  1. Just got home from a wonderful week cruise (8/12-8/19) on the Summit. We sailed with 2 other couples and are all seasoned cruisers( approx. 30)

We ALL loved the service, food and entertainment- and the ship is in very good condition for its age. After reading negative reviews- we were very pleasantly surprised! I certainly can understand why it’s voted #1 in the fleet.

I will do a more complete review once I get settled unpacking, laundry etc.

    Back to reality😓

So good to hear the Summit is still great! Who is the Captain? We are sailing in 2 weeks and so looking forward to Bermuda...Awaiting your review after you settle back. I know it's hard, but...Thanks!!:D

  2. I am, I believe, on your sailing that week, UandMe4Ever, if you are on the Escape. It is unfortunate that the Harbour Nights will have finished up the week before as Charles reports, but some years they have extended it. They really should, big tourist ships will continue to come in through October and it brings tourist dollars to Hamilton. I am keeping my fingers crossed, I would love to see the Gombey Dancers!

Guess we miss the Gombey Dancers this trip! We are not on Escape, but Summit. Well perhaps another time. Thanks! Enjoy your cruise:)

  3. If you upgrade to Go Best, you get unlimited internet included. If you have internet, you can use Facebook or an app like WeChat to text. If you don't want to purchase the internet, I'd suggest looking into purchasing some of those walkie talkies (haven't used them since all our kids got cell phones, and not sure if you can use them on the ship, but that could work).

Good info. I am thinking of bringing my Appe Ipad for use mostly in the cabin for texting, games, facebook, etc. Wondering if its worth the price of the internet package? Our carrier is Verizon, should that matter. Leaving soon and any info anyone can give will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.:)

  4. Info below from the June 30th sailing of Celebrity Equinox. At the end of July, Maarten will be taking some time off before joining Edge and Damian De Lorenzis will be taking over for him as CD. Damian was our CD when we cruised Equinox in 2012 and was great! Whole crew was wonderful and seemed to be extra friendly and in high spirits on the voyage.

Master: Captain Dimitrios Manetas (Kate McCue will be back at the end of August)

    Chief Engineer: Evangelos Salliaris

    Staff Captain: Kyriakos Matragkas

    Guest Relations Manager: Julie Sherrington

    Hotel Director: Niyazi Korkmaz

    Cruise Director: Maarten Breuls

Food and Beverage Director: Vlado Momiroski

    Executive Chef: Alexander Capello

So I guess Captain Kate WILL be on the Summit for our September 2nd sailing. That will be awesome. Thanks!!

  5. How lovely to stumble across this forum. I'm so happy you enjoyed my music. Thank you so much! Please feel free to add me on Instagram @linda_capewell. Hope to see you again on Celebrity soon! :*

Linda, such lovely reviews and I'm sure well deserved! Will you be on the Summit week of September 2, 2018? Thanks. Hope we see you on board.:p

  6. I don't remember the entire menu but there were different varieties of food. For example there was one dish that was small amounts of four or five different Indian foods (tikka masala, vindaloo etc.). Another one that was sliders (i.e. small cheeseburgers). Etc. I thought it was all very good. Even if you don't like certain things, you could find something you liked. Everything was visually presented very creatively too.

Thank you again. Each Restaurant sounds great! We'll decide which (or both) on board.

  7. Dined at Qsine one night of our 6/28 - 7/8 sailing on Summit. Loved it. All dishes are meant to be shared. We ordered 6 dishes for 4 people and it was too much. 5 would have been perfect. At some other tapas/shareable places we have ordered 2 per person but at Qsine they are fairly large. Service was great too.

Thank you, but forgot to ask what kinds of food. We will be 2 people. Thanks again:)

  8. Forgot to mention...there was no BBQ on departure day, but there was every other day. They served burgers, hot dogs, fries.

Thanks for the info. Not that big a fan of hot dogs, etc. Rarely eat them at home. No loss.:) Still trying to find out of they have coffee in the waiting area in Bayonne? on RCI, they have a nice little set up. TIA

  9. We were there the first week of June. This was our fourth time in 5 years. We always have a stateroom on the port side. That being said this was the first time that Summit docked with the starboard side facing KW! We were disappointed.

And yes, NCL was docked right behind Summit.

I hope the Summit does dock starboard side this cruise. NCL will be docked there as well. Thank you!

On another note, looking for some feedback on the specialty restaurants. Don't know which one is better (I'm sure they are all good). We are older and enjoy a relaxing meal. TIA :)

  10. Hi, your info is so good, thank you. Just wondering if Summit does a BBQ the first sea day, and if so, what do they cook? Thanks in advance. Sailing 9/2/18..:D

Hi, totally off topic: Was there another ship docked at KW with you? Which side docked in? We have a starboard side cabin this time and was wondering if we'd see the "dock' area when docked. Thanks again in advance.

  11. Charles well deserves Edge-best maitre’d on sea or land! Charles stands out in our cruise experiences and we look forward to his presence on the Edge.

Hello all! Does anyone know who the Captain will be on the September 2nd sailing on the Summit? Couldn't find answer. Thanks in advance.:)

  12. Tokens are $4.50 each. If you are taking the ferry you need one for each trip, so $9.00 to get to and back from the dock yard. We have done the ferry to St. George and then taken the bus back into Hamilton and then ferry back to the dockyard. Therefore we needed 3 tokens each. You can buy tokens or all day transportation passes in the dockyard. We were just there (again) May 13-20.

    Have a great trip.

Thank you so much. That's what we figured it to be. Much cheaper than $19 p/p for all day pass. Appreciate your quick response. I'm sure Bermuda is just as beautiful as we left it 5 years ago. Feel free to share anything about it if you wish. Safe sails to you always.:)

  13. Hi, Can anyone tell me if the token/ticket for Hamilton or St. Georges' is $4.50 p/p round trip or one way? Thinking of doing one or the other on one of the days. Ferry passes have gotten expensive: $19.00 p/p = $38. for a couple of hours to either place.

We've been there several times, but thought we'd re-visit one or the other again.

Can we get at the new Tourist Station at the Dockyard?

Thanks in advance. Leaving in a few weeks.:)

  14. The only times we have "shared" at a specialty restaurant has been, as described above, with people we have met on the cruise or on our roll call.

By the way, there are many tables for more than two.

Hi, We are sailing on the Summit 9/2. Could you please tell me about the differences between the specialty restaurants? Any favorites and why? Any help is greatly appreciated. Not sure if "Qsine" would suit us. Almost like a tappas restaurant and order by ipad? Thanks again.:)

  15. We did not have any problem finding a deck chair on sea days. A table in the Oceanview was hard to find during peak lunch times. We found it easier to eat lunch a little later and had no issues. Breakfast was pretty easy.

Hi, your info is so good, thank you. Just wondering if Summit does a BBQ the first sea day, and if so, what do they cook? Thanks in advance. Sailing 9/2/18..:D

  16. As I noted in an earlier post, we DID have the above. I was referring to the sorbet and fruit picks missing at the pool. Sorry you misunderstood.

Hi, do they still come around with sorbet and fruit/water at the pool/solarium as well? I'm confused:confused: Thanks.

  17. Harbour Nights is a street festival with local vendors having tables selling mostly art items and some foods like Portuguese donuts. The dancers perform and sometimes the Bermuda Regiment “beats the drums” and parades. The last Harbour Nights of 2018 will be Wednesday August 29.
