  1. The common pre-bottled "wine coolers" in the US are not made with wine. They actually are made from a malt liquor (beer) and therefore do not technically qualify as "wine". Something like a pre-bottled Sangria might pass.

You could make your own on board with a red wine and lemon-lime soda.

  2. hope i can ask this here we are doing our first NCL cruise in two weeks and our kids are not huge soda drinkers and I am wondering if Milk, juice and/or lemonade are free or is there a package to purchase these items.

    tia

Milk, lemonade, iced tea, what they call "juice" and flavored water are at no extra charge. Juices are mostly limited to breakfast serving times.

  3. Not common, but I can report on our last cruise on NCL last November out of Tampa, one of our friends had his luggage checked without him being there. They took what they did not like and left him a note in his bag. The clothes were tossed back in haphazardly. He was not happy.

This is the first time that I have heard of them opening luggage without the passenger being present.

  4. Thanks

Yes I have been there before. I was wondering if the ship is going to "Dock" at the new private island or anchor off it like all ships currently do in Belize. If if docks I guess they would have tenders going to the mainland

no details yet, but my guess would be that there would be transportation to the mainland, but it would be an optional "excursion" at an extra cost. The original development plan by another company had a bridge being built, but I don't think that will happen.

the CC article on this shows the cruise ship docked and mentions excursions to the mainland:

  5. If you order a bottle, and don't finish it, you can ask them to "Tag" it. They will cork it, mark it with your name and cabin number, and store it for you.

Best thing about this: You can have the bottle brought to you in any restaurant the next night, and on until you finish it. Just show your slip of paper, and they'll retrieve it from wherever it was stored.

Makes it a lot more cost effective to order a bottle over by the glass, particularly if you want only one glass or so a night.

Bottles of wine are not covered under the UBP, but offer an alternative to that package.

  6. When tendering, NCL will hand out tender tickets that morning. There will be notices in the daily newsletter and announcements that morning. Only one person in your party needs to go to get tickets for all.

When the tendering starts, there will be announcements of the range of ticket numbers being called.

Passengers stand in line to board the tenders...sometimes the lines are long. I have never seen the actual tickets checked while in line to board the tenders.

If tendering is moving smoothly and the trip is not long, it goes quite quickly. After the early morning rush, the ticket numbers are not used.

You can check the port status at Coxen hole online to see what ships are scheduled. If only your ship, no tendering. If more than one, you won't know in advance. check this out as an example for 2014:

  7. Ok, just to clarify, ANY bottle of wine incurs a corkage fee? Even if the fee is more than the cost of the bottle? $4.99 bottle of Barefoot?

    That is correct.

consider that if you could buy a $5 bottle of wine onboard, they would charge you about $24 plus 15% gratuity for that bottle of el-cheapo. Check out their price of Berringer White Zin at $28 + 15% = $32.20 for a bottle available in Miami for 4.99 and here in TN for 6.99.

  8. Ask your room steward on Day 1 for child sized life jacket(s), they will get what you need. But, you will not want to use these for the pool or GSC, they are much too bulky. When are daughter was little we brought blow up floaties on board for her which did the trick. I hope you have a great time!

I would not recommend a child being in the pool or ocean unless they can swim well without flotation devices, unless you are holding them.

Many knowledgeable "experts" feel that floaties are not safe at all.

If one must provide a safety device for children, please consider a real Coast Guard approved life vest. These are designed to keep their heads out of water.

  9. I checked Trip Advisor, and there is not much there yet.

You might want to keep an eye on the US State Department comments on Honduras as your trip gets closer:

When we talked with an excursion provider in Roatan, they said that they never went to mainland Honduras because of the crime. If they needed better services than they could get on Roatan island, they went to Belize instead. Hope things are more controlled in the new port.

  10. In my opinion, there is not any room at all in regular inside cabins for a scooter. There is hardly enough room for two people and a wastebasket. Do get a handicap-accessible cabin...that is what they are for. Please don't discover that there is not enough room in a regular cabin and decide to park the scooter in the hallway.

  11. its NCL's system, so they get to block whatever they want. I would think that Dropbox would be one of those sites, since large files are one of the selling points of Dropbox vs emailing them. Same with Google Drive and similar cloud file storage sites. No way of knowing in advance unless a recent cruiser chimes in with their experience.
