Thank you, Yvonne, for taking us on this awesome ride! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your review and looking at your pictures every day. Good luck on your new job and looking forward to your next review. Best wishes to your dad too.

When we were on the Escape last month, my bathroom had a horrible urine smell. The room attendant tried everything to make it go away but nothing helped. I finally started to leave a towel completely over the vent behind the toilet bowl and it helped immensely. Try it.

Syd's may be great but they only accommodate very few people. What are the rest of the people supposed to do? Their best entertainment is in their smallest venue.

I am so happy to be following along on another of your cruises. My cruise is over and normally would not be on cruise critic until I have another one planned, but I find myself still coming on every day to read about your adventures. Have a wonderful time and safe travels!!

I am all about GSC being first instead of last day of cruise
They changed the hours though. Instead of 10am-6pm the new hours with the change are 6am-2:30pm.

I just came off the Escape last week and found that even though the daily said breakfast was until 9:30, they had one side open longer for breakfast. NCL is really trying to push room service to make a little extra money with their limited buffet hours but who wants to order room service and then have dirty smelly dishes stacked in your room for hours and hours because they also cut room cleaning down to once a day, so your dishes just sit. The lines and wait are ridiculous at O'Sheehans plus the staff is cranky because they are dealing with a bunch of drunks that normally would have grabbed a slice of pizza or hot dog and fries at the buffet but are now forced to sit down and wait a long time for food to be served.
Another big problem we found is there were no bars open after midnight. It was ridiculous. Yes, the drink package was not limited to the number of drinks you could have but you were basically cut off at midnight. Maybe a little longer if you were at a show but as soon as the show was over, the bar closed. I have to say, the cruising experience has really changed with NCL and I'm not liking it much anymore.

I just wanted to update this thread as we recently went on this excursion.
We boarded a 2 level boat, the top was open air and the bottom was air conditioned and sailed to St John's. During the scenic ride, we were given commentary on what we were seeing. When we got to the island groups were separated and we went with our tour guide who was a very nice young man. After signing a document, we walked up a tall staircase and began our hike to Honeymoon Beach. There is a long (felt like more than a mile) walk uphill and then downhill a rocky, uneven pathway. There are times you are precariously stepping up and down on huge rocks, avoiding tree limbs and donkey poop and a few times when there is a smooth walkway. There are trees on both sides of you with nothing to see and it is a good thing because you really cannot take your eyes off the ground or you will trip and fall. At the end of the trail, it opens up to an absolutely gorgeous beach where you will spend about one hour at. We saw sea turtles, a stingray and a fish through the crystal clear water. After, the hour is up, you take the same walk back.
I do not regret taking this excursion but would not do it again. The heat and humidity were intense and jumping in the cool ocean was much needed. Sneakers are a MUST and the walk can be difficult if you are not in shape and or do not have on the right footwear. There were a few lounge chairs scattered and supposedly a bar, food and bathroom a little further down the beach but there really was not enough time to explore them. Everyone just enjoyed the beach.

Yeah! They are screwing their customers by abiding by government regulations. Go figure.
Personally, I like the new itinerary. It is “safe” from the perspective that it does not require most passengers to get any visas or any other documentation. And they tried to pick well known ports.
I wonder what it will actually take for you to not be a NCL cheerleader. I know you get a bunch of perks for being that person but come on, sometimes you just have to admit NCL is not infallible.

The burgers at the American Diner are not good. Don't waste your money.

I read a few reviews of NCL only having decaf coffee so I stocked up on extra regular coffees from a few hotels I have been to lately. I will bring them along because there is nothing like a hot cup of coffee on my balcony, in my pjs, first thing in the morning to get my day started.

Incidentally, my room steward is lovely but obviously over worked, he has only managed to get back to my room twice in the last 4 days and then just straightened the top sheets. I have the same sheets and towels 7 days after boarding but I don't care. I'm sure if I asked him he would change them. I am not complaining I just think other guests should be aware that if this is important to you mustn't be frightened to talk to your room steward.
I'm sorry, to me, this is unacceptable.

Responses will obviously vary person to person. Our response upon finding that the observation lounge was closed for the entirety of a cruise would be something along the lines of muttering "That's a bummer" and then wandering off to enjoy the rest of the cruise.

The new location is a bit further away and on the other side of I95. It's about a half mile walk, about 10 minutes. Very different location and I loved the bar at the old one with the tree as part of it.
You can walk to Perricones if you don't mind walking. You would just take a left once you left the hotel and then a left onto SE 1st. Then a right at the next light onto SE 13th (Coral Way). walk up past the gas station and the Chase (stay on this side of the road) and when you get the fork (circle), vear to the left. You will see Perricones immediately after going under I 95.
I haven't eaten there in a long time so can't say how the food currently is and while my friends have gone, it's no longer where they go for happy hour or food.
Brenda who was one of the bartenders at Perricones actually now bartends at Toscana Divino at Mary Brickell Village.
For similar Italian style food, North Italia is right at Mary Brickell Village and a nicer walk.
Thank you so much for the info!!

Thinking of taking a taxi to Cane Beach for a few hours, has anyone done this? What is the cost of the taxi per person? Are the taxis open air with multiple people in them like they have in St Thomas? How far is the beach from the port? Is it easy to get a taxi back to the port from the beach? Thank you for any info provided!

Boosting this thread to the top to see if anyone has any new info

You are welcome.
Moxies at Mary Brickell village is another great spot for a bite to eat and not a far walk.
We would always walk over to Perricone's for dinner but I know they moved, is the new location much further away? Can we walk or should we Uber? Have you heard if their food is still good, or has it gone downhill which I know has happened to a lot of restaurants post covid.

I have been bringing them on forever. I leave them setting by the coffee pot . I have even brought them to the dining room. Never been an issue. If you empty all 24 in a cup you still wouldn’t have much of a beverage.
I bring them too and have no problem but I have to have sugar free and can't find them anymore. 😖

These room stewards work their derrière off and you’re still complaining? SMDH!!!!!!
Let him/her know what was left behind. I’m betting he’ll take care of it for you!
If you don't complain and keep making excuses for poor service, NCL thinks they can get away with the crap they have been getting away with. Sorry, I want my room clean and my room service at a reasonable time. No excuses, hire more employees NCL!

Not always. I've seen some sailings where this was not an option.
I agree. My Escape cruise did not give an option to pick a cabin, I had to call.
Am I the bad guy?
