I had dinner in the Haven twice and did not notice what people were wearing. I really dont understand why this bothers some people.

Hi, I have a quick question. I saw you did the early walk off with your luggage. How early were they letting people get off? We are going in March and need to get off asap since we have a late morning flight out of FLL. Thanks!

We went up to the Haven restaurent at 615 AM and they called for us at 715 to get off ship. I know we were first off because there wad nobody in customs. We took crew elevatores to deck seven and we were off the ship. Not sure about the rest of ship.

if u dont mind spending the extra money the Haven is outstanding. your butler will get u anything u want for breakfast. I had steak and eggs for 5 days. they also will get you reservations for the restaurents, and you also have special seating for the shows. The Haven area was quiet and the whirlpools were never full. Also like you I spent a lot of time in the Casino and it was one of the busiest casinos Ive ever experence. Smoke does not bother me but being as big a ship as it was they should have built an enclosed room in the casino for smokers. They could have had the best of both worlds then. Also cruise ship food is want it is and I dont expect much from any of the restaurents. My only complaint was only 2 sets of elevators one the ship. we were in a suite 10706 far forwand and we really had a long walk to the elevator. Also being in the Haven we were the first off the ship, which really is a nice perk if you have a early flight.

One of my big grumps is that a solo pays $1000 more than the double rate on this cruise for special discount only given to 2 in a room they pay $1000 less.Now is that fair ROcketman?

Why not try NCL newer ships. They have solo cabins and you might be surprised at how nice these ship are. Just a suggestion.

I have done alot of research prior to my trip to know what I can expect and what I can ask for on the boat .... I am not sure they can bring you food from le bistro's since that is a specialty restaurant although I have heard people say they have been brought special deserts on occassion - HOWEVER , what i mean by order anything is that the card they give you to have breakfast to your room list items you can order but you can actually write down that you want a filet and eggs instead

Like everything else in life. If you tip well the butler will get you anything you want if available.

I find it amusing that so many say that drinks are free with the beverage package. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just look at cruise fares.

You are 100 percent correct. But u have to give Celebrity 100 percent credit for there marketing program. A lot of people think it's free. My friends just paid 300 dollars more per person then I did but they got the the FREE drink package. They also have come up with aqua class which is pay more for rooms not in good locations. But throw some water in and your own place to eat and it seems to work.

Most Greeks love Americans. Most of them have relatives who live in the United States. You should have no problems at any Greek ports. Being of Greek decent most Greeks do not like other Greeks. I've seen it all my life.

However, they don't care.

 

Our next cruise is in aqua, but we have drink package, gratuities and OBC so it's more of an annoyance than anything else. The cruise after that was just booked last week with friends as a 1A instead of aqua because the aqua upgrade price was rediculous and our experience last week in the MDR was so good, negating the value of Blu.

 

Unless the MDR experience really changes, I think we're no longer booking aqua on Celebrity. We'll spend those extra dollars booking other cruises on more upscale cruise lines.

Try NCL u might be surprised. I've only been on the new ships but it's a different experence. Give it a shot. I was glad I did.

The safe in your cabin is extremely secure. Don't worry!

I experence thief would only take seconds to get in those safes. Not sure if they would want to not knowing what the reward would be. Plus the cameras in the hallways and key codes. But getting in to those safes would not be a problem.

Why do people feel the need to make such a dramatic exit? Hoping to take others with them?

They like to feel there important. There just another customer who is going to try something different, which happens everyday. Sooner or later they will find out there not as important as they thought and life goes on without them.

Based on the drop in quality of the food and service in the main dining room over the last couple of years, the dress code should be the same as a regular restaurant.

1799 for a cold medicine is a total ripoff. It ok to make a profit but they try to make a fool out of you. I know you don't have to buy but why do they try and suck the money out of you like your some kind of jerk.

We will be on Equinox in March for the first time and looking forward to experiencing the lawn. It seems like a unique concept...lounging on the grass with a drink looking out at the sea. Do people not use it? Is there some reason why you don't like it? I'm thinking maybe I have the wrong idea. I have no idea what to expect for the glass show but we do plan attending if it is still going on.

There have been many times where they put up signs that the lawn is at rest. So try to go when it's awake. Really a stupid concept.

I keep trying to convince my neighbors to cruise with NCL and am losing the battle. It is not because of the nickel and diming, but it is their perceived notion that NCL is at the bottom of the barrel as far as cruise ships, along with Carnival. I can tell them till I'm blue in the face what great experiences I've had, but so far they won't budge. NCL is a mass market budget line, line Carnival, and there are many, many cruise customers who don't want to cruise with them because of how they rank on the cruise ladder. If they could move up to the Princess/Royal Caribbean rung on the ladder, with time, I think my neighbors would give them a try.

 

You are correct, just higher prices is not going to change anyone's perceived notions about NCL. It will take a lot of money spent in upgrading the ships and tons of advertising outlining the changes.

I was one of those people who would not sail NCL. I finally did and it was one the best experences we have had on a cruise ship. We really enjoyed the free style and the entertainment was way above any thing we ever saw on the other lines. I could not believe I was that closed minded but you live and learn.

It would be nice if they could build a nice waterfront area, get rid of the stupid lawn. The new waterfront area on NCL was very nice, and do u see any new ships with lawns. One of Celebrity biggest mistakes was the lawn. I don't thing u will see on any ships in the future. Remember this is only my opinion and I sure there are people who enjoy it so don't flame me if you disagree. I will respect your opinion.

Was not on this cruise but I have been on cruises with other couples who could not stand to see other people having fun. They keep asking us to cruise with them but we just got tired of there complaining about every little thing and no longer cruise with them. It's true there are people like this and all u can do is move on. There are some people who are just miserable and find fault in everything.

We are long time Celebrity cruisers & went go the Breakaway to Bermuda in 2013. The only reason we sailed NCL was to be with our extended family of 11; 2kids, 1 teen, 8 adults. We all loved NCL.

I have to agree with many others in their comments.

 

The 2 biggest negatives to us are the MDR food & service, & the overcrowding of the pool area.

 

The MDR food is kind of bad, & the service matches the food. To be fair, we only ate in a MDR twice, the 1st & last nights

 

NCLs specialty dining is very good, & much more reasonably priced than X to excellent, with service to match.

 

Overall service, including room attendants & bar service, is on a par with Celebrity.

 

NCL evening buffet was outstanding.

 

Entertainment, hands down better on NCL, although we have found Celebrity's to be much improved.

 

I can't speak to the balcony size because we had an outside cabin, which was fine except that there was not even a chair to sit on, other than a kind of high footrest that my wife sat on to prepare to get her face on.

 

Strictly a personal choice that most here will not agree with, but I LOVED the casual dress code. If one wishes, one can dress formally on the not so formal nights, & not feel out of place.

 

Bottom line, we would not hesitate to sail NCL again if the price & itinerary were right.

Rich. What did u think of the waterfront area. I think in the future more ships are going to copy this concept. I've seen no line copy the lawn concept.

This problem has been going on for at least 3 years. Celebrity just doesn't care. There has been more then enough time to fix the problems. They simply do not want to spend the money because it needs a complete overhaul. Why else would they not fix the problems. They probably wish everyone use a travel agent and they had no tech problems. They have so much turnover in the long run there getting enough books thru travel agents.

Having only been on NCL getaway and Breakaway I was totally impressed. i also was a Celebrity cruiser been on there ships many times. Celebrity is a good cruise line but when it comes to entertainment they outshine Celebrity by a lot. Also did not think I would enjoy the freestyle. But I did and and it was great and did not miss the formal nights at all. Also being old timers it was nice to be around a younger crowd. Service and food was very good also. Just my opinion and lm sure someone will have a different opinion.

Celebrity employees have been caught steeling before. Not sure if this might be case here.but it has happen before. That is fact.

Guess what, by the time the younger generation has the time and money to cruise frequently, they'll be the older generation.

How true. But Celebrity has to get them now to start cruising and hope they can keep them. There not going to do it with lawns.

They are not marketing there ships to the old timers. They need to stay competive. In the future a lot us won't be around and they need to go after the younger generation. It is what is.

the lawn area is probably one of worst decisions make by Celebrity. I don't think u will see it on any more of there new ships. It has not been copied by any other lines especially in an industry that is competive as they are. Mistakes of that nature usually are not admitted but slowly fade away. someone had a stupid idea and corporate bought it. It's a shame since since the Celebrity experience is a little better then most mass market lines.

ive been reading about website problems for at least 3 years. I also believe they just don't care. There business must be doing good or they would care, I think. For the money they spent on the lawns and no other line has copied them. Just think of the state of the art website they could have built instead of having lawns on a cruise ship. What a waste of space and money.
