- We are flying into Newark airport on the red-eye from Vegas, and have transportation to the ship. We also fly out of Newark on Sept 8th at 2:30pm, so have ample time to get to airport. Some of my thinking for the rental car is that on Sunday, when we get off ship in morning, we can stow luggage and see a sight or two.
- Staying in Manhattan is not required, as long as we can get around - generally we would go out during the day and not really be out at night - either get dinner, bring dinner back to room, etc. My husband needs to get good rest to be on the move during the day. I would say I would like to keep it under $200/night - without a car rental I have more room for hotel. We have plenty of foodie experience in Vegas, but getting some NY bagels, pizza, etc, would also be fun. I read some posts about hotels in Staten Island having great views of Manhattan at night - but then read that you can get "stuck" there with bridges closed...
- I think it would be best for us to find lodging that is accessible to transportation - I do worry about the subway as my husband has a hard time with stairs.
- A short rental to go to the shore sounds great - we could do that on Wednesday - thanks!
Look at the Doubletree in Jersey City. $199 plus tax ($189 AAA rate). Other reasonable options would be the Marriott Courtyard and Candlewood Suites. These hotels are in the Newport area of Jersey City with PATH access to both midtown and downtown. There is a waterfront boardwalk with spectacular views of the city. You can also go to the top of the Westin and have drinks.http://www.panynj.gov/path/maps-schedules.html
Cab from the port to the accessible light rail to Jersey City is the public transit option to get to the Jersey City hotels for $2.25/pp. http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/LightRail/sf_lr_hblr_map.pdf
Staying in NJ will substantially reduce your transport costs from the port to the hotel and from the hotel to Newark airport. You can also rent a car in Jersey City which you can't do at the port.
weezieweeks, Can I suggest flying in a day before your original plans, just think about it, anything can happen, flight delays, flight cancellations, flights rerouting due to weather, and coming from Vegas chances are greater Red eye or not especially flying into one of our major ports here on the North East (NJ, NY). Getting a hotel one extra night is like having insurance that you won't "miss the boat". Just trying to be helpful, I heard way to many stories.

Quick question. Did you store your luggage under the bed? If so, was it tight getting it under?
I asked the same question on my roll call thread for a 12" deep bag, it won't be a problem at that depth.

Thank you for producing this video, I've been looking for a decent standard cabin video for quite some time now and finally, Thanks again and keep up the amazing work. I will be sharing this.

Went to see Spectra's Cabaret last night - my husband and I each gave it a thumbs down. Glad I saw it, but would never want to see it again! It was just a strange show.
On our way to San Juan today but we don't get there until 3 pm.
I watched a Youtube video on this show, I wasn't impressed by what I saw (Strange was also my thought). Was on the fence on whether or not to cancel or take a chance. Thanks for posting your experience, I think I will cancel the reservation.

Royal Caribbean has an excursion "Schooner sail-away and airport sightseeing" $79 for 3.5 hours.
Is anyone familiar with this excursion, is it worth the time and money?

Are the removal of shoes required at the Cape Liberty security check point?

Coffee was decent according to my husband and I had a few cups...not bad.
I can live with that, thank you.
-
Thanks for the feedback, just one very simple almost silly question, How was the coffee?
-
just got word from one of my sources that Capt Claus is currently working with the start up team on Ovation of the Seas.
Glad to hear that, Thank you.
-
Aren't Captains generally 10 weeks on, 10 weeks off? Has that changed?
My mistake. I don't know what I was thinking about. It happens a little to often anymore.
10 Weeks, yea, that's what I meant;)

Hello
Being a newbie, is there a way to look up or find out who and if Capt. Manrique
will be replaced April 10 sailing from Brazil to Venezuela on the Rhapsody?
Wayne
This is off the list, as I understand it they rotate every 6 months.
So it looks like the answer to your question is no.
Rhapsody OTS - Capt Dimas Manrique (started rotation 1-31-16)
Rhapsody OTS - Capt Johnnes
-
I read the one about him getting the boot, Hoping that is not the case.
-
So does anyone have any updated and confirmed information on Capt. Claus?
-
Look into the King Charles Inn at 237 Meeting St, it's a half mile from the port and plenty to do in the area. The prices were very reasonable when we stayed there.
-
This is one of LOONBEAMS photos I came across, It is from Anthem.........
-
The drink package looks very tempting now. Thank you.
-
Thank you for this, May be worth it to purchase the package after seeing these prices.
-
Does anyone have any questions?
As a matter of fact I do, Looking for the price of a glass of Pinot Grigio.
-
Looking for a recent menu with drink prices, I have read that drink prices have gone up but no luck locating prices, Specifically looking for the price of a Pinot Grigio.

Since we are on the food subject, where is a nice place to have Breakfast besides the WJ? Does the Two70 serve Breakfast?
-
OK, now you're giving out all the secrets :D:D:D
-
I have previously heard that Cafe Two70 was a good place to go on embarkation day but now I am hearing everyone has learned that and it is very busy. Does anyone know if the Diamond Lounge has anything available for lunch that day or where else would be a good place to go? My wife can't wait in lines so we avoid the windjammer. Thanks!
Since most of the passengers head to Two70 as soon as they board the Windjammer may not be that bad as far as waiting in line. And I see a nice place to sit out on the aft deck just off the WJ.

Thanks for the information.
