  1. This may seem like an odd question. But I'm looking for anyone who has been on the Freedom in the Chic dining room, with YTD.

I have seen seating in the Posh restaurant with bench type seating against the wall, and chairs on the other side of the table. Does anyone know if they have seats like this in the Chic? And if so, can we request a table with that seating every night? TIA!

  2. That all sounds fantastic! They have both! We will probably eat BBQ a lot, but my daughter has been bugging me forever to try Sushi, and I see on the menu they have California rolls, so that's on my bucket list. One last question though for those that have been there recently. We have a couple ppl in our group going with limited mobility. And I don't remember on the Magic when we went up to the Italian place, if there was an elevator that goes up there. We walked up the stairs, but if there is no elevator to get to the BBQ place, 2 of our party won't be able to make it. So if anyone can answer that question too I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

  3. I've seen lots of posts in the past with complaints about inadequate A/C in cabins. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I've never experienced it, not even in a balcony cabin, which is what we always book. I have to think some it is a personal preference thing, like food. Some folks keep their homes at seventy degrees or lower during the Summer and their bodies have acclimatized to that, while others keep their thermostats on seventy-eight and have acclimatized to that. I'm thinking it is the people used to living in a super cold house that take issue with the A/C in their cabins. Just a theory. I could be wrong about it I guess.

That's kinda what I was thinking. If that is the case, I will be fine, but a few of my travel companions will be miserable.

  4. I have heard a few people state that they have had problems with the A/C on various ships. We are sailing on the Freedom in October and wondered if anyone recently off the Freedom had any problems with their cabin A/C working properly and if the other areas of the ship were comfortable or not? Thanks!

  5. We had this problem on the Ecstasy years ago. I took an extra canvas folding chair. The kind that folds up and fits into a canvas bag. I stuck a luggage tag on it and had it delivered to the cabin with the rest of our luggage. I used it out on the balcony, and folded it up and stood it in the corner of the room or slid it under the bed while not being used. Was a great solution. Just don't leave it out on the balcony if not being used.

  6. I have a cabin booked for three people. The third person is now not sure if they are going. We are looking for someone to help cover the 3rd persons spot, but now having much luck. The third person knows that they will not get their money back. My question is that if she doesn't go will we be better to just her not show up? And I paid for the cruise with gift cards, so how would the taxes and whatever else that might be refunded?

This happened to us in 2015. We did not want to cancel this person before the cruise, because we were afraid if we only had 2 people in a 3 person cabin, they would change our cabin. So he was a 'no show' at check in. They refunded the port fees and taxes to my debit card (which is how I paid for the cruise) by the second day on board. We received a letter in the cabin stating this is what they did.

  7. I have a question for anyone who has done this before. I have enough fun points on my MasterCard to redeem for $100 on board credit at this time. There will be 4 of us staying in the same cabin on the same booking, but each of us will use a different on board account. When I redeem my points will it go to that booking or specifically to me? How will I be able to tell if it was applied specifically for MY on board account. We received a $50 OBC for that booking when I booked the cruise, and it shows under the booking information but it does not apply or show it specifically for any one person. Does anyone know how this works? TIA!

  8. I had a 5 day booked out of Mobile for April 21, 2018, it is now an 8 day. I did not receive an email or call about the change, I was just checking for and rate decrease because booked early saver. My booking was gone so as I was looking to see what happened, I found the cruise was now 8 days. Called Carnival and they said it just changed and I could either pay more and go on the 8 day or could find another cruise to take. I just wanted to be refunded what had already paid and I would look at what other cruises I would like but of course was told it would be $50 per person penalty for booking under early saver. I read that if itinerary changes for reasons within Carnival's exclusive control, guests will have the opportunity to cancel without penalty. They are saying the cruise wasn't cancelled just changed and I would be the one cancelling if I want a refund. Any thoughts on if this should be a complete refund even though booked early saver?

Wow. We were booked on a 5 day on the Triumph back in 2015. They changed it to a 6 day, added an additional port to the other two already on the itinerary, and changed the ship to the Magic, at no extra charge. But we got an email as soon as the change occurred and were told that if for any reason we could not do the 6 day we could cancel with no penalty, and we had booked early saver. Needless to say we were ecstatic!

All we had to do was change the night before hotel reservation in Galveston that I had already paid for through Kayak that was nonrefundable. But I talked to them and when they could not move us to a different night, although they didn't have to, they did refund the $ and we booked elsewhere for the new night. I called Carnival to see if they would reimburse us before I got it refunded, since the change in schedule was on their end, but they said they only did that when you had air fare booked, not for hotels.

  9. Hey, All; This is my first time dealing with "staggered check in". Where on the Carnival web site will they post the selection times? I have completed my online check-in and it was not available then. We're under six months now and when I check it, I'm not sure that I'm looking in the right place. I'm checking where it says edit check in, is this the right place? Any insight would be Greatly Appreciated! Thanks, and Be Blessed! Mikey:)

I had the same question. I would see on here people sailing in December were already picking their check in times, but I am sailing in October and still no option. I finally called Carnival. I was told that the option shows up immediately if you have priority boarding (suite, or diamond or platinum). Otherwise, it will show up about 3-4 months prior to your sailing date. So keep looking. I was told when you click on the online check in and you see the list of names on the booking on the left, and then under that you stateroom preferences etc. It will show up right there when available. She also advised, even if you have FTTF which allows you to arrive any time regardless of your check in time, to choose the earliest possible check in time, as this helps keep it more even and not have everyone show up at once.

Hope this helps! I'm still watching for mine for October. I check back every day or so.

  10. Where do you hide your credit card to open your safe? In talking with friends we all leave our safe opening card in our underware drawer so our spouse can gain access if we aren't together. If we are all using the same hiding spot it doesn't seem very secure!! Any ideas?

    Thanks!!

I am a little confused, and maybe things have changed since I last cruised in February 2015, but you now have to have a card to open the safe? They no longer use 4 digit codes anymore?

  11. The bad news is I wasted your time posting about my experience. We're platinum (special, right?) hence I can get a time slot.

The good news is it doesn't matter since you wisely got FTTF. Pick any time you want and then go right to the left side of that long line and go in the Priority entrance. Galveston often doesn't have the sign in a very visible place, but it's right by the stairs where the parking shuttles drop off.

    Enjoy your vacation.

Thanks! Never a waste of time posting about your experience! Thanks for the help. Wish it was today that we were checking in!

  12. What I was told, may or may not apply...sometimes your browser does not refresh but reverts to a cache page. Try opening using a different browser or clearing your cache/cookies. Mine didn't show at first on Explorer but when I opened the website with Chrome, it was there.

I tried that, didn't work. So I called Carnival. She said that unless you have priority check in (i.e. suite, Diamond or Platinum) then it will not show up until 3-4 months prior to sail date. Even with FTTF, it will not show up before then. So that would make sense on the randomness of why some see it and some don't at certain times. I hope that is true! lol. We do have FTTF so will be keeping an eye out for it the closer we get.

  13. We cruise from Galveston in Dec , We have all ready picked a check in time

This is what I DO NOT understand. We sail from Galveston on the Freedom in October, and it still has not showed up. Some people say it shows up about 90 days prior, but obviously that's not right if you have already picked yours for December. So there really seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it's available to pick. So frustrating!

Does ANYONE know the actual answer to this?

  14. I will be on the Freedom in October. Does anyone know if they are doing this on the Freedom? Also, what is the benefit from this. I always liked getting my S&S card at check in and having it in my hand when I walk onto the ship.

Also, what is to keep just anyone from grabbing your cards and using them to charge drinks etc, before you can get to your room and get them yourself?

  15. I have read that you can request a specific table and/or waiter each night for YTD. My question is, to they have for anyone recently on the Freedom with YTD, is YTD dedicated to only one restuarant, and if so which one, Posh or Chic. If they have it at both and you are assigned to one or the other, like the early and late dining times, do they have designated areas of each one that are specifically for YTD. The reason for asking is I hope we are assigned to the Posh dining room as it is at the back of the ship, and would like to request a table at the back by the window if possible. Thanks for your help. Never had YTD before so not sure how it works exactly.
