  1. We are not fixated on one cruise line. The 2 we have narrowed it down to are 2 different cruise lines. But cost is a factor and so we are looking at roundtrips only. Airfare is a definite factor. If we cruise out of Vancouver, we will be flying into Seattle and finding transportation to Vancouver.

So do almost every cruise out of Seattle take the Oceanside and not the Inside Passage?

  2. We are looking for a cruise to Alaska for next year. We have narrowed it down to 2 different cruises. One goes through the Inside Passage from Vancouver and goes to Hubbard Glacier. The other leaves from Seattle and goes to Glacier Bay. We are a group of 5 60 year olds. We would like to know which you prefer and why. We know that everything is subjective to personal preference but would like to have other peoples opinions to help us decide.

Getting really excited looking at all the reviews and pictures from Alaska.

  3. We have FTTF and will be off the ship as soon as it gets released. I think we will try it. We get home so much sooner by taking that flight. It is a nonstop, and if we wait for the next one we have to stop and don't get home until 5 hours later.

    Thanks for your reply!

  4. How about a 10:30 time out of FLL, getting off the Conquest in January? I know I did this once before after getting off a Princess ship, but it was quite sometime ago and I know things change.

    Thanks for any help!

  5. So does anyone know if they still do this on the Victory at the wine bar or in the steakhouse? The last few cruises we have been on had the martini tasting at the Alchemy bar. I am hoping that since the Victory hasn't been upgraded that they still do the wine tasting.

  6. I am set to sail on Monday. My question is do they still have the wine tasting on the Victory. I know that it has not been upgraded yet to the Alchemy Bar but still has the wine bar. I really would like to do a wine tasting (not into the martini's so much). As I recall they used to do a wine tasting for around $15. This would pair different wines with different types of snack foods. I hope the answer is yes they still do this!

  7. Has anyone used Karib's lately? I have contacted them and the replied almost immediately. I have a cart spoken for in January, and I don't have to pay up front. I was just looking for someone who has used them and had a good outcome recently.

  8. Thanks for the replies. I applied this evening and received the $10 drop and the $50 onboard credit. I am a happy camper! Was beginning to think there wouldn't be any price drops for this cruise and now have $110 onboard credit for our cabin in less than a week.

  9. I was just looking at the new sale that Carnival is having. I am booked to go on Victory on January 19th. We are early saver. Our current price after the last price reduction we got is $918 for a balcony 8c cabin. Can we take advantage of any of the new sale prices. I thought maybe we would qualify for the Choose N Cruise-Ultimate. It is for $908. It also lets you choose your cabin, so does that mean we stay in the ones we chose with early saver? Also it includes $50 obc, would we get that?

    Thanks for the help!

  10. My camera got salt water in it on our 1st stop and quit working. I couldn't be without pictures, so I bough a Nikon on board. They were having a sale on it and I decided to purchase it. I did check online at several places when I got home, to see if I got a good deal or not. It was a pretty good deal. I saw a some a few dollars cheaper, but most where a little higher that I paid. I have been quite happy with the camera and have had it for 2 years now.

  11. Hey fellow Jayhawker, we have cruised out of both FLL and MIA. We have always had a fairly early flight back to MCI and have always made it. Now I know there may be a time when we will have trouble, but I think it will effect lots of people's flights not just ours. I would much rather be on that flight back to Kansas City rather than sitting in an airport until late afternoon. I will always book that earlier flight.

  12. I haven't been on either ship, but I did sail on the Fascination out of Jacksonville. We thought the ship was ok, but the dinning room seemed like we were packed in like sardines. We decided then that we didn't want to go on a fantasy class ship again. We are sailing on Victory in January and looking forward to it. Hope what ever you decided, that you have a fantastic voyage! I have never found a cruise I didn't like.

  13. I am not a smoker and am quite happy with Carnival's decision. I just wanted to put in my 2 cents to the people who think they need to be compensated for airlines and hotel rooms. I say cancel the cruise if you are unhappy and just use your airline tickets and vacation time in the city you were to board from. You should be able to find plenty of places to smoke in the city (but not in the hotel rooms or restaurants I'd venture to say.)

  14. We are always up early, so excited about starting the cruise. We usually eat breakfast, and then get a taxi to the port. That usually gets us there around 9:30. People are still getting off from the last cruise and we have to stand outside and wait to be let in. We use FTTF and like to get checked in and then sit and people watch until we get to board. We hate to sit around the hotel (did that for my 1st cruise as we had cruise transportation.) Found out I would much rather be sitting at the pier looking at the ship than waiting at the hotel!
