  1. (I am a UK passport holder) Sadly the prospect of getting off the ship at RedHook always fills me with horror and frankly now like a pal (Ted Scull) I would self-disembark the moment the ship is 'cleared' which is normally by 7am and get down the plank and through Immigration etc PDQ and get the hell out of there. Ted tells me he is off the ship by 7am, and sometimes back home in his Manhattan Apartment before 7.30am. OK, he is a US Passport holder which speeds up the process, but foreign nationals like me get off quick too at this time. This of course makes the end to a wonderful leisurely cruise/Voyage all then pale into insignificance by chugging your own bags off the ship, but since US Border Controls no longer pre-clear the ship on board like they used to in days gone by, then be prepared for ugly delays getting through to the Taxi pick up area outside. Good Luck.
  2. Luxor and the V of The K is a must see, but of course security tensions are riding high, but Cunard know what they are doing. Take hand gel, the paper money is bloody filthy, bottles of water - check the cap is on, a hat, take a pack of hand wipes LOL If you buy cans of Pop then wipe them, or try to get a cup to drink out of or take some plastic ones with you from the ship (if they still have them round the pool bars) You will get hassled galore but just a polite 'La Shukran' (pronounced shook-ran) will be your most used phrase... You do not have to go down in to any of the Tombs with the long tunnels, they are hot and can be very busy. Enjoy it, you may never ever go there again... Luxor and the Nile is spectacular.
  3. Not much to see on a Cape Verde stop TBH, folk go now on TUI package holidays for sun & beach, flop and drop at the big RIU hotels. Personally I would love to see St Helena - >> Budding Tourism but a difficult anchorage but a 'sail by' would be nice. I think Cunard have done visits there in the past. The remote British island hoping to see more visitors Casablanca (or Dakar) would be a nice call too but guess the security situations are mammoth and change all the time, so an ''Operational nightmare'' for Cunard Line as was booked calls at say Istanbul, Haifa and Alexandria in the past. St Helena, a BOT.
  4. Thanks, just spoke to a very nice Lady at Cunard who has just done 2 recent QV and QM2 Voyages and she says everything is getting back to be 'more normal' at last with some Caveats LOL. I feel a bit happier now but still making my mind up... Have you cruised on Cunard yourself lately Hattie?
  5. Yes I am aware cheers, To clarify as I said in my Post - I always like 2nd Dining sitting at 20:30 hours, but I have read that some Passengers get on board and are allocated ''Anytime Dining''. I assume this is due to them booking Saver or Late Fares, but I am booking a Cunard Fare.
  6. Good Morning to you all, I haven't been on here for a few years since the World lost its marbles, so my last Cunard Voyages were in 2019 on QM2 SOU-LPL-NYC via Iceland which was awesome and the Pre-Xmas Canaries on QE, again super awesome. So, back to business and your kind responses please. I'm thinking of some Winter sunshine and a leisurely TA before Xmas and so was looking to book the QM2 from SOU for 19 nights across the Pond to NYC and the Caribbean islands back to NYC and fly home to LHR using my AVIOS. I might stay a night or 2 in the City but Hotel prices in Manhattan now are eye-watering since I checked a week ago! She has a few Inside cabins left, decks 4, 5, and 6. Going Solo it's not too bad £££ for 3 weeks away at just over £3000, BUT I am reading the recent QM2 Reviews of which many are pretty underwhelming and indeed very negative about the food & service in both the Britannia MDR, and the King's Court. I gather the Ship should be fresh from a 'Refit' before this Voyage? However, should I bother >? I read that the CWC Parties are now pretty much Non-existent - Is that so>? I have always had extremely good Food & Service on all of the 3 Cunard Ships in the past since 2008, and when there was an odd hiccup in the MDR, it was dealt with very well. I had got to know many of the Maitre D's over the years, and that was always nice to be recognised and be looked after. I always like the same Table and Second Dining sitting. I do not want ''Anytime free seating Dining'' whatsoever. What's the score now please >? Your thoughts would be most welcome, should I Book it or Rethink..? TIA Roger (Dorset UK)
