  1. I like the thought of doing self disembark (control issues, I guess...) but been a while since I've been on RCI. When people on here talk about SD, they leave at crazy times like 6:30-7:00am. My DH (what does the "D" stand for???) is NOT a morning glory.... so can we kinda meander around the ship and leave later? Our flight isn't until 2:30pm... We are on Oasis from Canaveral.

Thank you everyone - CC peeps are the BEST!

  2. Would love to try a suite. Always book a balcony cabin.

    So ... couple of questions:

    - To get that OBC for the new sale, did you book directly with RC?

    - Before they move you to 'their' idea of an upgrade, do they call you first?

    - If you put in your preferences re upgrade that you'd only switch to a cabin on the same deck, would they call you anyways for something other than that? I'd not like a cabin underneath the MDR etc.

I can only answer your first question - yes, I booked direct with RC over phone, so I just called. Cabin prices didn't change (that happened the first time I called back). I'll keep calling for whatever extra I can save until I make my final payment :)

  3. Thank you for all the suggestions! I also read somewhere (and actually thought this myself) about renting a car/van one way. I can rent a 12 person van (there are 8 of us) from MCO and drop the car off the next morning (with shuttle service to the port) for around $130. And then we will have the van for tooling around Saturday evening :)

  4. We've used the same TA for years. He knows WHERE we want our cabins, checks to make sure they aren't over/under something. He's also come up with some great ways for us to save. One year we each had 2 adults and one teen in each cabin (total of 2 cabins). He called me and said we could book it cheaper to give the teens a promenade cabin across from us and he was right. I don't have to sweat doing this myself. He specializes in cruises and knows the ships. Many/most TA also give you a gift, since they can no longer offer you a discount. It can be anything from an OBC (like ours does) or wine sent to your cabin, dinner at a Specialty restaurant, massage, etc. Ours also ALWAYS has cupcakes waiting in the cabin for me..lol.

CUPCAKES?!?!?:eek: Oh my stars! Who do you use?? LOL I first thought of doing TA, but when I googled local ones, none had any good reviews..... so I opted for calling RCI direct. I did call with the new 30% off, and it lowered my overall bill by $600 but I have ZERO OBC..... :(

  5. classic cocktails would be long island iced tea, margarita, mojito, the cruiser, mai tai and sex on the beach.

martinis & more includes the likes of the carnival cosmo, pomtini, appletini, blue moon and tiramisu

frozen drinks would include kiss on the lips, hurricane wave, mocha chocolate getaway and strawberry, banana, peach, raspberry, mango, lemonade or hurricane daquiris, pina colada and miami vice.

liquors would include the various price points / quality of vodkas, bourbon, gin, scotch, rum, tequila, etc.

You seem quite knowledgeable! My question is if you don't sail until 4:00, can you wait until the next day to purchase your Cheers card? So Sunday to Sunday cruise, do you have to purchase 7 days or 6 days?
