  1. From what has been said, set dining will be assigned a specific dining room for their dinner meals. According to X’s site, you can attempt to eat at one of the other restaurants if they are available.

We are currently assigned to the early seating and I have been unable to change this time to anytime dining. We are on a waitlist to change so we can attempt to try all the main dining g restaurants as well as some of the specialty restaurants.

If that is the case, then will try to change it to anytime or once aboard will try to rotate our main dining options as have no interest in dining in the same restaurant every night when so many dining venue options are available …

  2. It has been informative reading everyone's opinion re: LPC. The last time we cruised with Celebrity was aboard the Silhouette on a two-week cruise; as we were in AquaClass we pretty well dined every evening in Blu as we were quite impressed with the cuisine and service back then. We have an upcoming cruise aboard the Edge early next year so was interested in the available Specialty Dining options.

With the limited fixed menu offering was curious what made LPC a $50 upcharge, if its uniqueness is the animated aspect. It looks quite interesting but if you have been aboard any of the Disney ships, then the experience in Animator's Palate would be very hard to beat; although I would believe that the cuisine quality is much better aboard Celebrity

But it's been quite a few years since we've been on Celebrity so I am hoping that the dining is as good as I remember ...

  3. There have been a few changes since that came out. For one, Le Grand Bistro has Le Petit Chef every night instead of once/sailing. The other thing I've seen elsewhere is that the Rooftop Garden Grill will have specialty burgers at lunchtime (for a fee) and BBQ for dinner. It still all sounds pretty good to me! :D

This thread has a lot of info, if you have some time on your hands....:D

    Thanks …

  4. From what I can gather, the menu is:Bouillabaisse Soup

    Shellfish, Tomato, Lemon, Herbs

    Roasted Half Lobster

    Butter, Lemon

    Filet Mignon*

    Broccoli, Potatoes, Bordelaise Sauce

    Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae

    Fudge Sauce, Whipped Cream

Can a person request substitutions, for example, if one is allergic to seafood / shellfish? If the only entrée is a Filet Mignon, would it not be better to go the Fine Cut Steakhouse venue instead? Thanks for any opinions.

  5. Due to the cover charge, when dining at this restaurant and any other dining venue requiring a cover charge, are you restricted to one of each of the appetizer, entrée and dessert? In other words, can one order two steak entrees from Fine Cut if dining there?

  6. My two cents ... I found it a bit surprising that ECV are not allowed on Viking Ocean ... not sure if it applies to Viking River also ... surprising considering the age demographics that tend to go on these type of cruises ... I've seen scooters on every line from Disney to Celebrity to Carnival and so forth ...

I agree whole heartedly kitty9 ... one can be totally oblivious until something happens to them or a loved one that changes their lives ... and bless that person who ages and doesn't require the use of a mobility device ...

If Viking was the only game in town, then I would be concerned ... Viking may be one less option for those who require ECVs ... but the great thing is that other cruise lines are available to provide the cruising experience ...

  7. I too was on the EBPC cruise and yes the aft stairs were always very warm. I know deck 9 going into beach blanket the doors are open most of the time with people going in and out to the pool area. Also deck 4 where you can go out to the promenade deck was also very warm. The forward staircase smelled bad for half the trip. By route 66 it always had a stench.

I found the adult entertainment lacking. I'm a male in my late 30's and I just do not find origami, or cutting out paper 3d things much fun. The guy who wrote the love boat song we did not go see, We tried to see the "bell of Broadway" but she too was not our thing. We had a blast don't get me wrong but my wife, 2 sons and I spent many hours with nothing to do. Both my sons found the clubs not much fun. My younger son (9) really did not like half the staff. He found them rude, they were asking if he wanted a drink he said yes, they replied that it was not a yes or no question. He did not hear them ask if he wanted juice, milk or water. There were other kids the ripped up another kids project and laughed about it, the staff did nothing to the kid that ripped up the project.

I am happy I tried Disney, but we will be taking our cruise dollars elsewhere.[/QUote]

Was there a good run of movies in the Theatre? My understanding is that the PC cruises have less families due to the itinerary etc ... so was the adult entertainment or lack of more noticeable because of the 5 days at sea than it would be when you have a Port of Call every 2nd day?

  8. That is a good point. But it was so hot that I can't imagine many people even using their balconies. We were afraid to open ours as the cabin was so warm. On this cruise OUR balcony was a total and complete waste of money.

Was it that hot during the entire cruise ... more so through the PC? Is it hot like cruising the Eastern Caribbean? Was the AC inadequate in keeping your stateroom cool if you refrained from opening your balcony door? Was it in the 30's (Celsius as we're Canadian :) ...

  9.

Demographics: Geezer - median probably 65

Were some people surprised to see how physical it can be touring Europe?

Pools: Warm (almost too); salt water

Did you try the Thalossotherapy pool?

Cruise Director: excellent; very visible; musically talented

Deck 9: shuffle board; miniature golf; bocce; outdoor workout equipment

Pool Grill: hamburgers 8 ways; foot longs; salad bar; delicious

    Any Angus beef burgers? Bratwursts?

Personnel: well trained; multi-national; excellent English

Re: tipping ... if you can charge tips to your credit card at the end of the cruise instead of tipping them in cash, how does your stateroom steward etc know that you have tipped them?

Alcohol: yes please, oops; decent wines; Sapphire gin; could use a better vodka and rum </=$9

Unfortunately the one thing that is a big draw for the majority of people booking a Viking cruise means little for us ... as we do not drink wine or beer. Did you try any of the specialty coffees? (We don't drink coffee either but can give it a try if offered in decaf)

    Laundromat: 3 wash/dryers/deck; detergent included

Deck chairs: only full on a sea day at the pools, but other locations open

Any other onboard activities during sea days? Any movies in the theatre?

Lunch pasta bar: not every day, pasta can't be fresher - they make the stuff as you watch at the pasta bar!

So can they make "anything" that you want ... like Spaghetti Carbonara or Linguine Vongole?

Hygiene; hand sanitizer AND an inconspicuous hand washing sink at the entrance to every restaurant.

Today: Straights of Messina; Italy a mile to left; Sicily a mile to the right

    Done

    Sláinte!,

Questions in red. Re: disembarkation - luggage left outside the stateroom the evening before - or did majority of people manage their own when leaving?

    Thanks
