  1. Hi All!

When I leased my car I received a travel package coupon for a 5 day / 4 night cruise. Amongst the cruise lines is NCL. It is for two in an inside cabin, and I can upgrade at a cost to other categories.

    Does anyone know:

If I use this coupon, will I still get Latitude points for the sailing?

Will I still get all the Platinum Member perks?

Can I use my Cruise Next certificate somehow?

Additionally, does anyone know how many specialty meals are in the offer for a 5 day sailing?

All help will be appreciated. Thanks!

  2. I know they bring snacks to your room in the afternoon. Do they have snacks out in the lounge or on the courtyard? I thought I read that there are some items out there during the day, but can't remember if it's in the lounge or some other spot. What sort of things are out there? We tend to like more savory snacks like nuts, or cheese and crackers over candy/cookies. Is any of that available?

Daily there is orange juice and coffee and pastries in the morning and coffee and cookies in the afternoon. Ask your Butler for savory snacks, and you will have them as extras in the afternoons. Cheese and crackers are part of the regular deliveries, and some savory hor d'oeuvres.

  3. Hi, for those who have seen land based Cirque shows before. I have seen nine Cirque productions and really enjoy them, but wondering how a ship theatre can compare with a land base. Basically, is it worth it to do the Cirque dinner show on the Epic?

I've seen a few (3 or 4) Cirque Shows in my day. The Epic version is Cirque-lite, but still a very pleasant way to spend some time and have a very good meal.

The space is only two stories, and the area where the show takes place is relatively small - but it is well used. In addition, there is fun / frivolous audience participation in a sort of mock-mime show.

It was fun, is all I can say, and the steak was perfectly done and part of a lovely meal.

  4. Thanks for reply. I don't think she would want to miss a pyjama party.

That's fair. My kids loved the Kids Club.

What are the quality of the standard seats like in the cirque?

I had premium, and there is another thread on this exact topic running right now. Most people are recommending the Premium seats.

Could I book then cancel and get my money back if I change my mind?

I believe that is correct. Better to check with your PCC or agent.

  5. Yes, I should have added that to my post. I got the clamshell so I had some shade when I wanted it. But if you are looking to just ensure you get a lounger, you will not need the clamshell. Especially on the Sky, there will be more than enough chairs for you.

Ya, sorry, I didn't mention that either. I am a redhead, and I am always looking for shade. When we visited there on the Sky, there was no trouble finding loungers... but I still appreciated the sun cover component of the clamshell.

  6. Realistically what's the earliest boarding time for Haven guests?

I was onboard at 10:42 on March 8th.

The shows vary, and some nights there are two performances. I can check the dailies if you like to confirm showtimes.

Our steaks (and the meals overall) were excellent. I love steak and our were prepared perfectly, and served piping hot.

  7. Just off the Epic.

The last night of the cruise the Kids Club has a pajama party. My kids had fun, but it was not essential to be there.

I have to disagree with the assessment of the meal at the Cirque Show (at least at our showing). There were 44 of us and we all remarked on the quality of the steak, and how we all got our meals piping hot too.

  8. Some Havens are crowded because of the number of cabins having access vs. the space.

On the Gem, there are really very few cabins using a small, but delightful, Courtyard area. On the Breakaway style ships, there are a huge number of people using a mid-sized Courtyard/Haven area. The Epic seems to have a sweet spot of having a really large Courtyard/Haven, and no where near as many accessing it as the Breakaway style ships.

As for policing, they know who is to be there and who isn't very quickly. They are very aware that unpaid for / unauthorized access is a big issue to those who paid (and through the nose) for it.

  9. I was in the Gem Haven one trip when one family of four "reserved" all TEN of the lounge chairs and then headed off to breakfast or wherever. This lasted about one minute once the Concierge passed by.

I know this is not analogous, but it was pretty hilarious to see the family return to find the towels rolled up and the chairs available to anyone who wanted them.

  10. -Will there be a young spring break type crowd?

-Is there a difference between the two main dining rooms? Do the menus change?

-Any recommendations for breakfast and lunch?

-What kind of entertainment can I expect on a shorter cruise?

    -Is there a comedy show?

-What kind of live music is there on the Epic?

Alright, I am also going on the Epic in March, and this is what I have gleaned:

    1. There will probably be a March Break crowd, it is March Break time.

    2. I understand that the menus are pretty much the same in the main dining rooms.

    3. I like taking breakfast back to my room from the buffet and lunch has many options.

    4. I believe that the shows on the seven day cruise and three day cruises are the same.

    5. There is lots of live music on the Epic. There is apparently an amazing Beatles show and I'm not sure about the rest, but no NCL cruise I've ever been on didn't have a variety of music options.

    I hope this helps.

  11.

Your friends can come to your cabin in the Haven - but they will not be permitted in the Courtyard, Epic Club or POSH as your "guest".

And without meaning to be rude or disagreeable, they should not have access to any of those things or have any expectation of enjoying any of the Haven amenities/facilities. People pay a LOT to stay in the Haven and they pay for that experience. It is not fair to those who paid to have others just turn up and expect to have the same perks at no cost.

It will be awkward having friends on board sailing in a different category, but it is what it is - paying Haven guests get exclusive access to the Haven perks.
