  1. Thanks so much for the response! We'd like to take in a Broadway show (Aladdin, Come From Away, Harry Potter, or Hamilton - depending on what we can get and prices!), see Times Square, the Statue of Liberty (was thinking of cruising around the harbor as I hear the lines to get up the statue are long?), and the 9/11 memorial. We only have 1 full day and probably 3/4 a day depending on what time we fly in. We're coming from Toronto so flights are pretty much every hour into Newark. Also, is there anything AROUND the hotel? I've stayed at lovely hotels that were in unfortunately sketchy areas and didn't feel safe leaving the hotel.
  2. Hi there! Planning to fly into Newark for a sailing on Oasis out of Bayonne Oct.16 (cruise leaves Oct 18). Want to spend a couple of days seeing NYC. We booked a placeholder hotel at the Hilton Penn Station in NJ since it has PATH access. We are aware of the closure and we'd have to ferry into the city on Saturday but it's free because of the closure. We're a couple in our 40s with a 10 year old. Is this going to be a huge pain? And is the area safe?
  3. We'll be in Nassau in October off the Oasis of the seas - me, my husband and our 10 year old daughter. We were thinking of walking to Queens Staircase and the Fort and then hanging out on a beach. Just looking for sun and swimming, and a beach with a bathroom where we're not going to pay an arm and a leg for chairs. Is there anything you'd recommend? We don't need to snorkel or swim with dolphins or anything, just something relaxed. Thanks!
  4. Oh I love the resort pass idea! Thank you so much!
  5. We're disembarking off Symphony of the Seas in Miami and our flight is leaving the same day from Fort Lauderdale, but not until 6:15pm. Since we are Canadian we need to be at the airport by 4:15pm at the latest to check in. Last time we did this, we booked the Everglades tour with airport transfer but we don't want to do it again, and we're not interested in the hop on/off sightseeing. I'm at a loss of what to do. We are a family of 3 (me, DH, and DD age 10). I don't want to sit at the airport for 6 hours, but we also will have our luggage with us so not sure what our options are. Any suggestions?
  6. If we have 3 people in a room can we still book with priceline? I'm just worried they won't give us a room if we show up with three people? Or should I just book with hotwire?
  7. We are sailing out of Miami on RC in January, but we are flying into Fort Lauderdale the day before. Would you recommend we stay in Fort Lauderdale or Miami? It is my daughter's 10th birthday so we want a hotel with a nice pool, food options within walking distance, and a "nice" hotel (think Hilton, Intercontinental, DoubleTree, Marriott etc). Also open to boutique hotels. Some friends have said FLL is cheaper, but others have advised to stay in Miami in case there is traffic. We'd leave for the port right after we check out. Any advice?
  8. We are looking for a low key beach in St. Martin - we are a couple looking just to relax, swim and chill. We likely will go for the morning and then go back to the ship for lunch. Any recommendations?
  9. My goodness I haven't been on this board for a while so I apologize! We ended up booking Royal Carribean. We loved Princess when my daughter was little (3 and 4) and the kids club was nice for her. We sailed off peak and she was a bit shy so the fact that there were only a few kids worked well (staff was pretty much 1 to 1 because so few kids). Now she will be 10 and is a huge extrovert so we hope that RC will work for us!
  10. I would LOVE to do a Disney cruise but I'm worried about the overwhelm factor as I think the kids are all together (all age groups?) . Also is the price justified? It's so much more than other lines. As seasoned Princess cruisers, my DH of course wants to sail Princess. I love Princess too, but with a 10 year old, if the kids club is a bust there will be nothing for her to do!
  11. My husband and I used to cruise once or twice a year but we haven't been on a cruise since 2014. Our daughter is now 9, and while we cruised Princess when she was a toddler, I'm not sure it's the right fit anymore given her age. She's very social and while not super active, would need some stimulation. We looked at Disney but I think it's pricey. We're planning a cruise for late January 2020. What are your favorite cruise lines with kids at that age? She'll just have turned 10. We also want something where we can relax as adults too and the other priority for us is good food :) . Thanks!
