  1. LMBO!!:') Maybe he's following your ship!!;p Quit throwing those raisins overboard!!:*

I'm reminded of a bear warning that allegedly was posted somewhere concerning black bears and grizzly bears. The warning said to prevent encounters with bears, a hiker should wear tiny bells, the noise from the bells would scare the bear away. Should this fail, hikers were also advised to carry pepper spray as an attack deterrent.

The posting went on to describe how a hiker could tell which bear's territory he or she might be in by examining the scat. It said that black bear scat would smell like berries and grizzly scat would smell like pepper spray and have tiny bells in it.

  2. On the Zipline you caught up with the others, so you have some control of your speed?

DW wants to do one but is leery about the landing at the end having had back surgery and so on.

To a point, yes. If you try to draw wind resistance, you can slightly reduce your speed. If you try to tuck in, you can speed up. You are sitting in a swinging seat. When you hit the last 200 yards or so, you are already slowing down. Then when you hit the buffers at the end, your seat swings forward and upward reducing the shock of the stop. If you prefer, you can watch the people as they hit the buffers. Then you can decide for yourself.

  3. Hi- I love your reviews! I would highly recommend Tracy's crab shack as the place to go for lunch!

    Tracey:D

We're going to try this again when we go. A note to the wise, do not order the crab cakes as a meal to share with your spouse, you will starve. The crab cake order is limited to 6 half-dollar sized crab cakes. So if you have 3 and your spouse has 3, you will find yourself standing in that long line again.

  4. The only Carnival ship I have been on was the Conquest and the only thing it had that I wish RCI had was the deli. I had the best Rueben and Tuna Melt from that deli and have not found their equal any where else. As for ships, I like RCI Radiance class the best. I wish the Radiance class still had the Seaview Café though. On all CI ships I have been on, passengers can walk up on the bow. On the Conquest, this area was reserved or the crew. The Conquest appeared to me to be a much older ship then Radiance class ships. I prefer the layout of the Radiance class ships over the Conquest.

  5. If this cruise was one that originated in NYC and went to Quebec and returned to NYC, the issue is that a couple of Right Whales were struck and killed in the Gulf of St. Laurence. As a result, the Canadian Coast Guard reduced the speed limit on all shipping, reducing the speed to 10 knots from 24 knots. As a result, some of the cruise lines have had to cancel or change itineraries since they could no longer make it to their respective ports on time.

We had booked a Canadian cruise departing from NYC and returning to NYC on a different cruise line which as to depart on October 18, 2018. I first heard about our cruise being cancelled when a friend of ours could no longer fid the cruise listed on the cruise line's website. When I checked discussions on CC, I found out about the whales and other cancelations. The cruise line contacted my TA four day after I had found out about the cancellation on my own. The itinerary had been changed to a 1-way cruise to Quebec with a few New England stops added to the cruise. This also brought up the price of the cruise. We were given the option to rebook on one of these cruises at the new price and the cruise line would give s $25 OBC if we chose to rebook. We cancelled the cruise and that cruise line as a result. We are now "Loyal to Royal."

  6. This made me think of a funny story. My BIL has always been very mature for his age, but somewhat oblivious. He has owned his own construction company in rural Iowa, since he was 20! When he was 25, he did a “guys cruise” with my DH. Prior to this, he had seen plenty of pictures of us and his parents on cruises. Prior to the trip, My DH has told him- at dinner, shirt and tie for formal night, business casual for the others. They get to Miami the night before, and open up their suitcases. DH sees that there is just one dress shirt, and a bunch of t shirts in his brother’s suitcase. BIL says- but they’re NICE T-shirt’s... he thought nice t-shirts and jeans were business casual :). That night they spent their time scrambling around Miami trying to find the BIL a couple of affordable nicer shirts :). We still like to tease him about this :)

There's nothing wrong with T-shirts as long as they are still mostly white and the holes are no larger than a quarter. ;p

  7. Why is it that men have to wear hats in the MDR for the evening meal? Especially on "formal" nights. Outside of religious or medical reasons it is rude!

It hides all those unsightly scars that run across the top of my head from all of those bar fights I've been in. After a while, I have to start making up lies about how I got them and people won't leave me alone so I can finish my meal in peace.

  8. We had 7600 on Radiance - center hump so we could see forward and aft which was great for our Alaskan views.

As for noise, there was one night where the speakers in the Champagne bar below us were turned up a bit extra loud and made sleeping a bit difficult. But even on the party nights, while we could hear a bit of noise from the Centrum, once the door closed it was pretty quiet.

As long as you don't have speakers in the ceiling on the deck below your cabin, you should be fine.

    Thanks!
