Is the Edge still doing cruises? I see it is scheduled on the Port Everglades schedule?

Kinda a sad sight watching her leave with no passengers (or wife and I), but she sounded good. Best wishes to all the crew and staff still on board. God bless.

There two none Hal ships docked. Are those ships still sailing with passengers on cruises?

We boarded the Volendam in 2014 for a South Pacific crossing to Australia from that dock.

Thank you for the fleet update.

There are still , non american, passengers of Amsterdam in Freemantle unable to get flights home as they cannot go nonstop and carriers are refusing non native passengers. Ie, only repatriating their own.
They are stuck.
do you know that for sure or just guessing?

Sounds like a great idea, but why would they not allow able bodied passengers to stay also if they wanted too?

I have to agree with Shebag, especially now after our own medical problem while on the Noordam. DW would not be able to climb into lifeboat, that became more evident as we were travelling, changing planes, needing assistance. I am glad it never came to having leave by lifeboat, but was almost harder on her than me (I had the health problem). I have to say that our cruising days are over.

I agree 100%. Once you are off the ship....you are OFF the ship! No matter how nice staff is, no matter what is promised, HAL just wants you OFF! Then you don't know about flights. Which are cancelled, etc. They don't even care if you threaten them with a lawsuit. Some lines may not even be around 3 months from now. Some will most likely merge with others. A true nightmare. Good luck.
I disagree 100%. My health situation back last Nov. 2019 when I was taken off the Noordam in Noumea, New Caledonia and taken to a hospital. Hal and the Port Authority were in constant contact with the whole to time we were there (8 days). We also received phone calls from Hal when we got home. The most certainly were concerned. Thank you very much Hal. BTW I do agree that my situation does not match was is happening now and I feel certain Hal does care.

Which insurance carrier? Medical evacuation at sea is a SAR function, as outlined in the UN's SAR convention, and as such is carried out by national agencies, or in some cases, private firms contracted to national agencies, and at no charge. As for notifying the patient's insurance that they are being transported to a land hospital, for whatever treatment is covered by the insurance, no, the ship will not do that.
When I was taken off the Noordam in New Caledonia, as of Oct. 1, 2019 it was reported that you had to have medical coverage in order to be taken of a hospital in Noumea. Some time in process of my being cared for in the ship, the information of my coverage was obtained from my wife, because the next day a form was given me stating that my insurance carrier knew of my condition and had assigned a case number to me. DW doesn't recalled when it happened because of the concern over me, but it did. The good news is we were well taken care off by Hal medical staff,, the Port Authority, the hospital and Hal head office, they contacted us a number of times to enquire of how I was recovering, even when we got home.

Thank you for explaining the procedures of the medical team on a Hal ship. I recently had a personal experience on the Noordam and can tell you they did exactly the care I needed as described above. I am most grateful to them and God for how they medically treated me, got me to a hospital for further treatment and also to Hal for the care and kindness they showed to my wife. Thank you to all who took part. God bless

Well, I think it is time that I chime in here a little bit. We are very fit senior citizens but all of a sudden things can happen and did. We were on the 2018 Grand Asia ready to depart in Sydney and all of a sudden two days before departure my DH had to go to medical. The lady Dr. on the ship was excellent and after a few tests very quickly determined what was the problem. We were transferred to a beautiful, new university hospital and had a wonderful Dr. from Sri Lanka. The problem: He suddenly needed a pace maker. (Two days prior he was doing the "twist" in the Crow's Nest). Absolutely no warning!!
While in the ER I received this call from someone that I did not recognize. It was HAL calling us from Seattle. Wanting to know if we were o'k and if we wanted HAL to notify our children. The next day they called again and then the day we were discharged they called my DH and told him they would keep track of us until we left the country.
HAL and the port authority took very good care of us. The medical team on the ship called our insurance company to make sure everything was in order. The hospital Dr. talked to Travel Guard so the insurance company would know every procedure. Travel Guard paid every penny of the $16,000.00 bill.
Sorry this is so long but I wanted to relay our experience. Oh, and by the way, he is doing excellent and just went on a 22 day cruise to South America. However, me lugging around two 29" suitcases and 4 carry-ons to get home from Australia was no picnic and therefore he has limited me greatly!!!
I would like to add that Hal and the Port Authority did the very same for DW and myself when I was taken off the Noordam in Noumea, New Caledonia last Nov. 2019 and hospitalized for eight days. We could have asked for greater care taken of us and helped us return home safely. Thank you Holland America and Fabian of the Port Authority in Noumea.

Good morning everyone!!
Just an update to all!!
❤️ HAL is reimbursing all independent air flights we have a form to fill out and to show receipts. We just received our stateroom bill and no charges! They gave us back everything except to our dear stewards! I found our stewards Fran and Rako gave them Thank you cards with $50.00 each and told them we cared!!
They are assisting all passengers who had flights with HAL and Hotels getting them rebooked and we have shuttles taking us to airport from HAL..
100% all monies back for our cruise and 100% FCC.
Take care all!
Getting ready to leave Rotterdam
Denise😊
Thank you for the update. What you did sounds wonderful. God bless and have safe journey home.

Doesn't you getting your costs back and you having your health. We know from an experience recently what it is to be sick in a foreign land and then having to be home again. Thank God it all went well, but I would not wish that on anyone. Not meant to put you down, just a caution to what could be.

We had to leave the Noordam last November in Noumea, New Caledonia and was in the hospital there for eight days. The port authority's, along with Hal helped us with our stay and in booking our return flights home. All went well and our insurance took care of a lot of the extra expense. We were very happy with how it was handled. However, I do not want to do that again, so our cruising days are no doubt over, our ages being the most likely reason.

The Celebrity website is no better, fact maybe even worst, cannot get past selecting a cruise and date, but nothing after that. Just get a black screen. So not just a Hal problem.

The performers who have CD's available for purchase may have something after a performance to do it the "recording or photograph taking", don't you think? I sure sales are probably very low.

On the Koningdam there is motion light that comes on when you get up and move around the cabin and goes out again once you are back in bed or not moving around in the cabin.
Our motion light worked fine, never had a problem with it.

We just say "No Thanks" and walk on by. Sometimes, I'll add "We still have some from our last cruise we have not sold yet".
We do the same, there is no need to get nasty, they are providing a service that you can make use of or not. I will admit on our last cruise some of the on board evening photographers could of used a course in good manners.
It is late here in Naperville but I have a wish
