  1. I was faced with this dilemma once also. We did self-disembark, showed up at the designated spot 30 minuted ahead of time and were sitting at our gate at FLL by 8:30. Even though it worked well for us, I would not book a flight earlier than 11 AM in the future because of how much anxiety this situation produced.

  2. I've noticed a big difference in late night activity between cruises in the Caribbean and those in Europe. Europe itineraries are usually port intensive with early starts to the day and tours that require lots of energy. People seem to be headingnbackmtomtheirbcabinsnon hevearlybsidebto rest up for the net day. Caribbean cruises have much more of a party vibe. We love both.

  3. I sure hope that's true. I was looking at pictures of the thalassotherapy pool area in a Celebrity brochure that I have. It shows a beautiful area filled with greenery. It doesn't remotely resemble what I saw on the Summit. So easy to fix, they just need to make it look the way it used to look.

  4. First of all, I am a devoted Celebrity cruiser and have had a wonderful cruise on every sailing and every ship. I have never found any fault in the past with either the ships or service. Since 2007 we have sailed only on S class ships until a few weeks ago when we sailed Summit.

My aft cabin was fine, but the bathroom had a terrible smell that seemed to come from the shower drain.. The furniture, railing and floor of the veranda were in rough shape. The new public rooms were fine, but I wish they had left the Martini Bar the way that it was. There is very little space for groups of four or more to sit and feel like you're even in the Martini Bar.The rear deck for eating on deck 10 had a forlorn feel to it. The spa pool area was very unattractive, just white barren walls, no decor at all. Some of the lounge chairs in this area were missing cushions. I've sailed Constellation numerous times in its early years and always loved this space. Presently on Summit, it's very unappealing. The lounge chairs on Deck 11 are awful!!!!! They should have all been tossed and replaced during the refurb. They are worn, dirty, some broken and rusty and have no pads. When I walked on Deck 11, it was hard to believe I was on a Celebrity ship. Modern Luxury....NOT!!!! There were also large areas that appeared to be water stains on the carpeting on Deck 10 outside the buffet and on the carpeting near the aft elevators on Deck 10.

I still had a wonderful time on this cruise. Food and service were great, although I found the buffet to be lacking compared to what I've been experiencing on S class ships. I am disappointed that Celebrity seems to be lowering it's standards and that management finds the spa pool area and the horrible lounge chairs to be acceptable.

I'm already booked on the Summit again for March. This was booked a while ago for the itinerary. If I don't find improvements then, it will be my last sailing on an M class ship. I voiced all my complaints on both an Attention to Detail card early in the cruise and again on a comment card at the end. I had some conversations with other passengers during the cruise who were voicing many of the same complaints.

  5. I got off the Summit this morning. No free wifi on the ship. When docked in Bermuda there were signs everywhere about it being a wifi hot spot. I found a number of open wifi connections but my iphone just did not want to work with the wifi they had. It might be user error but its a first for me. That said, I found the week to be very peaceful and my internet withdrawal symptoms to be minimul. My 13 yr old son played his games on his phone and was fine with no internet.

The wifi hotspot signs in Bermuda refer to the wifi card you can purchasein Dockyard. I returned on the 19th on the Summit. I purchased a $15 card for 72 hours of Internet. I was able to use my ipad thevwholebtime Wevwerenin Bermuda anywhere in the pier area and on the ship on the starboard side. Imfound my best connection on the ship to be in Cafe al Bacio.

I also had the 90 minute Internet package onboard using my Elite coupon. The connection was the slowest I've ever experienced on any ship anywhere in the world!!! If I had paid $50 for it I would have been very upset. I burned through minutes at a rapid rate accomplishing very little.

  6. We were bumped from this cruise too. It's a family cruise for us and we had three cabins booked. Fortunately for us, we were not locked into the March 8 date, so we were easily able to rebook for March 22. Our 123 Go promo is still in effect, the itinerary is the same and the fantastic CC price we received from our agent was protected. We just had to shift our original cabins to ones that were a few doors away. We also will be receiving OBC of $200 per cabin as compensation. I feel badly for those who were locked in to the March 8 date. I I feel Celebrity should offer the OBC and price protection to all who book any Celebrity ship for that original sailing period.

  7. I just booked! What a great deal! I called my TA on Thursday to make this booking and she told me to wait until today because of the Celebrity promo that was to begin today. We chose the Classic Drink Package upgraded to Premium. We have to call our agent's customer service in two weeks to make the upgrade. My TA offered us pre-paid gratuities, plus we discovered that our concierge cabin selection was priced at $100 less per person than the price on Celebrity's website, so there was another $200 saved! Today was a very good day!!

  8. I was delighted to see the photo of Togi. We were on a 14 night Baltic cruise onboard Constellation in July and spent part of every evening in the Martini Bar. Togi is an exceptional young man, one of the most personable staff members I've met in all my past 14 cruises. We are so looking forward to seeing him again when we sail on the Solstice in March.

  9. We were on a Baltic cruise this summer on the Constellation and will be sailing on the Solstice in March. We discovered a number of our favorite staffers from Constellation were being transferred to the Solstice. We're looking forward to a reunion with them when we sail. They include the bar manager, a delightful young man whose name I don't remember. Also Bernard, a waiter in the main dining room on deck 5 who regularly sings opera arias, and a number of delightful crew from the Martini Bar, Togi the bartender, waitress Eleanor and our dining room sommelier, Randy. All of these mentioned are outstanding staff which leads me to believe that they are choosing the "best" from each of their ships to staff the Solstice.
