  1. Thanks for the replies Buckeye and Babr!

    You’re right, it’s a journey!
I hope this attachment comes through, but I did include this screenshot in my documentation. Hopefully you can see all of it.

Curlybelle2, since Princess canceled the cruise and gave you credit back, were you seeking compensation for your flight?

  2. This was our exact experience in Cielo the week prior!! (March 5-12) !

We had a reservation for 6 PM for every night.

The thing that got me was how the hostess told us this would be our table all week and remember where it was. 🤣

When there were other people at our table on the third night, and the table number had been removed and replaced with a different number, the same confusion ensued.

Fortunately every night we just had to explain that our real Table was no longer our table and please find us another table for two, which they were able to do. We got there every night about 5:50. But when we left at 7 o’clock the line was out the door and winding down by the elevators like you said.

We really liked our original server. I think this is the situation people are hinting at with Dine my way issues. You no longer are guaranteed the same server even when you try. It must bum out the servers out as well, because creating relationships (and maybe working for an extra tip ??) really isn’t in the cards when the guests keep changing tables.

Having done a cruise that started in Quebec City (with an overnight), a 5 or 7 pm arrival seems pretty late. At that point you're almost missing an entire day of the cruise with getting to the ship and settled in.

Personally, I'd fly in on the 19th, stay at an airport hotel (or a hotel closer the port) and then cab it to the ship as soon as it opens for boarding on the 20th. That way you're onboard, fed, and can spend the full afternoon sightseeing the old city of Quebec, and leaving the 21st fully open for excursions further outside of the downtown area.

You know I wouldn't post normally - but I have to say a big YES to this. Quebec City is sort of the highlight of the whole cruise IMHO, and to miss an opportunity to tour it part of both days is indeed a missed opportunity.  We are doing a similar cruise this fall on Celebrity, RT out of Boston, and booked it specifically for the overnight in Quebec City. (booked it in May of 2021) Turns out it leaves early the second day.  I am so disappointed not to have more time - the next day is virtually worthless as it leaves at 10:00 am.  You are investing the time and money already.  Although it may be a bit more difficult to leave on the 19th, I think it might be worth it.

  4. I posted up thread - finally filed yesterday.

Fairly easy process, but I had a tough time trying to document all the times Southwest canceled our flights that weekend.  What did you all use to submit documentation of canceled flights?  I had a screen shot from my phone for the first time.  But when I go to SW and try to do history - it only shows the flight I actually made on Monday the 14th.  No e-mails of canceled flights were every received , it was all text messages.  I tried to screenshot them all - but as we all know now, after you get that text, you are in a race to the app to try to book a new flight.

Anyone receive anything back besides a confirmation of claim received and in process yet?

You can get a copy of you pholio....sorry, couldn't resist.....folio from a machine usually right near the customer service desk.

    😆

I checked it the night before, and didn’t do anything to recheck the morning we disembarked unfortunately. My fault.

The charge on my CC doesn’t match my recollection.

  6. Sky Princess March 5 -12.

I called yesterday to ask for my folio as it has not been e-mailed to me. (Survey has been) Our disembarking info the evening prior said it would be slipped under the door. Nope.

My card was also charged for more that I thought was correct.

The $14.50 credit for ST Thomas was on the folio when I checked it the day prior to the end of the cruise.

By the way, the nice customer service lady yesterday could not figure it out.  She said you spell it p - h - o - l - i - o, correct?  I kept trying to explain it. She said, "Oh you mean the bill?" I said yes, I'm sorry - I should have said that. The website would not accept my info to ask for it on-line.  She never could get it 😞

  7. I have the Princess Standard insurance and have been delayed 2 nights in Miami. Off the Sky on Saturday the 12, flight canceled Saturday,  new flight also got canceled Sunday. Booked today, Monday.. we will see. I did not use EZ air.

I spoke to someone on Saturday he said he was not an adjuster but to keep all my receipts etc.

I will be filing a claim along with you… I interested to hear from anyone else with previous experience.

Thanks for the updates, keep them coming. I love the weather. When we lived in Delaware the snow storms were fun to track, but sure am glad to be in South Carolina now and don't miss the snow.

I have been following your thread here, and just wanted to come back to add you were right!

We’re getting tossed about, aren’t we?

I am on board too right now, and wow!!

Hoping it settles out for St Thomas!

I know it could be worse, but I’ve never had trouble sleeping from the creeks and crackles in the room - don’t know why I thought that wouldn’t be the case on a newer ship. (We are mid forward, Caribe)

Thanks NavArch64 for the great info!

And it would be nice for Princess to provide us with accurate information.

2/24 their SVP of Sales stated on 3/1 it will be 3 days; 2/25 it was 3 days in Travel Summary; 2/26 back to 2 days where it remains today.

Exactly! This is what gets me. Rumors, speculation, hearsay - we know better.  BUT regardless of how any of us feel about decisions made, we have to rely on them to meet them to cruise.

I also have the video of the Senior Vice President, North America Sales & Trade Marketing for Princess Cruises and Cunard Line, John Chernesky, stating that the test requirement would switch to 3 days - nice graphic and all - on March 1.  Why would I doubt this information published on-line by a VP of sales for Princess?  I changed our testing dates on this info.  Yes, I kept the other appt.'s too - but wow.

I wonder why this tour operator does not know this kind of information?  Seems like any operator would be familiar with operations of visiting cruise ships.  Would make me leery of this business.

You know, I kind of was wondering the same thing - but this was the #2 highest rated 1/2 day tour co. on TripAdvisor, and 1,610 positive reviews.  I won't name the provider, but they work out of the dive shop on front street if anyone is curious.   Shouldn't be too hard to figure out  - ocean color bubbles

  11. I'm sorry!  I have googled and searched, and just want peace of mind as I am leaving in a few days.

Does the Sky move it's clocks ahead one hour to what would be considered Atlantic Standard time, and if so, when?

I have a private tour in St. Marteen that wants a definite answer today.  He doesn't trust the posted port times.

    Thanks!

PS our excursion is before DST switch on March 13 - so that doesn't come into play.

We have done it with Soutwest on other cruise lines.   The great thing is depending on how much luggage you have, you may only have to pay one EZ Check fee when flying Soutwest.

Oh yes, great idea!  One passenger on SW can check 2 bags!  Great tip - thanks!!

Note that IDNOW is a molecular test that has the same ability to detect old virus genetic material as PCR (NAAT and PCR are both looking for the same thing and making copies of what they find, to see if they reach a threshold level in a certain number of copies).  It too can identify virus in people who are no longer capable of transmitting it to others.

Specifically because it’s such a giant pain to get a proctored antigen test on short notice, we did a lab PCR roughly ten days before our NAAT test, to see if there was anything that might have gone unnoticed symptom-wise since our last surface antigen.  That PCR was clear and we can use either IDNow or BINAXNow with confidence.  If that PCR had popped, we would have the ten days of recovery required to board without an additional test.

WOW - ok, great information!! Thanks!

SO - let me make sure I understand.  If one tests positive on a PCR, they would be allowed to board 10 days later with no additional testing?

My husband has access to free PCR - maybe he should do it now.  It's return time is not reliable enough to risk it closer to departure.

  14. OP Here..

Thank you all so much for your replies - I am so relieved !!

My Walgreens offers the ID Now and PCR.  I think we'll go with the ID now - faster, and we did have Omicron run through our house late December - and heard you may test positive on a PCR for up to 90 days.

Our Walgreens is also scheduling only one week ahead.  I sure hope they don't decide to end the program in the next 10 days!! 😬

  15. I am very sorry, and I have read the testing thread above, and the Information on the Princess site.

However, I just would like to hear from someone who used Walgreens in their home state - how it went.

I booked a last minute cruise out of FLL that leaves the weekend of March 4th, and I'm weighing my options. Might be too late to order kits, and it's $$ compared to Walgreens - but I don't want to put all my eggs in an unreliable basket!

    Thanks!!

  16. For my previous cruises, I have  normally have purchased and been very happy with the value of my cruise insurance through third parties.  However, the 90% FCC for Cancel for any reason is sure appealing.  When I add CFAR to my other vendors, the price is very high. Other than CFAR is a personal priority for me,  what am I missing?

    Thanks!

  17. Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but we are looking into these cabins.  Any more input?

Sadly, no higher categories are currently available, and OV availability on the Summit 2022 New England cruise is getting to be slim pickings.

Perhaps we should move up a few doorstop 3120.  They are marked as having adjoining room doors, but may be better.  I would love to have these larger windows left over from the conference center!

My wife's worked for the US Military in Bedford Mass during that period. He got the swine flu vaccine and within 72 hours he was put on a ventilator .

    Interesting!!

My father was stationed at Hanscom AFB in Bedford in 1976. Was that where your wife’s relative was? We moved in October of that year, and I don’t recall if we got the vaccine.

  19. Just off the Star last month and opened up the balcony door on Caribe deck between cabins C231 and C227. It was a door with a latch hook and eye set up. Worked fine, and we left open the entire trip with no problem.
We brought the bungee cords, because they worked so well when we did this on the Coral. On the extended Balconies of the Caribe deck, the bungee cords did not work. Too far to go all the way around, and the opened door did not sit flush like it did on the Coral.

  20. Mike,

Yes, the whales were active in Maui!  We brought our binoculars and were able to see some off our balcony as around the time we were scheduled to leave.

I didn't spot any other ships while we were out at sea.  Seas were a bit choppy on our first day out, but not too bad otherwise.

XBGuy gave a great recap! We caught a few of the shows, and enjoyed them. I enjoyed the music trivia too.

  21. Mike,

We were on the Star LA to Hawaii on Jan. 13 - 28, last month.

I have the patters, but with 4 pages each for 15 days, I don't have the time to scan them all, I am sorry.

I'd be happy to answer what questions you may have.

We had a wonderful cruise, and found the crew to be very friendly.  I had read about the leaks/drips here and there, and it is true that being on a ship for 15 days, you do notice these things.  But overall, no major issues for us.  We were in a Caribe balcony near the front - C231.
