became Westerdam . She was extended at Meyer Werft in Papenburg , Germany . I saw the section on the shipyard , regrettably not the actual operation.
When CCL bought HAL she later sailed as Costa Europa from I think 2002 and nowadays as Marella Dream . I saw her in February 2019 in the Canary Islands. If you look closely you can see the “ inserted” section. I have no idea where this photo is taken . But the one below off the coast of Tenerife .
Yes! The old Westerdam, which we sailed the Caribbean on in 1996, and which was in the movie "Out to Sea" I believe.
Can anyone else name the place where I took the photo of her docked?

Must be an old picture ... your picture doesn't match with Google Maps any more.
Old, but not too much -- taken in 2009.

A fun one for fans of the older HAL ships. Two parts:
1. What was the name of the ship when she was a HAL ship?
2. Where is she docked in this photo?

Earlier I hinted that we had visited this place on a Viking Passage cruise, and was a large source of farmed Atlantic salmon. Second hint -- the town is named for a Norse god.

I know the Eurodam has done a northern Atlantic crossing in the past, and wondering if this is somewhere along the way. I don't recoginize the port area.
Yes, it was on a Viking Passage cruise and was one of the ports along the way. (We actually did 3 Viking Passage cruises over the years.)
Hint: There were fish pens we could see from the pier. We were told that, if you buy farmed Atlantic salmon, odds are it came from here.

Correct! (How many ships have both? Just Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam?)

Which ship? (Could be an easy one.)
