  1. Thanks for all the info everyone. I recalled last time I was in Europe there is a stand alone Sunday ticket subscription for the EU market and was debating buying that for the trip, but a VPN seems like a much better route. Hopefully the Packers have a prime time game (or a bye week for that matter)because I have absolutely no qualms about being awake at 3 am for the trade off that it would be much more likely found on a TV somewhere.

    Ah! A fellow Packer Fan!!

I just realized today that the Summit cruise we just booked last week for late January means we are cruising for the Super bowl.

Cruising with 3 sisters and husbands and all Packer Fans. Maybe that means fate will put them in the game since we will be gone.

Although for Super Bowl the ship usually puts on a good party.

  2. We usually get a " post thank you "offer of onboard credit for next cruise in an email after we get back home. $150 per cabin. Would booking a future cruise while onboard be a better deal than waiting for the post offer when we get home?

    Laura

I have learned a lesson to book another cruise while on board that you MAY take or you could transfer for something unplanned. All 4 of us couples booked New Zealand-Australia 2020 which we plan on doing and 2 booked the Mediterranean for next year. So now we’ve found the 12 night Summit out of San Juan next January and All decided to do that and they could transfer their booking and the $200 OBC Since booking on board (Aqua)was including $200 OBC

  3. It will show unavailable if you try to book for one night. It is a two night minimum

It must depend on what day of the week for the 2 night minimum. Just yesterday booked Sheraton Old San Juan using SPG starpoints for one night Jan.28,2019. It is a Monday night.

  4. We were on Reflection in 4 Sky Suites in February. Drink service was slow in Michael’s for us also. We thought servers just weren’t “with it”. We ended up going to other areas for before dinner drinks. Not once did anyone remember what we drank. As to the concierges-my sister and I asked/requested 3 times about a bridge tour and never heard back from them about it. We had talked it up to our husbands as they forked up the huge amount for the Suites. (Sisters had already done bridge tour 2 years ago while in a suite n Reflection). If the tour couldn’t be done for some reason that’s fine we would understand but we had no communication at all.

  5. Yikes! This onion soup/MDR issue is disconcerting. Hope they have this fixed by the time we sail on the Reflection in October. I think I'll write corporate a snail mail letter asking them to look into it and correct it. My experience with corporate is that they really don't want to slip and want to keep their customers happy.

We found out once when we went to initially complain about some late loud music and wound up spending 2 hours the next day talking to the second in command of guest services about other perceived slippages in the product and service, and giving suggestions, that they were not only extremely receptive, but actually wound up giving us a generous future cruise credit that we didn't even ask for. I told them that I just wanted the cruise line I loved to stay as good as it was and not become another Carnival.

One of the things we learned during that meeting is that the staff on board has quite a bit of latitude to change activities, programs, volume of music and such if they think the clientele want it. So, "innovations" may be particular to certain ships at certain times, like the spontaneous late night loud music party on the pool deck above our balcony cabin that led to our original complaint. Maybe the chefs on the Eclipse are doing too much innovating and need to be reeled back by corporate?

Last month on Reflection I was happy to have French onion soup in the MDR and Luminae and it was perfect and absolutely wonderful!

  6. The ABCs are on our schedule down the road so it's always good to get info on them. Other than this issue, how did you like them?

On the ABC cruise when in Bonaire try Bonaire Cruisers it’s golf cart rentals. Independent excursion that you have to book ahead and early as they sell out. We all thought it was the best part of the cruise. You have to be able to walk 4 or 5 blocks from pier to their location. IMG_4691.thumb.JPG.59cb65bac908ee656aac428a305ca063.JPG

  7. My wife and I sail in either Aqua or Suit class and eat mostly in the specialty restaurants even though we are assigned to the Blu or Luminae. We enjoy the excellent service. We learned that if you leave a tip on the bill it is shared by the specialty restaurant staff. You can reward the individual staff by cash which they get to keep. We always leave a tip on the bill and extra cash for the individual that made our evening special. We book the 10 dinner packages early and watch for special which reduces the cost to between $20 and $25 per person per meal. Everyone has a different opinion on tipping (no right or wrong) but we are from a culture that tips for exceptional service and leave a combined total of between $30 and $50. We tip the maitre'd and sommelier at the end of the cruise depending on the service since they are not part of the shared tips.

Onboard Reflection now in a Sky Suite. The first night ten of us booked Murano for 50% discount or 2 for 1 which ever you want to call it. Our waiter Jorge specifically said not to add extra tip onto slip as he would not get it. We tipped in cash.

  8. I'd like to thank you for your live review because i had just booked 2156 on an upcoming August sailing in the hopes the problem was solved.

Using your information i just ask my TA to move my room off of the hump in the hopes that only the hump cabins or those exactly at midship are suffering from these vibration issues.

If by chance you bump into anyone staying in the skyuites ahead or behind you off of the hump please ask them if they feel the vibrations too.

Checked with sisters down the line 2157 2155 and they report no vibration. And Of course they are all odd numbers.

  9. We were in 2156 this past May and in my cabin review i mentioned the severe vibration we experienced.

It was felt the most on the bed and on the toilet seat and while my wife did her makeup in front of the mirror.

Sorry to hear the problem wasn't solved yet.

Yes thank you, I read that review and was hoping that it had changed but it has not. We still sleep ok.

  10. Does your Alcove swivel so that you can face out to either the lawn or the water? This was rumored to be one of the dock improvements. Thanks and enjoy your cruise!

Sad to say it WAS only a rumor. Nothing changed. Not even new cushions. The lawn looks exceptional and maybe was replaced recently. The only amenities we received have been a fruit and cheese plate. And bottled water. If anyone is expecting more for the exorbitant price they are charging be prepared to fight for it. (I think website says you get more stuff) Going in I realized what we would get which is the same as in the past. We all share the Alcove and the cost so for us it works out.

  11. Sincere thanks for your reassurance that Michael’s isn’t too busy early evening! We will continue to follow your post. Have a great cruise!

Chic night, tonight, and Michael's was busy 6 o'clock ish but still seating available

Luminae dinner was good but service seems slow. I'm still waiting to have my first dessert and coffee at the same time.

The show tonight the group that does the Beatles was very good and glad we went. We're not big show people. We did 11 nights on Equinox southern Caribbean and never went to a show.

  12. Our rooms are on 12 on the hump right around the corner from the elevators. Above us are lounge chairs and ping pong table at n the area Have to see how that goes! Quiet so far but surprised by the amount of vibration. Bed vibrated pretty good and I didn't even have to put in a quarter! Lol. We have 4 rooms in a row and all report good so far. Butler is Alex and taking good care of us.

  13. We are big alcove fans but would like to know if the volume is on for the large TV? many times we are in the Alcove reading etc..Wondering if this could become a distraction? Let us know how it is used throughout the week if you could. Wish they had upgraded the alcoves..but still look welcoming

No volume on tv at this time. 11:40 local. Mast Grill just opened-burgers are rated excellent! They are really thick. Sister #2 had no breakfast so has a double burger. 80f646d304bbead631bb704fefa69c3d.jpg

  14. Following your reports with interest....We are on the Reflection in March. We are regular suite cruises on Celebrity but have never cruised on Reflection before.

Can you let us know how busy Michael’s is pre and post dinner? We enjoy it lively but do need seats!

We usually eat early so we were in Michael's at 6 and it wasn't at all busy. Plenty of room at that time for us. I do find that drink service is a little slow sometimes so have to allow more time to actually get the drink. We have more or less a reservation in Luminae at 6:15 tonight as it's chic night and they've said they have numerous tables of 8, which we are. 5176f7c04afa7fbd4bd600ee57a19f56.jpg

  15. A wonderful embarkation day. Arrived at port around 10:30. Waited in security line for a bit and then right up to the suite counter to check in. Just as we finished they announced boarding was starting. We went to Michael's and then Luminae for lunch. Rooms were ready when we finished and all our luggage was waiting for us. How can we ever sail without a Sky Suite?!!

The space is amazing-so much storage space. Drawers and closets. I could have packed that 4th suitcase. (Southwest-they're free). We're 4 sisters with husbands traveling in a row of Suites so we had the steward open the balcony dividers and it's like one large porch.

Dinner tonight was in Murano for which we got a 50% discount when we booked this afternoon. It was lovely but took a loooong time at just short of 3 hours. Called it an early night to watch some of the Olympics. IMG_4465.thumb.JPG.903ca582c490aa86b41b6e19a8a8c886.JPG

  16. Celebrity is trying to appeal to a younger demo and succeeding in my opinion. I’ve travelled with them since my 30’s and never felt out of place.

Perhaps a better way to think of it, X is targeting the executive suite. You won’t find many laborers, contractors, retail clerks or hairdressers on board. Most of the guests are what I call Audi Upscale.

A couple "over the road" cross country truck drivers boarding Reflection tomorrow for 11 nights . We drive a Peterbilt .

  17. Ordered 3 weeks ago and have not seen them. I guess I will print mine out. Going to get a full sized sheet of self adhesive label material and print them on that. That way they are similar to the real thing and I can stick them on luggage handles.;)

I called Captains Club number on Saturday and had my tags in today's mail! Yippie we're going on a cruise!!

  18. The Evening Chic nights were the second night and the 10th night.

The Porch was open on embarkation day 12:30 PM to 2 PM and 6PM to 10PM

Sea days- Noon to 3 PM and 6PM to 10PM

    Port days- Noon - 3PM and 6PM to 10PM

Thanks for the info! That means we can have lunch at The Porch port days when Luminae is not open.
