I think you are right Uktog. Having very recently booked 3 Azamara cruises, initially I was disappointed to hear that this double upgrade offer didn't apply to the UK and I nearly queried it with the excellent UK office because it seemed unfair. However from the print screens I took you will see that, allowing for exchange rates, the price for a balcony is almost exactly the same in the two markets and as Bonnie mentioned the suites are cheaper as they are included in the UK 30% discount sale.

  2. What's your next port after embarkation, and are you scheduled to arrive at that port the day after you leave Barbados ?

For me, I would be very nervous indeed about flying in same day when there's such a distance involved. However, one place I would consider it if I absolutely had to, would be the Caribbean because of the proximity of most ports.

For example, when departing Florida for the Caribbean there are often two (sometimes three) sea days after departure. In that case, although it would be possible to fly to the first port it would mean missing those first few days of the cruise.

But in this instance if your next port is very close to Barbados with a decent air link and early flights the next day, it may be worth the risk. (I'm not recommending it though!). Of course, this would only work if the next day flights had seats available.

The first port when we did this cruise in March was Mayreau which was a caviar in the surf port. Not sure what the air link would be like but we flew in the day before.

  3. We did this cruise in March and we loved it so much, we are considering booking again in 2019. We did 14 days Barbados/Barbados which was great for flying in from the UK, but there was also the option of St Maarten/St Maarten or a 7 day option. At most of the ports we were able to walk to the beach and swim in the warm water. Our favourite was probably Iles des Saintes where we walked uphill (in the heat!) to Napoleon's Fort and then went to the beach which was gorgeous with goats and chickens wandering along! We also loved Bequia where we walked along a new boardwalk to Princess Margaret Beach. Anguilla was a beautiful beach too and we walked straight off the tender into the warm water. Also loved Jost van Dyke where there was a small shuttle to the beach although it proved to be our only wet day. During the fortnight we had 2 great Seabourn barbecues on the beach, the first at Mayreau and the second at Carambala Beach. We liked the smaller ports and prefer to do excursions at the larger ones such as St Lucia, St Kitts and St Maarten. We were particularly looking for a relaxing cruise this time and it was certainly that, spending part of the day walking and swimming and spending the afternoons relaxing on board. Loved it!

  4. The only time there is ever "advance booking" is if you are doing a back to back; these passengers are allowed to book the day before the next cruise starts. That being said, there were many of us doing back to back on that three day cruise and the one prior. Those large groups did not get to book in advance.

One night the main run of tables all along one side in Prime C was reserved for a group and Aqualina was closed to other guests for another group, 'private function'. I'm surprised they could reserve all those tables when they boarded.

  5. No there is no advanced booking for anyone.

Also a correction the later reservation times start at 8.00 not 8.30. Generally Prime C books up ahead of Aqualina.

I think on the recent 3 day cruise there must have been advanced booking allowed for the guests who were in the large groups.

  6. We were one of the first to board and the speciality restaurants were already quite booked up so I think some people must have been able to book in advance although we didn't think there was any way to do this? There were quite a few groups on board and Aqualina was closed for one of the groups one night and in Prime C many tables were already reserved for the groups. I am not sure how these groups were able to book in advance. We were still able to book a table though but we spoke to others who boarded later and they were unable to get a booking in either restaurant which was a shame as they were new to Azamara and we were telling them how good they were! It was only a 3 night cruise so not much availability. On our second cruise it was easy to book tables.

  7. Utkog,

Can you verify where or not the 48 cancellation rule is being enforced for rebooking? I have a tour booked for our first port.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

I hope not as we booked one for our second port after being reassured by the phone call we received from the Land Discoveries Department yesterday.

  8. We had a very helpful call from Azamara today asking if we would like to book any excursions for our cruise in June and explaining that it was now possible to book in advance with a credit card and once on board to cancel and rebook with on board credit. I told him that we read this yesterday on Cruise Critic which is great news. What we didn't know is that the 48 hour cancellation rule does not apply to these excursions and he assured me that we could also cancel and rebook with OBC tours booked on the first and second days of our cruise. As the opposite is stated on this thread, I double checked this with him and he confirmed this is right. More good news so we are now able to book these tours in advance for the first 48 hours of our cruise.

  9. All the best to Richard Twynam and his team who provide sterling service to Azamara supporters in Britain. The superb work, pleasant manner and ease of access of all staff are well appreciated, and hopefully recognised as a great asset by Miami and Mr. P .[/quote

We agree! They are a great team.

  10. Dear ExitedofHarpenden, I did ask Richard if you were at the tea yesterday but he said no. I have been reading your interesting and informative posts for many years. Hopefully will meet you on a cruise sometime. Best wishes,

    Pam

Phil - we also asked Richard if you were coming yesterday and were hoping to see you there.

  11. Other thing is, and I don't know if this is new or not but got the impression it might be, if you are b2b any residual internet minutes either package, LCV or suite are carried over to the next cruise.

When we were back to back in June, we were able to carry over our unused minutes from the first cruise to the second cruise.
