  1. You are correct that Amsterdam Manor is no longer renting to cruisers. They are now renting at their other resort MVC, which is just a few doors up. You can get there by bus or taxi. Just tell them to drop you off at the beach at MVC. They have a restaurant across the street called Tulip. I have heard that they plan to add a bar on the beach but I don't know if that has happened yet. The beach in that area is wide and gorgeous.

Thank you! I will plan to do just that! How do I figure out what bus to take? Is it clear once you go to the bus terminal? I am assuming they speak English? (sorry if that is a dumb question!)

  2. Eagle Beach is gorgeous! Was just there a few weeks ago. I would still recommend you try and get there. :)

Were you there on a cruise or staying on Aruba? Did you take the bus or taxi, and where did you have them drop you off? Where were the chair rentals? So glad to hear from someone who has been recently! Sorry to bombard you with questions!!

  3. Just read Arubalisa saying that Amsterdam Manor is no longer renting to cruise passengers...oh dear! Should we look into Palm Beach, and what are some suggestions for there that would make for a relaxing and enjoyable beach day? How to get there, where to ask to be let out, chair rentals, beach bars???

  4. We will be spending the day in Aruba on our cruise in February, and am interested in spending the day lounging on the beach at Eagle Beach. Is the best way to do this take a taxi/bus to Amsterdam Manor? Is this a public beach area that will allow us to rent chairs and have a drink or two from a beach bar? I see the bus is fairly easy and inexpensive, but how much would a taxi cost to this area from the port?

  5. We have stayed here twice, Country Inn & Suites, (staying again in May) and they have an excellent system. I believe the 1st shuttle out is usually around 10:30 am. You do sign up at check in but a lot of people will be checking in late also. If you can't get the early shuttle, you can always take a cab for a few bucks. Just be sure not to sign up, so the spaces can be given to someone else and they won't wait for you to go. I am assuming you are staying here for the park and cruise, so spending a little for a cab still saves a lot of money over parking at the port. They give you the return vouchers at check in so if you don't use them to get there, you'll have access for the way back. Coming back, we just call the driver (# is on the voucher) and have never waited more than 10 minutes. They tell you exactly where to stand and wait for the shuttle back to the hotel.

Thank you so much for letting me know your experience. That is just what I was looking for!

  6. I'd love to hear how this shuttle has worked for others. We will not be arriving until the evening and my understanding is that we can't sign up for a shuttle time until check in. I am interested in a 11:00ish shuttle time, but am concerned those earlier times may be all taken by the time we arrive.

Am also curious how the shuttle has worked following the cruise. How do you arrange to be picked up? I would rather not have to wait around too much since we'll have such a long trip ahead of us and we'll be anxious to get on the road.

    Thanks for any advice!

  7. I am hoping to get a room on Hotwire for the Sheraton Old San Juan for later this year 2 nights pre-cruise. I had it down, that it was 3 star, with the non-beach amenities and tennis nearby, but now I don't see that unless I am putting in 2 adults and 2 kids (only will be 2 adults). Has anyone had this as well? I def want to stay in Old San Juan. Would there be a problem when I got there and asked for a king bed, when the reservation says there are 4 people?
