I've been there, but not with HAL. Steps are really close together, handrails are really low and the locals actually have picnics on the steps. Really cool sight to visit.

What are the pros/cons of getting a table in the MDR for just your family/group versus sharing a larger table with strangers.
Best/worst experiences for each way (alone/ with strangers)?
Last cruise, my husband and I saw a party of 6 and a few empty chairs and then a party of 2 at the end, alone. Just struck me as the 'unwanted table mates'. We enjoy the table for 2 since the tables are so close together it seems as if we're all table mates. Worst for us? A family with little ones who were ill behaved such as crawling under the table, walking around while we were trying to eat......no thanks, raised our kids.

We don't use a TA except for cruises. Our current TA is part of a very large online organization who also has brick and mortar cruise stores. The gal we're using is quite nice but she's new. Will never, ever do that again. She knows nothing. I ask a question, she says she'll contact Holland and get back to me FOR EVERYTHING. Heck, I could contact Holland myself. Never again. That may seem harsh, but our cruises are expensive and we use an agent for their expertise.

Thinking I am sorry I asked...but glad I can make a 12 noon flight.

Ha ha. Great comment. Have me chuckling.

Canelleto.....have eaten there when it was free, twice on one cruise. Will I be willing to pay to eat there? Na. Nothing wrong with it, I just feel not worth the $$ when there are so many other places. For us, it wasn't in a separate dining room, but in the Lido area and there was probably a foot or less between us and our neighbors.

Just made ressies this week for the Pinnacle Grill. I ended up calling because I wanted to charge to a different cc than what we're using while on board. We leave in mid September. Easy Peasy.

Thanks for the info. Each person 21 or older (various ages per country regulations) can bring one bottle in our carry on, so we can bring 3 in our carry ons. We can bring more, but will be subject to the $18.
-
Carol, you can bring one bottle of wine on pp (up to two people in the cabin) without charge. You can bring additional bottles of wine on board at embarkation or in ports provided you will pay the $18 corkage (or HAL will store them for you).
Now, the "free" bottle operates by the old rules - in cabin consumption only. The bottles you pay corkage on can be consumed anywhere on the ship. Just make sure that the sticker is on them.
You can still bring all the soda, water, etc. That you can CARRY ON (wine is also carry on).
You can order just about anything for your cabin - whether it be wine, liquor, etc. Prices are on the HAL site. Just log in, select your cruise and indulgences/beverages and you will see the list and various prices.
You can also order when you get on board.
If you happen to be a 3 or 4* mariner, remember that the mini bar and wine packages (Navigator and Admiral) are at a discount. (25% for 3* and 50% for 4*).
You can order the wine packages for delivery to your room on line or on board if you so desire or, even have a portion of your package sent to your room.
There are 3 adults in our suite, can't we each bring one bottle?

will be on the Oosterdam, SB7093 and want to know how many closets are available to use. One of our (adult) kids decided to tag along.
Thanks

Thanks everyone. So, I can't log into my account on Holland America and see the OBC there?
Gal we're using is great, but even with our travel experience we have, wish we would of dealt with someone with more experience. Ask her a question, she doesn't know and says she has to look it up. Pretty sure concerning the question we ask, but just wanting to make sure since it's been a few years since we last cruised on Holland. Lesson learned.

Made our final payment next week and am wondering if there is any way we can check if our onboard credits
have been posted to our account. Dealing with a newbie travel agent and just don't want anything not done correctly.

Just made our final payment today and our TA couldn't answer my question (she's a newbie). Our adult daughter is tagging along on our Alaska cruise and we want to know the process to have our daughter use her own credit card while on the cruise. Is it done once we board, prior to boarding through the TA, etc.....
Thanks

It is three hours from LA to Seattle.
I'd think the 6am flight. You'd land at SeaTac at 9, wait around for an hour or so to get your luggage, etc and waiting for the shuttle to get you to the pier. Almost perfect timing.

Hi HALers,
Need some advise. Wife thinks I might be over reacting. Sailing 9/10 on Oosterdam from SEA @ 4PM. Flying up that morning from LAX @ 7AM.
Alaska Air just notified me that flight was canceled and I've been rebooked @ 8:10AM. The only earlier flight is 6AM.
I know it's just an hour later but I wanted as much cushion as possible.
Should I just relax or book the 6 AM?
You're on our cruise, thought something looked familiar reading your post. How long is your flight? I think you should take the 6am flight. Live in Seattle, if you have any questions, will be more than happy to try and help.

Let's talk about these OBC's...........
I keep seeing folks talking about OBC's. Why is there such a variance in the amount received? Is it who you booked with, Mariner Status?
-
We always leave our iPads, etc out and have never had any issues. These folks can't get very far if they do steal from the customers and I'm sure they're worried about having to 'walk the gangplank' if caught.
-
Thanks for the info. Want it empty for wine, water, etc.
-
Man, that sucks. Sorry.

Final payment question
We're going to make a final payment in a week or so. Should I give my requests to my TA to forward to Holland? Things like emptying the thE fridge (or whatever it is), etc.
-
They did for us.

Uber!

Which sailing / itinerary? We're on Oosterdam's 9/30 departure from San Diego to the Mexican Riviera.
Ours departs 9/10 from Seattle for Alaska.

Does anyone have experience with the neptune suite sofa bed? Our suite has the sofa bed for two. We are wondering if we will need additional padding for it to be comfortable. There will be one person (shorter height) using it.
Thank you!
I don't have personal experience but through the thousands of posts here, have read it's comfortable, no complaints. Please don't ask me where the posts are, too many to remember.

We will be on the Oosterdam in Sept this year and one of our adult kids is coming along. Will be in a suite (SB7093) and was wondering if there is some type of privacy curtain or something to separate the room for sleeping. We were on Princess once and they had them, thought it was such a great idea.

Our last cruise, we booked an SA not really knowing much about it (our upcoming cruise is an SB). We felt so 'special' having a Neptune Suite, from the Neptune Lounge to eating breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. If we needed anything, the concierge in the Neptune Lounge was there. We visited it many times a day for their treats to their coffee. The room size is wonderful as is the size of the bathroom and the make up area, free laundry, robes, slippers, need I go on? As others have stated, once you experience this, you'll never want to go back!
