  1. With changes in laws for 2016, the revenue sources (casino, photo gallery, shops, etc.) that used to stay open until about 8:30 and the actual arrival into the bay now have to close between 5 and 5:30 when the ship gets into US waters and not in international waters. Leaving, it wouldn't make a lot of since to open since the ship arrives in international waters after midnight. In about 2007 rules had been changed to allow the casino and shops to open after the ship past the Annapolis Bay Bridge, about two hours into the cruise. Unfortunately that changed last year.

  2. Any recently done cruisers on grandeur remember if they had Zumba and how was activities staff dance bands etc. I've heard good reviews for ship staff and food hopefully they will have dance and exercise opportunities. Anyone know when and if aerialists show will continue, we're going in January '17 on 12 nights can't wait.

    Thanks cheers i

They had Zumba on the Thanksgiving cruise. My guess is that it will be there if the lady that led it is still part of the cruise staff and hasn't gone on vacation.

  3. For those of you recently on Grandeur- if your room had a fridge could you tell me if the fridge was empty and you had a card to fill out to order sodas etc. if you wanted them?

Have heard this is the case on some ships now and hoping it is the same on Grandeur.

    Thanks.

Just got off the Thanksgiving cruise. There were 2 1-liter bottles of water in the refrigerator. Otherwise it was empty with forms to order what you wanted anything.

  4. Op is correct. I had a cabana and was told by the suite concierge to wait untill 10 to try and get off the ship to miss the rush. Mind you tendering was scheduled to start ansndt 9:30 so 10 would have been in the middle of the rush. No priority tender tickets, or tender tickets of any kind. Concierge came over early to talk with island concierge so was not on ship to help with lines.

Also, even though my reservation mentioned i am vegiterian the only option, other than desert, at the upgraded buffet was apples, bananas, and potato salad. Manager in charge of buffet went to one of the normal buffet to get a Vegiburger. This could have been on location, but not cooked, until asked for.

  5. We've known Tanya since she was on Rhapsody in 2014 and we just spent 38 wonderful days on board Brilliance with her and she is awesome. They don't call her Tornado Tanya for nothing. :D She has more energy than the Energizer Bunny.

She also has a gorgeous voice. She sang 2 songs at the top tier party on Serenade November 2015 to standing ovations. Looking forward to seeing her again, this time on Grandeur.

  6. Thought I'd post an update in case it helps anyone else.

My mom and I arrived about 9:30. Luggage was being collected for the new cruise. People who could use the escalator were free to go up and, I assume, check in. Given my mom and I needed to use the elevator we waited until about 10:15. They didn't have anyone to check passports for people using the elevator until that time. We went upstairs, checked in. Since pictures were taken upon boarding and not at check in my mom was seated while I did the check in procedures. We boarded with wheelchair assist about 10:45. Wheelchair took her to the outside enclosed portion of the windjammer. We enjoyed the location enough that we stayed there when the windjammer opened at 11:15.

Departure we met port side of deck 5. Procedure was smooth and wheelchair took her out to the taxi.

    Great trip with georgous weather.

  7. Thank you. She gets around the ship without a problem but we are getting a wheelchair to be safe.

If I could, what time is early for this port? Baltimore starts check in at 9:30, Fort Lauderdale 10. They both had places to sit after check in while waiting to board. In Miami and San Juan they don't seem to start check in until the ship is ready to board between 10:30 and 11.

  8. My mom and I are frequent cruisers, especially on Royal Caribbean, We usually sail out of Baltimore (about 70 times on 4 different lines). This will be our first time in 11 years sailing out of Boston.

We are on the October 9 Serenade of the Seas cruise. My mom has difficulty walking and standing. We'll be getting to Boston Friday to do some sightseeing. What would be the best time to get to the port to maximize time on the ship, minimize standing and walking, and to make getting a wheelchair assist? We are high tier crown and anchor members, if that makes a difference.

    Thanks for any help.

  9. I know a lot of suite guests have been looking for Genie info on this board so here's my experience so far. We sail on September 25th and I received my Genie email today and contacted him through Voom. We are in suite 1722 and our Genie will be Alexander. I actually was emailed by Reyno but he will be going on vacation next week. I sent him all of our dining reservation requests, show requests, and a spa reservation and bridge and engine room tour request. He said he will take care of everything before we board. I also asked for an 11:00am boarding time and that was confirmed. He answered right back to me on everything. I am so excited about how prompt and accommodating he was. I hope the actual cruise is just as nice.

I'm not surprised. Met Reyno first in 2007 on Radiance when he worked in guest services then again in 2010 as concierge on Enchantment. He's fantastic.
