  1. I am SO LOOKING forward to the free laundry and pressing - for myself I don't like to put my clothing in the dryer - but the pressing itself would be fabulous. For DH both laundry and ironing - AWESOME. NO more of the standing for hour's prior to the cruise to iron everything - only to have it get somewhat wrinkled in transit anyway.

Plus, on the return - no 2 -3 days of washing and ironing to deal with - YES.

Normally, my DH does at least one of the as much as you can stuff in a laundry bag for so many $ special's that HAL run's onboard.

  2. Bought the CCL stock about noon today and by 6 had our 250.00 OBC showing on our account. Also, asked and received an email confirming it to take along with us when we board.

    Count me IMPRESSED!

We did end up doing the fax ourselves as HAL World Cruise Reservations said they are no longer accepting shareholder proof via email for security reason's.

I have NEVER been able to get our home fax system to work correctly - even after upgrading equipment etc.

So we stopped by our local library on our way out for dinner this evening. They faxed it over to HAL for us and after a phone call to World Cruise Reservations to clear up a blank page issue. They were able to find the correct fax page and apply our 250.00 OBC and send the confirmation email.

Our library charged us 2.00 to send the fax. SO worth that fee to not have to spend a few hour's trying to get it to work from our home system :-)

THANK YOU ONCE again for the help and shared experiences from CCer's here on the board.

    :D

  3. Had my DH get the HAL credit card so that we could get some extra OBC. Now that I am reading some of the past threads on this there seems to have been a great many changes in the rewards program and HOW they show up on your account.

Wanted to put a question out there to Ccer's who have redeemed rewards point's in 2015.

What is the most advantageous way to redeem point's?

We don't have enough to go for the cruise discount. So I am thinking that for us maybe the best thing to do is buy the Casino credit and then cash them in - that way we can still use our HAL credit card for the double points. As well as get the extra credit towards our onboard spending applied as addtional cruise days towards our day's sailed added to our tier level. Getting very close to our 4 star level.

Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated - I thought I had it figured out then I noticed many posts saying that there have been changes made to the program since last year.

    THANKS

  4. what the procedure is - must I have him do it. Or, can I do it myself?

We just bought our CCL today and are cruising in November. I have printed the page from our brokerage account showing the completed purchase.

Can I email it to HAL? Or, must I go and fax it from the library?

I see the link to the info on where to fax it to - just wondered IF there might be a place where I can email and not have to go out to fax it to them. I have NEVER been able to get our fax machine to work on our computer or printer for some reason.

THANKing you in advance for your help CCer's

  5. We really liked them. I want to say it cost us about $35-40 for a big van late last year. Call early for the reservation if you're going during the boat show. You'll probably want to make any restaurant reservations early as well.

Did they have a trailer for your luggage? How many of you transferred for that rate?

I did find their number - will be checking with them when we FIND a place to stay for Nov 5, 2016. The boat show already has things booked up. We may have to stay even further out next year.

This year we are going later hoping to use my Hilton points to stay at the Marina. Just waiting on getting the points into my account so I can book it.

  6. I will try calling JR Shuttle and check their rates as it seem's to be jogging my memory now that you posted that name. I think we may have used them a few year's ago from the Hilton. The last couple of year's haven't been able to get into the Hilton as we cruise during the Boat Show.

And, my memory ain't wasn't what it used to be

    Thanks again

  7. We will be staying at the Hilton Marina - will need to transfer with at least six pieces of luggage to the HAL pier. Only two people this year - next year we'll have six of us - so trying to check out alternate to taxi without using the motorcoach shuttle.

Any idea's on cost effective transfer's other than a cab with limited space?

    THANKS

  8. This poped up on HAL site mid July - we live in FL. I hadn't seen the 15 day itin prior then all the sudden it was there - I wondered where it had come from and grabbed it as we wanted another B2B on HAL this year like we had done last year on Eurodam. Plus, some new ports we haven't been to before.

I wish St Felix was still on the itin as I'd like to see where that is?

It was on another of the T.A. sites on evening last week as an 18 day itin departing 22 NOV (when we sail on our 15 day) I tried to find it on HAL and couldn't though. As I'd have extended the 3 days.

  9. Here here! When we flew to Ft Lauderdale this February we told the taxi driver to take us to the Hyatt Pier 66. I didn't think that I would have to give him directions but I should have spelled it out at the onset, my bad. After we were near the Riverside Hotel I realized that we were being "taken for a ride" and complained to him. Needless to say, we're big Uber fans.

My DH and I were just talking about this at lunch this afternoon. Wondering If Uber was a good choice in downtown Ft. Lauderdale - going from the hotel to the ship.

Have you had any recent experience with them in FLL?

  10. That's my observation as well. We've still laid in supplies and whatnot, but we're not planning to leave. I think that the Tampa area will have some issues if there's a lot of rain, but Broward & Miami-Dade are fairly dry this year.

We were laughing. I don't think we watched the Weather Channel this much in years.

I sure hope that this storm frizzles out. The Tampa Bay area hasn't quite gotten rid of all the flooded area's just from the month of Rain we had in July. Fortunately, we didn't have an issue at our home. But, our park is still flooded as are some of the retaining area's around us. Just North of us people are still flooded out. Praying it doesn't come our way either.

  11. all of the advise and help everyone has posted in reply.

I did call to see if there were any Family Suites - all sold out.

Then checked on the PV cat - all sold out.

For now we are just going to stick with the cabin we have and IF the bathroom presents a problem we know that we can plan to use the gym/spa shower's to help lesson the crowding in our cabin.

Thank you for the info on where to get the locker keys and to be sure to check the hours of operation.

    Happy cruising to everyone too

  12. I've been following the following thread and thought this may be of interest. See post #144.

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2248237&page=8

    Good Luck.

What an AWESOME link you provided - I have learned so much reading it over. While I still can't find the Family Oceanview available online. I shows exactly what it is and they only had 3 people in it. Hum maybe it is soldout for our cruise and why I can't get it to show up.

However, the entire thread is a wealth of Information!!!!

I so appreciate that you posted this AWESOME!:p

  13. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I will be calling our TA tomorrow to see if we can get a different cabin. The issue with the sound from the connecting room could be a major problem for them and for us. My brother has a very deep booming voice

And, I certainly don't want to listen to someone being sick!

The links are so helpful - I did check out the PV it looks great - but almost a grand more for our sailing. OUCH - can't justify that.

I think we'll look at moving down to deck 3 or deck 2 - try to find a cabin on the Deck plan that looks like it might be oversized. I haven't been able to find out anything about the family suites regarding pricing on them.

Or, how many people you must have in one to not get bumped out.

    That is a thought too

Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for ALL OF THE ADVISE - I love Cruise Critic!

  14. We are 3 adults cruising on Vision of the Sea's April 2016.

Looking for information on oversized cabins on this ship. It appears from the deck plan that 4500 may indeed be oversized with a Pullman for the 3rd person.

Wondering IF anyone has been in this cabin? Or, if anyone has suggestions for a better cabin for 3 adult's. Balconies are to expensive for our current budget.

From what I'm reading RCCL still allows us to use the shower's in the spa area correct? Hoping that will help with the shower/time issue.

Would appreciate any pictures or actual size dimensions of the oversized cabins ? We went with an oceanview rather than an inside feeling that may give us the illusion of more room. And, thought that going with a pullman as opposed to sofa bed would not only be more comfortable - also that it would give us more floor room.

Thank you for any and all advise.

  15. The spa showers are huge so sometimes one of us will go there to get ready instead of fighting for the cabin bathroom. And of course there are numerous toilets all over the ship.

My brother and I are taking his adult daughter on a cruise for her college graduation. We have booked cabin 4500 on the Vision of the Sea's - hoping it might be a bit oversized.

I thought I remembered from past RCCL cruise's that you could shower in the spa area. Can you shed more light on that for us - as I actually thought that the bathroom would be our biggest hurdle to deal with.

    THANK YOU

  16. for your help and insight - I have tried the google search, you Tube and Deck Plan Genuis.

Without finding anything on cabin 4500 Deck 4. One of them did say it was oversized at 151 sq ft. Which is even smaller than what the RCCL site showed at 154 sq. ft. Which made me think that they were pretty much just copying what the RCCL site had - that they didn't have any particular's on those cabins.

I will now check cruise liner website as I don't think I have run across them in my search.

Maybe I should have posted this thread differently and asked if anyone had been in cabin 4500. I did figure out that 4500 appear's to be a connecting room. Which may mean that there is no loveseat in it. We really wanted a love seat. I am also wondering IF it's much louder with a connecting door between the cabin's. Figured we could stuff a bath towel at the bottom of the door

We are going to have 3 people in our cabin. So was trying to find something that slept 3 adults and some extra room. Originally this was a gal trip for my niece's graduation. Her father (my brother) decided to come along after we had booked. Trying to keep the rate from getting out of hand for it too. As this will be my third cruise next year - the other two being extended sailings. Figuring we won't be in the cabin that often.

I know on some of the ships you are able to go to the spa/gym sometimes to use the shower's there - if all 3 of us were trying to get ready at the same time. Any idea IF that is available on Vision of the Sea's?

What other ship would be closest to Vision of the Sea's - in checking sister ships? Being it appear's that Vision of the Sea's had a pretty big retro fit when dry docked in 2013.

I appreciate any and all help from our wonderful group of RCCL cruiser's here.
