  1. We booked a private tour for 2 couples with Levi a full year in advance. Later on several other people from our ship also booked and suddenly (2 months before our visit) Levi did not have enough guides for our private tour. In other words, although we were the first to book, we were bumped for a larger, more profitable group. In fact, 5 other groups.

Fortunately, we were able to book with Beno. We had a wonderful time with him and would not hesitate to recommend his company.

  2. Thanks, we will consider this one. My wife and I did the segway tour in Nassau in 07 and loved it. Though learning and riding the Segway was the fun part. The tour was only so-so. I would look forward to this again if there is some good sites and info. Riding on the beach sounds like fun. BTW, my wife and I were both 75-100 lbs heavier in this pic.:D

That's a great photo - love the tree behind you.

  3. So, does C753 on the Grand, have lounger chairs too, or just a table w/ 2 chairs. It would be nice to lay outside on the balcony for a little snooze....

Also, It is on the end, but is the divider between that room and the one next to it, completely private or is it somewhat sheer, as well as only goes up partially to the ceiling. seemed like it was at a curve....hard to tell with some of the pics i have seen, but looked like i could see through. And what exactly is the "private hallway??" okay well thanks!1:o

DH tells me that we had one lounge and one regular chair. Can't remember if the divider went all the way to the ceiling but it was definitely very private. When you reach the end of the main hallway there is a little branch to the left at the end with only your room on it. It is a great cabin!

I would tell you why it was so special to us but I don't want everyone requesting it. :)

  4. I have seen warnings on the internet about what can go wrong with permanent makeup, but so far any firsthand reports have been positive. The lady who would be doing mine has several years experience at a reputable spa.

    I have 2 main concerns:

1 - What happens when my skin sags further? (Thinking more of the eyebrows than the eyeliner with this one)

2 - Allergies to the inks used can develop any time, even years later, so testing for allergies at the time means nothing. Removing the ink would be difficult and expensive.

I have even heard that the ink can shift under the skin.

Sure, these things may be unlikely but they can happen to anyone.

Thanks to everyone for helping me along with my decision. I really want them badly but am scared!

  5. No way. And BTW we've been on 3 cruises since that one in April and it still ranks as one of the best we've ever been on. Seriously considering the Grand again in December 2010 on a 14 collection. I hope Tim Donovan is the CD again!

    Cheers!

We always think of you when the shot you took of us on our aft balcony appears on the digital frame. It was so funny how DH said that he wished he had one and 5 min later you called out "Hey Burm" from below and snapped the photo. :D

What a great CC group we had!

  6. We just got off the Star (2-2-10 Antarctic Cruise) from D735, with a Beam. This cabin should identical to those on the Grand and the Golden, and maybe the Crown, Emerald, Caribbean and Ruby.

Hi Charles. Have you forgiven the couple who beat you out on the aft cabin on the Grand last year yet? :D

When I booked our 2010 cruise on the Regatta I wanted the aft cabin but was told it would cost me $800 more so decided not to snag it. Yesterday I was told that it was given to someone as a cheap upgrade from an inside. :(

  7. I work with a lady who recently confided she had permanent eyeliner and eyebrows done some years ago. It looks very nice and not obvious or overdone. Honestly, I would not have known the difference from everyday makeup, except it always looks precise, whereas my own may smudge. So, in my opinion, it may be an option for some women.

Thank you, it is nice to hear some positive comments. I am now considering having just the upper eyelid done with a thin charcoal line. Just a minor enhancement.

Eyebrows would be great if they turned out well but if they made a mistake or did them too dark....

Colette, I just knew who would be the best person to ask for Fashion and Beauty advice. :D

  8. Wow, burm, you had to go back a long way to resurrect this thread!

I still think a full lip would look better than a lip line. As long as it fades at the same rate, at least you wouldn't have that horrid lip line look. I never have cared for lip line a different color than lipstick, you still see it occasionally: brown lip line, beige lipstick.

Three years later, no thanks to tatoos anywhere.

A CC friend referred me to this thread when I asked if she knew anyone who had permanent makeup done. I had not thought of looking to CC for advice on this topic!

I would never have a permanent lip liner done. You would be condemned to using lipstick every waking hour of your life. That would really defeat the purpose of permanent makeup.

In fact, I don't think I would even want the full lips done. It is easier to achieve a natural look with the eyes than with the mouth.

A little line around the eyes would give back what nature has taken away over the years. :p When I put on a little eyeliner, at least 10 years drop immediately off my face.

  9. I had my eyeliner tattooed, very fine line, black, on my upper eyelids. Just over the natural eyelashes. Very permanent, very subtle, and I love it. I'm 60 years old.

Yes, it hurt! But I can shed tears without looking like a raccoon.

Ah, exactly how much did it hurt?

  10. Actually, a full lip sounds better than just a lip line, if it's done in a neutral color. I wouldn't want to spend my life with just one lip color, though.

You can still use lipstick (or eye liner) over the permanent makeup.

I am considering getting a natural looking "daytime boast" for my eyes. Evenings and more formal wear always require a bolder look which you can easily add.

After you have the procedure done the colours will look a lot darker than they will look a week later once healing has taken place.

  11. Just curious if anyone has ever booked a hotel at a higher price and then gotten the same hotel at a lower price through priceline. I booked the Sheraton OSJ through expedia for 2/17/10-2/21/10, just for

We booked La Quinta, Ft Lauderdale this year (using a code passed on by CC'ers) then got the same hotel less than half price through Priceline. Once I spread the word on CC, several from our group ended up there.

We have already booked a great deal for next year thru Priceline.

  12. I am not fit and do not have great balance. I'm 64 and overweight. But I caught on quickly and had a ball. So glad we decided to do it. Give it a try. You won't regret it. Kadesh and Juliette are the best.

Thanks. If you can do it, I can too!

  13. I ditto your review of this tour. They are awesome people. It was just my husband and myself with Kedesh, Patrick and Juliette. I lost my glasses while on the tour and they have been very helpful in trying to find them. Great people.

Hopefully you can check out our video http://www.segwayantigua.com/downloads/2009-06-25-TheStovers_0001.wmv

Thanks for sharing your video. It looks like fun.

How fit do you have to be? Does it require great balance?

  14. Hi Burm,

I am pretty sure that this is the Sofitel Miami, although it is now showing $110 on Hotwire.

Thanks. Do you know anything about it?

I tried to book my flight with air miles today but don't like the options they are giving me. I guess I will have to hold off on booking the hotel until I have a flight. :( It feels so good once you get everything in place.

  15. Does anyone which Miami airport hotel this would be?

Hotwire $105 for one night March 8, 2010

4-star hotel in Miami Intl Airport MIA

7 listed amenities include Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, HiSpeed internet access, and tennis nearby.

Seems like a good price for a 4 star and it includes airport shuttle. I would just need a taxi to miami port.

  16. That is why you must try UBD! :)

We managed to see quite a few Sunsets in spite of keeping our seating, keeping the seating surprised me since I figured I'd be out later touring but in the end I was always exhausted and ready to end the day around 4-5pm and that left plenty of time to make it to my table. The service was incredible, for 28 days it was impeccable! You don't leave a table like that easily for a Sunset!

Better yet, bring your camera and use it in the dining room to take sunset pics! In Alaska, we always wear our Binoculars to dinner--heaven forbid we should miss a whale--even Formal nights! Its pretty funny with my giant Nikon, black dress, and heels!

    Amelia

We did try the UBD on the Grand this year and enjoyed it very much even though service was a bit chaotic that night. They made a mistake on our drink order (which they more than compensated for) but the photographer did not show up until our dinner was done. There were other little blips too but they were always made with big smiles and enthusiastic apologies. When the food arrived it was impressively hot and very good.

We have never been fortunate enough to get a dining room table with ocean (and sunset) view. The only time we got a table by the window was on the Constellation last year - and they put decorative covers over the windows every night. :(

For formal nights you might want to consider a classic black camera/binocular strap possibly with a bit of pasted on glitter. :p

  17. What is a muster drill?

A muster drill (also sometimes referred to as a lifeboat drill or a boat drill) is an exercise conducted by the crew of a ship prior to embarking on a voyage. The purpose of a muster drill is to prepare passengers for safe evacuation in the event an emergency occurs while on board the ship. Passengers are educated on the use of life vests and escape routes from the ship. It is typically conducted approximately 30 minutes prior to the ship's scheduled departure time.

  18. Burm, you rock THANKS!!! Heck it's only a short 14 months away!!! Donna

Jo Jo, the C753 room steward, will take great care of you. If you leave your nightgown lying around it will be displayed like this when you return to your cabin at night. :p You will notice beside the nightie the breakfast order form along with your chocolates.

Keep in mind that although they only list cold items on the breakfast order form you can write in bacon and eggs, french toast, etc and you will get it! (I was so grateful to someone else on CC for telling me that)

You have so much to look forward to!
