Hi, Did you enter in a special promo code to get the solo rate?  I just did a mock bocking and it shows double pricing, I would be cruising solo.  The $200 OBC showed.

I booked in the summer and even suites and balconies had zero single supplement. it looks like today balconies are gone but oceanview and inside still have zero supplement.

Was this part of the Celebrity Black Friday Sale currently going on that’s about to end Nov 28 or were your discounts on top of those savings?

The reason I ask is because I haven’t seen any differences from the current sale discounts when I did fake bookings on our booked cruises earlier today.

I am not sure. I just called them, stayed on hold on speaker about an hour and asked them if I might get any on board credit and they responded with the price decrease and the OBC. When I did a mock booking, it did not show anything different, probably because my category of sunset verandahs has been sold out. so I was very surprised and happy. I would call and see!

  3. Hello everyone!  You might want to call Celebrity or your T.A.. Depending on what you paid, huge price drops and onboard credit are available today. I am a solo and booked an Edge cruise at the end of Jan 2022 with a no single supplement rate which is already a bargain. Just to see if it might be reduced further because of Black Friday, I called Celebrity today. I have not made final payment yet. They further reduced the fare  another $600 plus gave me $200 OBC. Truly shocking as I am paying less than I would be on an old competitor ship for an inside cabin!  And I am in a sunset verandah with all perks. Honestly I would pay more at a motel than I am paying here!  So PLEASE call today as you may save even more money! Of course I am concerned about the Omicron variant and will monitor things day by day. But this is a huge bargain.

My husband is hooked on their Aspen Coffee which includes Bailey's, Frangelico, and Kahlua.  I am not a coffee drinker, but Bailey's in hot chocolate is a treat for me.  They have lots of alcohol type drinks for you to try!  Enjoy!!

I love the Aspen!! Best drink on the ship!  I pay an extra dollar to get it over what is included in the normal drink package.

  5. Hello. I have reviewed multiple threads but still cannot see the answer. Can someone determine where the sofa versus the bed are in Edge Cabin SV 7315?  In other words is the sofa closest to the balcony?  Many thanks.

    1) Took a vid of the Kate’s announcement; ignore the video unless you want to see a porthole room (lol)

    2) Missed the beginning of the announcement

actually wd love to see  a porthole room as I have not before!  Does it have a balcony and window? Thank you for recording for us. Many prayers that this is your only excitement for the cruise.

I’m on the sailing, Capt said they had symptoms and X initiated contact tracing protocols.

Keep us posted. I go in late January and am using it as a getaway from people...haha.....will be living on my balcony and only eating outside. And when I walk the halls or inside, will wear a mask. May be extreme for some but after 18 months of awful, feeling the sea breeze and communing with nature sounds like heaven!

  8. Hopefully the family is quarantined in their cabin as it could take a few days for them to develop symptoms or test positive if they do at all. I believe CDC says they do not have to be quarantined but if I was a fellow cruiser, it wd make me feel safer. Very sad for them. Breakthrough infections happen and hopefully the guest is doing well. Pls keep us posted.

There are 3 sets of steps into the pool plus 3 sets of steps over the large pool ledge.

I had to navigate that large step as people had pool loungers on the ledge…made it ok but realized I could EASILY have wiped out so won’t do that again!

So plenty of steps but the loungers can make getting to those tricky at times

You are so awesome to reply to me. So there are steps somewhere to get in?  I cannot see it in any pictures. Sometime, could you take a pic and post?  I have had 4 surgeries on my foot after an accident  and I love the pool but am afraid of the ladder. So regular steps would be amazing!!!

Thanks for your kind words. We all hung together, supported and helped one another. The relaxed attitude and camaraderie here at the hotel has almost been like a reunion of old friends!  Still I woke up many times last night reliving the experience of seeing all the slack go out of that winch line as my feet were suddenly lifted off the ship. You KNOW it’s gonna happen but still......Guess some folks would pay for something like that?  More exciting than ANYthing that was on the optional shore excursion list!!!

You are just an amazing person! Your positive attitude is so refreshing!

    My final 2 cents:

    1) Weather conditions along the route (not storm center) appeared to be less then 35knts;  well within  safe limits for the Sky.

    2) The problem should be refered to as a propulsion failure due to all engines being offline. My guess is there were only 3 engines available with one out for routine maintenance (standard situation) It is yet to be determined why the others went offline. I doubt there were simultaneous failures in three, so the control systems would be suspect. Bringing them them back online requires workarounds or solving the initial cause and does not happen in a few minutes.

    3) The fact that the ship was close to the rocks, it was wise to make a Mayday call as there was imminent danger of loss of life.

    4) Lifeboats. The Sky and probably every ship since the Titanic have over capacity on life boats and life rafts. Not being a mariner I suspect the entire crew is trained on using the inflatable life rafts and since many are involved in launching the lifeboats. the life rafts are their primary escape mechanism. If you don't think the life boats were a risk, a ship headed to aid the Sky had to be abandoned with all 9 crew members choosing not to use the boats and going overboard instead.

    5) Helo  Always risky especially at night but if you noticed on the videos once the Sky was under power and properly positioned it was very stable. If this wasn't being managed by one of the best and experienced rescue organizations in the world. the Captain may not have made the decision to continue to evacuate.

The seamanship involved in keeping a powerless vessel from going into the rocks is as good as it gets, can't wait for the movie.

Sailed on the Sky summer of 2017 and  booked for November this year.

The incredible seamanship displayed by the captain is incredible! I agree with you. This will be a movie one day and I hope that Tom Hanks plays the captain!
