I do appreciate everyone's thoughts on this subject. We are going to go ahead with our plans for 2018 to visit. Thanks and happy travels to everyone!

Great review of an interesting area! Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate the thoughts provided. I think we will go and enjoy!

I have wanted to visit St. Petersburg for a while and 2018 seems like it would work for us. We are booked on a Celebrity cruise which features 2 nights in S.P.
With all that is happening with the US & Russia I am thinking this might not be the time to commit. Has anyone else had these thoughts?

Thanks for providing this great information! I have wanted to try Viking Sea as we have done their River cruises. Best wishes on the new baby!

They are both great & you will enjoy RC!

Was on Royal in December & had a good time. Cruising Carnival in 8 days!!!! Will have a great time. Will be interested in comparing them - since they are close together!
You will enjoy yourself if you want to!

I am wondering if anyone knows if the GLORY has the cooking demo?

I agree - talk to the staff about this. We do a 2 top and do Anytime dining. Always have great service!

So excited to see this - I had thought about you and Tracy the other day & wondered if I had missed a review! Welcome back - I am looking forward to reading your B2B adventure - we have never been on NCL - so will be interested in reading your thoughts.

Mudslides are fabulous!

We just returned and I would book a port cabin if I could do it over again. We just took tours of Aruba & Bonaire - bus rides around. We walked around Curacao on our own.

Its obviously tough to ask a simple question here on the Celebrity boards....
-
We were just on Navigator - I think you will enjoy her!

I had a lot of problems with the RC website site yesterday. Not that exact issue - but I couldn't search for any cruises....
-
We were on Navigator in December & I wasn't crazy about any of the entrees in the MDR (very unusual for me). I asked about the availability of an Indian entrée - and the head waiter came and told me he could bring me some. I mentioned that I don't like spinach.
I received the best dinner of the cruise. It was wonderful and I wish they would have Indian entrees on their menu (as Carnival does).

I have heard that those braids are done so tightly that they really hurt....I have never seen any "braids" advertised.

We sail both Royal and Carnival - just back from Royal & go on Carnival in 1 month! I too am looking forward to seeing how they compare- Its usually 6 months or so between cruises.
-
I enjoyed your trip report. Thanks for sharing!

We were recently on NOS and they were pushing the specialty dining packages. Also saw the 10 drinks for $79.

Hi! We were on this cruise also! We enjoyed it but must say there were a lot
of OLDER people on this cruise.... You did a great review and I was happy to
see info on the day I was SEASICK. 2nd sea day was rough - it was windy &
we were going fast..... Glad to know about Sabor & Schnoor bar - we didn't
know this
Thanks again (missed you Gary!)

Great insights - we haven't been on Oasis yet - and haven't been out of Tampa either. I think any 4-5 day cruise might have the demographic where Drinking might be out of hand potentially. longer cruises not during spring break on either line are more relaxing.

The bridge in the Tampa port limits the size ships that can go out of Tampa. The destinations I believe are more limited... eg Key West (which I love) and Cozumel. As I recall they stop sailing out of Tampa sometime in April... and the ship moves. This may not be the case in 2017. We had a very nice 5 day cruise on Brilliance. I love this class ship.Next year Oasis will go out of Port C. I have not sailed out of there for quite a while, but the Oasis Class ship is something to experience. Despite its size it does not feel as large as it is. We prefer an ocean view balcony cabin, but I would love to try one of the inside balcony cabins just to see what it is like. Central park area seems like it would be more quiet than the boardwalk section of the ship.
something to consider. The Radiance class ship... like Brilliance has a lot of ocean views throughout the public parts of the ship. On the Oasis class ships, if an ocean view is important you really are going to be happier with an ocean view cabin, because there are limited ocean views in the public areas. One of the limitations of this class.
I loved departing from Tampa. At the time my husband was recovering from knee surgery and when I pulled up to drop off luggage they had valet service. I am very cheap, but decided to try this. It was a bit more expensive, but when we arrived back in Tampa we had our car very quickly... turns out we could see it from the ship.
Both the Radiance class ship and Oasis class have their pluses. One thing I really liked about sailing out of Tampa, was that on the first night we had dinner at Portofino's... a specialty restaurant... we were one of perhaps six couples in the restaurant...and we ate as the sun went down as we watched the ship slowly sale out of the large Tampa bay. Alas there is no such view in the speciatly restaurants on Oasis

I can't wait to visit Alaska - this was a great debate.
