    That is wild.
Any chance you know how many that disembarked were trying to get back to the USA? I would also think there were lots of people who just drove home that might have been positive. One staff member told me there were 70 staying on from the cruise that left FLL as we got off on the 16th.

I hope the rest of your journey is pleasant and you stay healthy.

I would say there were more than 70 staying on for the May 1 cruise. I would guess a few hundred based on what I saw. No idea how many going back to uS

This is absolutely crazy!  This should get the attention of the press or put on social media (Princess Twitter or Facebook).  It is not right to put strangers in the same room with one bed.

Is Princess paying for quarantine rooms at the Radison Blu?

I believe so and you get a per diem for food. Was told you can stay anywhere and then submit for insurance reimbursement. But there must be a limit on what they will reimburse. Ibis and Radison Blu at Heathrow are the designated Princess Covid hotels

Wouldn’t Princess need to report the positive cases to the port? I would think any port would be hesitant to have a ship dock with so many cases.
I do think Princess should release the correct numbers. Social media posts might not be accurate.😏

I am on Emerald Princess now and was on the Transatlantic portion and now doing the British isle cruise. Yes there was a high outbreak onboard Emerald during TA portion. They tested everyone 2 days after embarkation and took some people to Covid cabins on 12th floor. I would say about 6-7 days into cruise before our first port more people got sick. After first port even more. By the time we hit Bilbao there were a lot more infected. At that point they started requiring masks indoors and stopped all bar counter service. When we docked in Southampton they reques all transit passengers to go thru immigration in Club Fusion abs then go to the dining room to get their Covid test for returning to US. Problem was they were very backed up with Covid tests and only able to email results to you an hour later. So you didn’t know until you were at airport if you were positive. Lots and lots were positive. You then had to figure out what hotel to go to- they are using Ibis abs Radison Blu. At the Radison the hotel was trying to put strangers together in the same room with one bed and if you refused they said you had to pay for room yourself. There is suppose to be a Princess Rep at the hotels but they are non existent. No clear instructions on whether you are there 5 or 10 days. A lot of People are very unhappy with IBIS hotel and leaving to find another hotel. No real support from Princess and poor communication. They should have tested the day before disembarkation since they would still have been within 24 hour deadline but then they would have had to deal with all the positive people. They are deliberating waiting to last minute to test abs not giving you results until you are off the ship so it is t their problem. They ran out of Covid rooms on 12 th floor and started isolating people in their own rooms.

There were a lot of upset people who where missing shuttles to airports due to long Covid testing line on ship this AM. They were telling people to get tested at airport but when they got to airport their were no appointment available in time to meet their flight times. This happened to our traveling companion who ended up testing positive.

No…her stylus pen moved so fast on both of our iPhones & in about a minute for each phone both functions worked for the remainder of our cruises. 👍👍😊

We had same problem and they fixed it. The problem is at top of page it showing “loading” which is the issue. To fix it you click on your picture at top left of screen and then scroll down to bottom and sign out.  Then click the box where your picture should be and resign in again.  Fixed the issue and we were able to use the DMW on the app with no issue

  5. It has been 10 years since we’ve cruises on Princess. Back then we used to bring a 6 pack of soda on board and keep them in our fridge.

we are traveling in a couple weeks with someone that just wants to bring a few cans on board to have available. Doesn’t want to purchase soda package since she doesn’t drink that much soda.

Are you still allows to bring on a small amount of Soda cans?

We flew to Lisbon for 3 days post cruise from Barcelona back in 2019.  We stayed in a beautiful apartment via VRBO versus paying a hotel and it was perfect.  Right on the main strip on Rua Augusta. It was just me and my bf at the apartment but my best friend and her husband and daughter flew in from Germany to join us for our 3 days in Lisbon.  We took a private tour with Lisbon Riders - https://lisbonriders.com/ . We did the Sintra and Cascais tour. It was slightly more to book a private tour than if we had booked their shared tour but we wanted the flexibility of having the driver and day to ourselves.  For us, it was worth it to pay the extra and just be driven around and not have to worry about anything.  We had a fabulous time! You could always email them to see what their options are and what sites would be open.

Could you provide link to the Vrbo you rented. We are looking for one also

Toasted Almond Martini and Rasberry Crème Brûlée Martini

We have not been on Princess since they started offering drink package. We usually cruise Celebrity so are familiar with their drinks We have an April Princess cruise with the drink package so can’t wait to try their drinks

the raspberry Creem brûlée martini sounds delicious.

  8. Thank you all for your assistance. I will look into booking an airport hotel for the 23rd.

We won’t be spending 8 days in Sydney pre cruise. We have friends I. The Newcastle area and will spend a few days with them after a few days in Sydney.  Still trying to figure out how to divide up the time,

  9. We need a hotel after our cruise in Sydney for 1 night. We will be catching a 11 am flight back to USA the day after the cruise.

fyi we will have already spent 8 nights pre-cruise exploring Sydney so we don’t need anything too fancy. It will be Dec 23rd.

i have Marriott points and hopefully some Holiday Inn points by then.

also is there a Marriott hotel that is good for a few days pre cruise that is good for exploring Sydney. Would like to use my points,

thanks for assistance - we are booking this cruise at the last minute and we arrive in Sydney Nov 22

  10. We just returned from Alaska trip. We booked train independenpetly from Anchorage to Seward. Train left at 6:30 am and we arrived at 11:05 in Seward.

There is a free shuttle bus in Seward that meets you and can take you to cruise ship or other places in town.

Train ride was fantastic- we splurged for the Gold Star service at $200 per person and it covered the dome train reserved seats, breakfast in dining room and two adult beverages.

  11. Anyone have experience with handicap rooms with oceanview on Noordam.

We got upgrades via guarantee room and it is a handicap room.

I understand that they are larger and only have shower but wanted idea of how much bigger

  12. just got our guarantee room assignment on the Noordam for oceanview room and got a handicap room.

I checked with HAL and they said difference is no tub and room is larger.

Does anyone have any experience with what the handicaps oceanview rooms are like?

  13. Arriving on HAL Noordam at end of June at dock D and renting car for day from Juneau Car Rental which is at Dock A. It is 3 miles from Dock D.

Are there cabs readily available when you get off the ship or do we need to call a cab?

  14. We are also renting a car in Juneau for late June crushed.

Planning on doing glacier, Shine of St Theresa. Also would like to stop at Aku Bay for a quick look, maybe also the Alaskan Brewery for a quick tour and tasting. We wanted to go to the Salmon Hatchery on our way back downtown. But it appears if we do all of the above we won't be back until 3:30 which doesn't give much time for walking around downtown. Trying o figure out what to drop. Glacier and Shrne are the important things to do with a car.

  15. what is the dress code on an Alaskan cruise. We have been on numerous other Carribean cruises but never Holland.

We will be doing one week pre cruise land trip in our own, followed by Seward to Vancouver one week cruise.

What do people wear to dinner in Alaskan cruises? Is it more casual than carribean cruises? What about formal nights? Would among sleeve shirt and tie and khaki pants be sufficient for the men?

  16. Arriving in Vancouver in July from Alaska southbound cruise. Renting a condo for several days and need to store luggage at cruise terminal upon arrival. We want to tour city before checking into condo.

I understand that there is a baggage storage family for cruise customers at the terminal.

Any idea the cost of storing luggage. The company's website doesn't have prices and they are hard to get hold of.

Our only other option is to stay at a hotel instead of a VRBO condo since we can drop off luggage at hotel in the AM

  17. Family of 4 with 2 children, ages 3 and 7. Will be flying into Miami airport and going to Port of Miami.

Trying to figure out best and most economic way to get to the port since I understand that we need a car seat for the 3 year old.

Am I correct that we wouldn't be able to use a cab or Uber since they wouldn't have a car swear.

We don't want to have to bring our own since that is a pain.

  18. We have never cruise HAL, been on Celebrity/Princess. Looking at a couple HAL Southbound cruises June 2017

We are probably going with an oceanview room and prices are similar between

Xaandam and Noordam. However there is a huge price difference on their balcony prices with Zaandam being more expensive.

Not being familiar with HAL ships - is there a big difference between these ships? Is one more preferable than the other.

We are flexible on our dates so could choose either ship.

  19. I'm looking at cruises (Princess vs Holland) and the main difference is that Holland goes to Haines and Princess goes to Skagway.

Which is a preferable port. I know that they are near each other and if you land I. Haines you can take at a cost boat over to Skagway.

Is there anything worth doing in Haines or is it usually preferable to be in Skagway.

I'm finding that the Holland cruises see a little cheaper than Princess but if we plan on visiting Skagway and have to pay to get there from Haines maybe it is better to just go with Princess.

    Any opinions greatly appreciated.

We are doing land portion on our own so that doesn't figure into the equation on picking a cruise line.

  20. Planning Alaska Southbound cruise from Anchorage area to Vancouver for 2017.

Doing a land trip on our own prior to the cruise.

Question is what is the disadvantage to cruising at the end of August into first week of Sept vs. going in Late June or early July?

Cruise prices are a bit cheaper at the end of August. What would we be missing by going later in the season. I'm not looking for the later Sept cruises but ins that start around last week of August
