Good morning....just wondering....people say if a guest does not show for the cruise (wife died 2 days before ;( .....that this guest is entitled to the port taxes and fees being returned. Has anyone had this happen...if so....do they automatically credit the credit card that was used or do they have to fill out a form, etc....thanks for any help.
Yes. My daughter and her boyfriend who was to go with us, broke up before the cruise. So he was a "no show" and a few days into the cruise I received a letter in the cabin stating his port fees/taxes were being refunded to the card that they were charged on, and it was done automatically.

I see the "Free Unlimited Open Bar" advertised on NCL cruises. Could someone please explain exactly what this is and how does it work? Something about it sounds too good to be true. I have only sailed NCL on my first 2 cruises back in 1998, 2000. Ever since then we have sailed with Carnival, but have thought about branching out again and trying other lines. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the verification. That is what I told them. They are on their way from Little Rock to Dallas right now and we are headed to Galveston today to board the Freedom tomorrow. He had time to go back and get it, if needed, but just wanted to make sure I read correctly! Thanks!

My son forgot his drivers license, but he has his passport. He will not need his DL to board will he? All I can find that is required is "government issued photo ID". Which I am assuming the passport is sufficient, am I right?

If you have larger bills of cash that you carry, and want to get change and smaller bills on board, is there a place to do that either at guest services or in the casino? I know most everything is on the S&S card, but I might want to exchange cash for smaller bills for tips at some point, so just wondered.

Sometime in the last 50 years people across this great planet of ours have decided that "clothes" are no longer a symbol for much of anything. The majority of us are no longer influenced in a positive way by what others wear and we no longer think it important to keep up with the "joneses" who relied on clothing to show their superiority when their brains couldn't keep up with the masses.
I don't "ever" look at what people wear...I couldn't relate what anyone wore yesterday to our extended family get together. I can remember the yummy tasting food and the good conversation, the jokes and the teasing, and the way the experience made me happy. I 'think' there were some sweat pants in the mix, and an assortment of foot attire, and Grandma's beautiful necklace she received as a gift from a native American friend of hers. Beyond that, nada.
Going on vacation should be a chance for all of us to wear what we find comfortable. As long as our privates are hidden (something fancy dress for women doesn't always ensure) and we are clean and our smell doesn't compete with the food (ahh, fancy perfumes and moth balls) who really cares. And if we want nice fancy and overly expensive family photos showing us dressed outside of our normal comfort zone who is stopping us from doing that.
As in all things on a cruise....worry about yourself and your significant others and let everyone else be. They (whoever they are) can only ruin your 'vacation' if you let them.
HERE HERE!! Could not have said it better myself! Everything I have always wanted to say but couldn't quite put it into words. thank you!

Good question. I'd like to know that too. I would think you should be able to cancel it even on board at the shore excursion desk as long as it's before the excursion.

I have a question. If you don't want to dress up for elegant night, yet you want prime rib, do they ever serve prime rib at the buffet? Anyone know?

Two of our party want to bring a fan for their cabin. They have two 12" fans. They are asking if those can be checked with luggage to be delivered to the room or do you have to carry those on?
Thanks for your help.

I don't know. I know they say it won't affect Texas, but it will still be out in the gulf, so might affect traffic in and out of Galveston. Just wondered. We don't sail til 10-14-17, but was just curious as to what happens this weekend.

I was just curious with the timeline of "Nate" if anyone on the Freedom knows if it will be back on time Saturday or have they made any announcements about that yet?
-
Interesting! I commented on this thread, quoting someone else, and both of those posts are gone!?!
Yeah, same thing here.

I just had a question. We had planned to go to the beach in Nassau. If you find seashells are you allowed to bring them back on the ship and if so, is it a problem taking them through customs?

We are scheduled to sail on the Freedom on October 14th. We are supposed to go to Freeport and Nassau Bahamas, and Key West. Obviously Irma will be long gone by then, but my question is, as of right now it looks highly likely she could go right over the Bahamas and FL. If those places have a lot of damage would they change our itinerary or would we still go to the same ports, damage or not as long as they deemed them safe to dock at? I don't really care where we go, just curious as to what Carnival would do in a case like that?

Here is the breakdown on a per day basis if you pre-purchase (and you have to purchase it for the full cruise). These prices are currently showing on our upcoming Conquest cruise booking:
Social - $4/day
Value - $10.25/day
Premium - $14.88/day
The breakdown on a per day basis if you purchase on-board (you only have to purchase for as many days as you want):
Social - $5/day
Value - $16/day
Premium - $25/day
Prices subject to change and may vary from ship to ship (per Carnival's web site): https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1152
Thanks so much! I tried getting on Carnival's website and every time I clicked on the link for Internet FAQ it was giving me an error.

If some members of your party in the same cabin want to do self assist, and others do not can each do what they want, or does the entire cabin of people have to do the same thing?
-
Now that you can pre-purchase an internet package on Carnival's website, does anyone know if it is actually cheaper to do it prior to sailing? For the value package online it says $71, which doesn't seem any cheaper, so just wondering?

Following this. I have wondered the same thing as well.

Yes! Too bad the Cowboys aren't playing, but we'll enjoy seeing the Giants get their butts handed to them. :D

Does anyone know if they will show Sunday Night Football on board in the sports bar? We will be on the Freedom in October and would love to kick back and watch a game in the sports bar.

Carnival 'Special touches' gone?
in Carnival Cruise Lines

They used to have cloth table cloths and napkins in the main dining room, and I miss that. Without it, it does take away a little bit from the dining experience. It is not enough of a big deal that I will complain about it to them, or choose not to sail Carnival, but I do miss it. I do miss the twice a day cabin cleaning, but again, not a huge deal.
