  1. Celebrity is now showing the Summit sailing from/to San Juan on all cruises through 12/31, except for the cruise of 11/11, for which they show nothing. This might mean that there are no changes to the 11/11 itinerary..

That is correct. I am on that sailing. They temporarily substituted St Croix for St Thomas but tonight they have added St Thomas back on to our trip so that we will be sailing our original itinerary!

  2. Check this out - just posted on the Celebrity website. This is for the 10/28/17 cruise on the Summit. They have just added St Thomas back in & say it is progressing well.

    September 26, 2017

    Dear Guest,

You recently received an updated itinerary for your upcoming 7-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise on

Celebrity Summit® departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, on October 28. We’ve made further

    changes to your itinerary.

We continue to evaluate the situation in the Caribbean, and while several facilities in San Juan

suffered significant damage, we remain confident that the airport and cruise terminals will be

functional at the time of your sailing, and we continue to work closely with local officials to provide

food, water, and generators to those in need.

Further, due to the success of the recovery efforts in St. Thomas, USVI, we’re happy to announce

that we will be adding a visit to this stunning island back to your sailing. We’ve removed the stop in

St. Croix, USVI from your sailing. For your convenience, we’ve included the revised and newly

updated itineraries for your reference below.

We’ll send you all the details on our updated shore excursion offerings in St. Thomas as soon as

they’re finalized. If you had already booked shore excursions for St. Croix, you’ll automatically

receive a full refund back to the form of payment used to book your excursions.

We know that these changes can be disruptive to your vacation plans and truly appreciate your

understanding as we work to through the effects of these terrible storms.

We’re doing everything we can to support the ongoing relief efforts for all those affected by these

devastating storms. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the people of these incredible

islands, as they work toward a complete recovery. We hope you’re looking forward to visiting these

beautiful destinations just as much as we are.

If you have any questions about your new ports of call, please call us at 1–800–280–3423

  3. We cruise on the Summit Nov 11 and the islands we go to were not hit. They will substitute only one (St Thomas) . When I spoke to Celebrity they plan to keep the Summit cruises out of San Juan. In your case, just wait until 10/28 when the first Summit cruises begin and you will know for sure. Realize the Pan American pier where Celebrity goes out of did not sustain the same damage Carnival's pier did in Old Town San Juan.

  4. Yes, Drake was so helpful to me last year as well. It looks like we will be back in St Croix in November this year and I wanted to reach out to Drake for his advice. And maybe bring him certain supplies that he may be short of. He is so exceptionally kind to everyone on the Boards that I want to return his kindness now that he is in need. I hope that he is OK as I see that his town was hit especially hard.

  5. Yes. I'm also wondering why her story changed. Interesting that she dropped the "bomb" on this and other similar posts, and then disappeared. There are a troubling amount of "blackout" stories, but none attributed to Xanax, or suspected drugging. Xanax typically doesn't make you blackout, right (maybe when combined with alcohol)? And if there is someone spiking food with prescription drugs, it seems odd that they would target random people in groups (referring to other posts on here, not the solo traveler).

I agree that the bad alcohol is a Mexico problem and not unique to NC, which is why I will stick to bottled beer when I'm there in April, just in case. If the Xanax in the guacamole allegation is indeed true, well that is much more concerning. Again, without a follow up from that poster and explanation as to why she has two versions of the story - it's hard to give it much credit.

I so have not disappeared. I have posted on here for years! Am going on a cruise in November as I now do Southern Caribbean cruises because I prefer them. You know, I hesitated posting this in the first place last year when it happened, or now because I am well aware how people like to pick others apart because it is something that many of us do not like to think of ever happening to themself and because you do not know me and have no idea if I am credible or not. So I understand. . Because I am very clear what happened to me, and because I thought I shd say something, I posted. I realize now that some other posters do not believe me, which is their prerogative but sad. I hope it happens to no one else. And for those who wonder how I could recognize Xanax in guac... I was a prosecutor for years as well as a drug court attorney. The shape of the Xanax pills appeared to be the broken end of a xanax bar which is a 2mg. Drugs & Rx drugs are my practice as an atty. And I can tell you that Xanax and alcohol are not a good combo. I will be graphic. There were pieces of white pills in the vomit. Because of what I do for a living, I am familiar with benzodiazepines because they are a drug of abuse. I could have brought back a nasty bag of vomit for the GBI crime lab and paid a fee to have it analyzed. But quite candidly, without proper refrigeration, the gastric juices would continue the decomp but certainly the contents and crime lab analysis of the drug would of course still be there. But I chose to try and have a good rest of my trip as I was absolutely pissed for allowing myself to become a victim. So no I have not disappeared, but I am not on the Cozumel forum. My friends and fellow attorneys and prosecutors were just glad I was OK. And when I continued to read about some of the druggings that occur, not just in mexico, but anywhere, I thought I wd speak up.

  6. is there some way to private message you?

Oh - I just checked and CC does not have private messaging. My name is on my email so I do not want to post that here. Suffice it to say no authorities in Cozumel were notified as it was all I cd do to get back to the ship. I certainly told other people on my ship when I returned but it was not the fault of Celebrity. And I told other professional friends at home when I returned. I have not read about this happening at this day resort before The doc on the ship advised me to see my doctor when I returned which I did. On Trip Advisor you can read about what happened at Playa San Francisco, another day resort. There are also a number of other people who believe they were somehow drugged at Carlos & Charlies, a bar there. I cannot say who did it, but it certainly happened to me. It could happen anywhere but seems to happen with more frequency in the Cancun & Cozumel area....at least people are reporting it more. It was at the beginning of my cruise & I was determined to not let this mess it up. Number one I felt stupid for eating there as I never do that. Number two, it made me feel vulnerable which as an independent strong female, was something I did not want to feel. It certainly has not kept me from cruising but you will see I cruise Southern Caribbean only now and tend not to go to Mexico. And my BF is with me. I wd go back to Cozumel but I wd make it a pool day on ship. Just not worth the risk.

  7. You were Drugged at Nachi Cocom? This is horrifying.

What was the outcome of your case? I'm assuming this was reported to the authorities?

Is there a link to a thread/discussion here on Cruise Critic of your experience when it happened?

Nachi Cocom is such a popular attraction in Cozumel and has been posted about here on Cruise Critic for years..

it seems like this incident/case would be huge news.

Please elaborate on the details of what was done about it... so that we can all be informed..thanks.

    Wow

is there some way to private message you?

  8. Well it appears it is not just bad alcohol, people are also being drugged. It does not happen all the time obviously, I have been to mexico at least 10 times over the years and never had a problem. I have actually traveled the world and never had a problem so this was a big eye-opener for me since I try to pick upscale places to hang out or beautiful beaches with my own water bottle. No one else on my ship that was there (about 15 others) got sick. But they were all couples / families with reservations. Likely because I was alone & it was known when I made the reservation. Very scary for me.

  9. I was in Cozumel at Nachi Cocum March 2016 and I was drugged. I am a middle aged female and had a reservation for just myself but had taken a taxi over with three other people. I had a pina colada & some guac (never even got to the other food) and within 10 minutes it was apparent what had happened. Fortunately I was able to immediately get a taxi back to the ship (Celebrity Constellation) although I was very much struggling. I made myself vomit and pieces of pills were in the guac. I had not eaten anything but a danish earlier, It took about 24 hours before I returned to normal. It was likely Xanax that had been crushed (I say this with confidence as I have knowledge of Rx meds because of my job). Since that time I have found dozens of people who have had similar things occur in Cancun & Cozumel at different day resorts and hotels and bars. My advice is to take your water off the ship with you along with a protein bar or some granola and do not eat off the ship. I was one of the lucky ones.

  13. For the last two years I got on the Summit at 10:30am in San Juan as I flew in really early. Was on the pool deck at 11am with a drink and eating a burger off the grill there. Room was ready at 1PM so I found a lounge chair against the outer wall and had bathing suit on under my clothes so had a lovely two hours in the pool before unpacking. Then grab a cab into old San Juan for at least 4 hours, head to the fort, pick up stuff at CVS in town if necessary and head back about 6PM for muster drill and dinner!
