  1. You actually only need about 20 seconds of hand washing but the key is friction, rub the soap between your hands.

Thank you for posting!  I fully agree.  The first thing I do when I get into my stateroom on Embarkation Day is to wipe everything down with antibacterial wipes.  It takes a whopping 5 minutes to do this and is well worth the peace of mind.

We also thank the crew members offering hand sanitizer every time we are offered (and USE) this gift.

The cabin steward uses the same rag to clean cabins, Saturngrl do you lysol everyday?

I know this topic has been done to death.

Sailing the Silhouette for 14 days in Baltic in May, I cannot believe the cost of the wifi package which is £226 (290USD) unlimited for one device.

We sailed with Celebrity in the Med 2 years ago and just checked what we paid for the same package and it was £125 (160USD). This is nearly 100% increase when we all know that communication costs are falling.

I am a senior who will take an ipad for "housekeeping" purposes i.e., emails, bank transfers and sending the odd photo back home to the kids, barely 10 mins a day, probably 2 hours max for the whole cruise. This works out at circa £115 per hour (145 USD)  :classic_ohmy::classic_ohmy:

I do not want to spend precious shore time seeking free internet so what are my options? Can I pay as I go on board?

I agree the wifi is very slow.  If you are going to use it on the ship, then get unlimited on one of their sales.  I prefer to do this because I don't want to spend my time at the ports searching for free wifi.

  3. Good to know. My Global Entry isn’t up for renewal for two more years.

If anyone is renewing, Global Entry is only $15 more for five years than TSA Precheck. Additional perks in airports flying into the US are very worth it.

And it includes TSA precheck for that fee as well.

  4. Another tip for Downy wrinkle release: spray the night before or a couple of hours ahead. Spray, take your hands and "press" out the wrinkles. It will be a little damp from the spray and I find its dry and has less wrinkles if you hang a couple of hours.

  5. That same company has been doing an 80’s Cruise the past few years. (On Summit last year and this year, on Infinity next year), so that will be another week that will probably be blocked out at some point, most likely a week in March.

The 80's cruise is March 2-9th. I have a friend that booked last year.

  6. Hi All,

Interested to read all your comments over the upgrade on drinks package to premium.

My question is anyone aware of any current or future discounts off this price.

Ours works out $528 for a 16 night cruise which at current GBP exchange rate is just over £400.

Only reason I ask is I saw a post earlier today showing a 10% discount for such an upgrade but this was in June.

    Thanks everyone

    :)

When do you sail? I was able to snag a 30% discount a couple of months ago. You should wait for a sale if you can.

  7. I did the hike about 5 years ago. It was very difficult and steep at times. If you don't hike on a regular basis it will be difficult. Plus the height may effect you if you get height sickness (or have BP issues). I did not feel the trails up were safe. It explodes suddenly. It happened the week after we left and 2 died, so for that reason I would never go back. If you like a bit of a challenge enjoy the trip.

  8. We went with the family and had a great day. My kids also did the parasailing that was offered by a vendor on the beach. I don't think the drinks were very strong because I had about 12 margaritas and never felt tipsy (I am not a big drinker, 2 drink max usually). The food and service is good. Last time in Cozumel I went to Paradise beach because we didn't want to spend the day and they charge for the chairs and not an all Inclusive price. You will have a great day!

  9. On land I like to leave a tip every day for the housekeeping staff since they don't work 7 days a week. I leave a simple Thank you and occasionally I get one back, but do not think it is necessary.

On the ship these workers work very long hours for 10 months at a time. I leave the extra money and hope they get to keep it. I am not sure if they are expected to pool this cash or not. When I have done a b2b cruise, its nice because the room steward can do the extra cleaning, stocking, etc the day before and just clean our room on the last day when most are leaving.

I guess we all think differently about our tips and even what amount is generous.

  10. I just read that you have to go to the bar to get pop on Celebrity. If we're going to pay $9 a day it would be nice to have an easy refill station without flagging someone down or feeling like we owe a tip. Royal Caribbean should add the freestyle machines on all their ships and lines. Why not? Carnival's Bottomless Bubbles program is at least easy to use and only $7.50 per day. Neither of us drink heavy sugar drinks anymore, but I like my Diet Coke and Cindy mostly drinks the fizzy flavored water.

Any of you folks with me on this?

Carnival's program is at the bar and they usually fill the glass with bubbles and its about 1/2 the can. I have been given the can on Celebrity with my glass and ice. I feel that is so much better.

  11. First time sailing Celebrity (past cruises on HAL) and need advice about internet packages on the Summit for our Bermuda cruise leaving 7/22. Pricing right now for two devices for the entire cruise is $269 per adult for two devices. I’m confused by the per adult quote. Does this mean it’s $269 for me to logon with my iPad for the week and $269 for my DH on his iPad as well? Does anyone know if they will also be offering internet per day or per hour once we board? What have you found to be the most economical way to go with this? Thanks!

The wifi is slow at times, early morning or night time seem to be faster to me. You can sign in to 2 devices at one time. I use for my cell phone and can get I messages from Iphone from family and friends, check my email, etc. If I want to go on my Ipad, I sign off my phone and sign on to my Ipad. If there are 2 of you then 2 devices would be good if you both like to go online a lot. The unlimited is great, the by the minute seems to add up too fast for me.

You will need to decide how much you like to go online, etc. Just remember to put devices on airplane mode and turn on wifi to avoid additional charges. You can also turn on bluetooth with airplane mode if you want to sync fitbit, etc.

  12. I usually tip at the beginning about $20 and ask to have ice every afternoon and usually some extra hangers. I am a low maintenance guest, but I usually get great service. I tip extra at the end as well if I find they are hard working and they mostly are.

  13. Hi,

I have been told by locals to take a taxi from the cruise port to the fort first thing when you get off the ship. Spend time there and then taxi to the main square Plaza Bolivar. It looks like the walk would be about 2 +miles from the port but I am told it is often very hot so hard to walk that far even if you are used to doing that much walking at home.

Like in Mexico, set the taxi price before getting into the cab.

    It should be about $5 USA or 8,000 COP(about 2800 COP=$1USA)

Is the fort at the walled city?

  14. Isn’t the upgrade from classic to premium now $14/pp?

    Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Yes you are right but with the 20% off its $11.20 per day plus 18% gratuity. On my next 15 day cruise thats a big savings of just under $50!

  15. And I haven’t been able to get to the 20% off beverage package upgrades. I only get 20% off beverage packages (we already have the classic) and certain shore excursions and dining packages. So if we upgrade to Premium onboard, do we get 10% off (we’re elite)?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I had to call 2x today and did get the 20% off. The first said I did not have the classic beverage package with my booking and to call my TA (booked with a group and had to use their TA). I called the TA and she verified the classic beverage is the perk I picked. I called back and that representative said oh you are with a group, just hold on a minute while I check. She came back on and then verified I had the classic and was able to get me the premium package. I was not able to do on the website because the classic was not listed there. Fortunately the packages are listed now.

  16. We will be sailing Equinox 10-day Southern Caribbean in October. I need to be available for work, so I have taken advantage of the pre-cruise pricing and Captains Club discount on the 1-device unlimited internet package. I will therefore have access to internet and wi-fi calls at sea, but still need a solution on land. My carrier, AT&T, has an International Day Pass that allows me to use my phone the same way I do at home for $10 a day. It’s available in every port we will visit and if I don’t use it I don’t pay for it. I think this is a reasonable solution in the unlikely event that I must use my phone before I can access the ships wi-fi. I am fully aware of the unreliability of wi-fi at sea but I don’t see how cellular-at-sea access would be any better to justify the added cost.

I think I’ve reached a reasonable conclusion, but I wonder if I am overlooking anything…

ATT also has cellular service on some Celebrity ships for $100 for 30 days (talk and text), so would include your 10 day sailing. It also covers some ports so you would you have to check online to see if the ports are on your Itinerary.
