  1. Is lemonade or juice included in the soda package. Medically I can not have carbonated drinks or caffine but I don't want to spend a 100 dollars for juice for the week so I'm hoping it's included in the package.

Lemonade or juice, when available, is available to anyone. Not part of the soda package.

here is the description of the adult package:

    Unlimited Fountain Soda

Includes: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mt. Dew, Ginger Ale, Tonic water, Club Soda.

The entire cruise must be purchased. Non-Refundable.

Prepaid @ $6.25 per person per day x Cruise days plus 15% gratuity

    and applicable taxes

Souvenir Thermal mug included in the purchase of the program

  2. It seems to me that the "service charge" model that NCL and several other lines have adopted is not for you, and you may be happier with a different choice.

First off, I don't find the term, "discretionary" in the NCL literature.

It is a daily service charge that funds an employee incentive program...not a classic "tip pool". The incentive rewards go to those employees who earn them through excellent performance, reviews and passenger comment cards, not just split up per some pre-determined formula to all.

    From the NCL website:

    What's the service charge?

Why is there a service charge?

The reason there's a fixed service charge is an important one: Our Crew (as are the crew from other lines) is encouraged to work together as a team. Staff members including restaurant staff, stateroom stewards and behind-the-scenes support staff are compensated by a combination of salary and incentive programs that your service charge supports.

    How much is the charge?

Onboard Service Charges are additional. A charge of $12 per person per day will automatically be added to your onboard account.

Are service charges across the board for all guests?

All guests 3 years or older.

How do I prepay my service charges?

Contact your travel professional and request that it be added to your cruise reservation. If you have not made final payment this will be included in your final payment amount or if final payment has already been made we will require full payment at the time it is added.

At what point in the booking process can the prepaid charges be added?

They can be added at anytime up to 24 hours prior to sailing.

Why would I prepay my service charges?

The convenience of pre-paying the service charges allows you to plan your budget prior to your cruise giving you additional freedom while on board.

If I cancel my cruise are the service charges refundable?

Yes! The service charges are 100% refundable.

If there is a service issue can the service charges be adjusted on board?

Guest satisfaction is the highest priority at Norwegian Cruise Line. We have structured a guest satisfaction program designed to handle any concerns about service or on-board product quickly and efficiently. However, in the event a service issue should arise during your cruise please let our on-board guest services desk staff know right away, so that we can address these in a timely manner. It is our goal to reach a satisfactory solution to any issue when it happens and make sure our guests can focus on enjoying their cruise. Should your concerns not be met with satisfaction you can adjust the charges.

You may also not like the "auto gratuity" of 15% for anything coming from the bar. You need to also be aware that bar servers and bar tenders work on a "draw against commission" whereby they get paid, but must meet a monthly minimum of sales and 'gratuity' to keep their jobs...they do earn in excess of their draw if their numbers are positive.

Most of us just add the quoted cruise fare, taxes and port fees and the daily service charge to determine our basic cost to cruise today...one needs to do that on other lines when comparing prices.

  3. They still do the bar set up. Now, you get that by calling the reservation desk vs the group event coordinator. 48 hours seems too tight....do it at least two weeks in advance. They don't have a price list to send to you....just ask for what you want and if they have it, they will give you a price over the phone.

  4. The official word is "no"...from the NCL website FAQs:

    What can't I bring onboard?

Passenger is not allowed to bring on board the vessel any intoxicating liquors, or beverages, firearms, weapons of any kind, ammunition, explosive substances or any goods of a dangerous nature, nor animals of any kind, except service or guide animals, provided the passenger notifies Carrier prior to the cruise of his intention to bring such animal and agrees to take sole responsibility for any expense, damage, injuries or losses associated with or caused by such animal.

  5. Great work on this post.

A suggestion: To use the draggable deck plans correctly, after dragging one on top of another, line them up correctly by matching the elevators.

If you click and hold the deck plan that is on top, it becomes almost transparent and you can "see" what is below more clearly.

On the Epic, I dragged the deck 8 plan on top of deck 9 and I could see the balcony differences very easily.

  6. so..what time share are you going to buy to get this??

I have not heard of such a good promo...and certainly not from NCL.

There must be more info on that card that good give you a clue. Assuming that there is a phone number on the card, I would do an Internet search on that number to see what comes up in the results....may give you a clue.

  7. Our experience dates back a few years, but what we found was "sometimes" the cookies were free and other times they would not give them to you, saying that those were reserved for paying guests...they would be free, but you had to buy a specialty (espresso-based) coffee.

The cookies and most of the same pastries are available in the buffet for free.

  8. Using MS Word software, use the Labels function (Tools / Evelopes and Labels). Create a "new" document using this function and manually copy and paste the desired image into each cell of the table. If you use name tag label paper, the package will have a number that can be input into the Labels function to set up the correct layout.

AFter the image is inserted, you can type in the variable text that you want. It is easiest to start the text below the image on the label...it is possible to get the text to align even and to the right of the image, but that is an advance technique beyond the scope of this post.

Here is an image file that you might want to use.

  9. Bonine and non-drowsy Dramamine are the same drug (Meclizine).

Most NCL ships have these available at the reception desk, but best in my opinion to take one Bonine in the morning before boarding and daily at least for a couple of days onboard. If they don't give you side effects, I would just keep taking them, even the last day.
