If you are wanting to buy a flower lei, double check the FAQ on the Carnival site (if you want to take it on board), I understood it to read, any fresh flowers must be delivered to the ship from a recognized/reputable florist..?

I was hoping to surprise my Mom with one before we cruise, but I’m not going to bother now, unless you are able to find confirmation that we ARE able to purchase and wear it aboard.

Oh, I hadn't thought about that!! We are sailing on Princess, and I just checked the FAQs and couldn't find anything regarding bringing fresh flowers on board. I'll ask on the Princess thread if anyone's been successful about doing it.

  2. We will also be on a cruise, leaving Honolulu at 11 PM. Very interested in this thread, as we too have an excursion planned for the morning-early afternoon, and will do a bit of city sightseeing (along with Waikiki beach) after our tour.

    I haven't read any thoughts/advice on nightlife in Honolulu.....anyone??

  3. We are doing this cruise at the end of February. Friends of ours are concerned with the multiple sea days, but we WELCOME them! Port intensive cruises seem to go by SO fast, and we always seem so BUSY! So, hopefully, this cruise will not pass by as fast. We are not much for trivia games, bingo, etc., but the lei making class sounds great! Also, maybe some lectures. I always bring my Kindle and my husband has his Sudoku. MUTS is a great option too. Princess has a lot going on for their passengers.

  4. I also agree with the Adagio lounge! We went there twice on our last cruise on the Ruby (first time was right before dinner at Share, and can't remember what time we were there the second time) and both times, I think we were the only people there. Very quiet and romantic!! The outside area of Share/Adagio was empty also and as I recall, there is a nice fountain too.

You usually have to pay in the DR.

Sometimes they don't charge but I would be prepared to pay.

If not its a nice surprise.

We took our bottle to the MDR on formal night, knowing that we would be charged the $15 corkage. Our waiter seemed almost apologetic that he had to charge us.

  6. We were on the Ruby Nov 3-10. I can't help with the original question about interior staterooms, but our mini suite had nice, wall mounted flat screens. We indeed got the ungraded On Demand TV system about 1/2 way through our week cruise. Lots of choices of movies, but the TV shows typically had only 4 episodes of each (altho there were a ton of TV shows!).

We will be on the Emerald next Feb., and I have inquired here on CC if the TVs are wall mounted. Sadly, I was told they still have the old ones on the upper shelf.

Oh, and FYI, since the TVs on the Ruby are now on the wall, you have an additional 2 electrical outlets where the old TVs were!

I love the change.   Previously, early was too early, and 8 pm was too late.

Something between 7 and 7:30 pm is perfect for us.

    Hope this change sticks.

We agree with you Mary! We like to watch sail-away, and then have a drink or two before dinner. Very tough to do with a 6pm- ish dinner time, especially when I need to start getting ready around 4:30. I was pleasantly surprised when I read times had changed and switched our next 3 cruises to the 7:15 TD, rather than the Anytime Dining (a whole other beast, by reading comments on THAT).  We typically do not go to the shows, so don't have to worry about that.

  8. We will be taking 4 bottles with us on our next cruise- 2 free to have in our stateroom, and 2 to take to dinner. We will gladly pay the corkage fee of $15. It is a deal compared to restaurants near us that are charging $25 per bottle!!

  9. Wow, this thread scared me! We are Princess newbies (1 cruise under our belt, with traditional dining). We have a cruise coming up next month and we opted for anytime dining, since TD @ 5:30 is a BIT too early for us. Yes, I know we can go have a drink and wait the 30-45-60 minutes for a table for 2, but we typically do this BEFORE we head to the dining room. But, thankfully, I checked and the 7:15 TD option is open, so we switched from AD to TD at 7:15. A bit later than we would like, but a heck of a lot better than 8-8:30, or whatever Princess had before.
