  1. It appear's to me we are better off taking our own wine and paying the corkage with our OBC. As then we'll most likely do better than 40.00 to 45.00 per bottle with our 25% discount and then add the 18% service charge that the wine packages offer.

We do have to lug it with us this way - which isn't that big a deal as we drive to port and over pack anyway :o

    Thanks again

  2. ok, say we decide to bring our own wine onboard and pay the corkage. It appear's to me that with our 25% discount for being 3 star on the Navigator and Wine packages may still make it a high price per bottle.

As compared to buying our own and paying the 18.00 corkage fee.

However, we have a good amount of OBC this cruise. Can you tell me is the corkage fee applied to your onboard account so that we could use our OBC to pay for it???

  3. Ok, we are traveling next month. I called Barclay and they could only offer me the 50.00 beverage card that is supposed to include alcoholic drinks. And, 100.00 shore excursion credit.

They had no OBC credit available she said - I asked IF we didn't use the 100.00 shore excursion credit would it be treated as OBC credit she said NO YOU WILL LOOSE it IF you DON'T use it for shore excursion's.

Will be interesting to see how that show's up once we are onboard.

I decided not to use all of our points this cruise. But, to test the water's and see HOW it works. Save the rest of the points for our next cruise.

Has anyone else used the shore excursion credit?

Also, wondering IF there is a way to differentiate the Beverage cards as we had also ordered one of the Value Beverage cards through HAL indulgences - the 25.00 that is worth 50.00 for soda's.

Hope there is a distinction between the two cards. Wouldn't want to waste the one we can use for alcoholic drinks on soda's

  4. I bet your heart was pumping a bit faster - like my DH's - he just reminded me that three of his 4 hands in the split I mentioned were double downs too!

AMAZING that you were able to get that picture and KEEP it NICE

You know that is what makes a cruise for my DH. I have a feeling it may be up their in your list of enjoyable reason's to cruise too.

  5. Not rude at all - how does one know these things without asking !

I play exclusively at tables where the minimum is between $25 and $100 per hand - often playing two hands at once. Thus I'm probably "investing" (oftentimes "donating" is a better word) somewhere in the range of $100 (base bet) to $200+ per deal. When things are going well, it's sweet. When things aren't, well... it's not sweet !

    Tom

for sharing your experience. My DH is in the same range then - he will start out with a base bet then increase it depending on how the cards are coming out. Very often he will split - last cruise out he was playing 4 hands on a split and it just happened to be when he had a very large bet out. Thankfully he won 2 lost one and broke even on the 4th. He will talk about that round for years to come ;) He doesn't play two hands often but does on occasion. If there is room at the table. He loves it when it's just he and the dealer as can happen late night. However, ALWAYS plays basic BlackJack rules and splits and doubles down ALWAYS when appropriate. He is the risk taker in the family - I don't have the courage to do what he does LOL. He always tips the dealer's when he wins. And, doesn't drink while playing. Maybe he's just to quiet.

  6. invasive - may I ask at what level you would say that a BlackJack player must play per hour in a cruise ship casino to get those types of offer's. My Dh plays a few hundred dollars a day when we cruise. Yet we have yet to recieve offer's even though the pit boss has asked him if he wanted to be rated. Of course, his answer has always been Yes Please.

Just looking for advise - no intention of being rude.

    Thanks

  7. No internet upgrade yet on the Eurodam.

their drydock - they will most likely upgrade their internet while in drydock in December then. Thought being they were using the app that it might have been done already.

Was the ship in good condition - we cruised on the Eurodam last November for the Collector's Cruise. Doing it again over Thanksgiving into December this year. Hoping it's as wonderful as last year - we found out after booking she was going into drydock after our cruise ends.

  8. I understand the "cruise withdrawal" thing. I'm feeling it too, vicariously, as I almost feel I went along on this cruise with you. Thanks so much!:D

I could feel the sadness begin as you wrote about pulling out the luggage - THANK YOU for taking the time to share your journey with us here on CC.

What an incredible young man you are - I can tell from your writing and the pictures you take that you truly ENJOY seeing the world and telling about it.

    THANKS once again!

  9. I just got off the Eurodam. There is a free app to use on your phone or tablet while on the ship. You log in ( does not use Internet minutes) and you can see your personalized schedule and view your account. It is from that app that you can sign on to the paid Internet. The app was great.

new WIFI with the faster speed and lower priced internet packages available on the Eurodam as well? Thinking if they had the app capability that you mentioned that they may have done the tech upgrade on the Eurodam already.

    HOPE SO

  10. we did have a block on our account being we were booked on a cruise.

The gal told me she would put a standing order NOT to block any of our promo's etc

However, said it's a good idea to call in and make sure it's holding in the computer system. From what she said the computer may still take it out.

    THANKS for the advise

  11. No go for us even though it's listed on the sale for the 15 day Eurodam Nov 22, 2015. Our cruise and date for the 15 days is on the list too. Prices are still the same as we paid very HIGH haven't seen them come down since final payment either - but they said something about us already having 450.00 OBC between FCC and TA OBC (we didn't get the Explore 4 either) - WHAT does that have to do with it??? Once you've made final payment they have you is my impression of it all.

I know our TA spent about an hour trying to get someone to give it to us. SO I will just enjoy our cruise and not bother with it anymore. Just seems odd that some can get it and some can't - happy for the people who were able to take advantage of it.

    ENJOY

  12. one of the reason's I chose the date was to not have to cook a turkey at home ;)

We very often order the turkey and dressing as it's normally offered at least once per cruise. Granted you don't get a drum stick - yet the meal is usually quite good.

I agree with other ccer's here it was very kind of you to ask about our tradition of Thanksgiving. And, I agree no do's or don'ts just enjoy your yourself.

We are staying on for an addtional 8 days - total of 15 days on the Collector's Cruise.

Being the Eurodam is going into drydock just days after our cruise I doubt there will be any holiday decoration's.

Looking forward to sailing with you.

  13. We did not get off the ship on turn around day in Ft. Lauderdale.

We spoke with two other couples that did and they each brought another 2 bottles (one per person) back on when they returned to the ship. They had gotten off the ship and did some errands and picked up some things they wanted for the 2nd week. More wine :-)

Both couples walked back on the ship with more wine.

We tried to do it in Key West and were not allowed to - they took us from us and delivered it on the last night of our 2nd week.

Now it wasn't on turn around day so more likely that we would get caught.

    good luck

We to are doing another Collector's cruise on the Eurodam over Thanksgiving this year. So please post back as to what you are able to do after your cruise.

BTW we had only 1 booking number last year and again this year.

  14. Kakalina for sharing your experience with us.

We just this past few months FINALLY got the HAL Credit Card. Should have done this year's ago.

We have tried for year's to get rated in the casino. We are member's of Ocean Player's club - just requested and had sent a statement showing his play. It still reads zero even after last year when the casino host expressly said he was rating him. My DH plays every night and some day's when we cruise. That is something he truly enjoy's about cruising.

I thought this way we could at least get Some points :-)

Have you used the pre purchased chips you can buy on the website too?

Or, did you use this work around for cash to use in the casino?

  15. I was just on the HAL website and noticed that you are able to buy casino chips in 10.00 increments.

    Which made me think -

    1. Is there any additional surcharge to buy these??? - they are listed under the Collector's Gifts on HAL

    2. We don't get credit towards our Mariner points for dollars spent at the BlackJack tables in the casino now? So we wouldn't be loosing those points.

    3. If we put this on our HAL charge card and buy them to have them available to use onboard - do we get the double points with out a surcharge on the HAL credit card?

    4. Then we also don't have to carry as much cash onboard with us - hum

Have any of the casino table player's ever done this?

Would appreciate your input - THANKS
