The azipods seem to be a never ending issue.

Well that can't be good.

IMO it's more about the butler than location. I was in an H4 steps from the haven last May and my butler was so bad that I took 3/4 of his tip and gave it to Edgar the maitre d' at the Haven restaurant. My best butler was in a forward penthouse. Unless you have mobility issues I say pick the location you like best and hope for a great butler!

What is the cost for unlimited internet? When I go to the NCL site I just see the price per day. I'm on the Jewel in July and would like it for the whole 7 days. Is it just 29.95x7?

I booked April 2015 and have the UDP. How does this work, will I have a different sticker then the SDP? Does the UDP cover sushi? It's so confusing because they changed the plan. It seems that before July 2015 it may have covered sushi but now the sushi is just discounted? That stinks. Thanks

My daughter was 8 when we stayed in the haven on the Gem and loved the pool. Yes it's small but there is hardly any room in the main pools with people stuffed in them. She spent hours each day in that pool and had a blast. She even had her swim mask :). While there is no restaurant in the Gem haven you can have your meals in there which we often did for breakfast and lunch.

Does this cruise need to be taken by May 2016 or booked by then? My friend has this credit too. Thanks

Is this new? When I was in a suite on Breakaway last year, there was a DVD library, not free pay-per-view.
Not sure if this is new. I was on a few weeks ago and this is what my butler told me. Now could it be wrong info? I suppose it's possible. The ppv was indeed free though. The DVD player is still there, we played our own.

On the newer ships like Breakaway there is no DVD library. Instead, you get free pay per view type movies. Whereas a non suite might have to pay say $12.95 for an in room movie, a suite does not. It's automatically $0.00 on the order screen. The only negative was there wasn't a huge selection. The positive, they were all newer releases. Hope that helps. :)

We got off gem may 2. Sonia was HD, Gio was cruise director and christine was assistant CD. (Love her!) Carlos as Concierge and Lars as captain. We will be back on Gem aug. 1 and I know Carlos will be off again. :(
Does anyone know when Carlos leaves the Gem? Thanks!

I agree with your comment about the Breakaway theatre seats, HORRID! Welcome back :)

I have gotten 2 upsell offers from 2 different TA's in 6 years.

Even haven guests were having a hard time getting reservations if that tells you anything. The specialties seemed full the two times I dined in them.

Sandblasted indeed in Bermuda! I have never been in so much pain on a beach. Fourth time there and have never experienced winds like that. Re: food, I walked out of the buffet with food and had no issues. We stayed in the haven and it was great. However, we had cabins 16106, 16108, 16110, and 16104 and you can hear lots of noise late at night and starting around 5 am. Chairs, footsteps, it lasted a while each day. The enjoyment of the haven overshadowed that annoyance but I might try other cabins next time.

Sailing this Sunday on the Breakaway and just discussed this incident with my 10 year old. Tough conversation, but important for her to know why I always hover over her in the pool. Prayers and condolences to the family, what a tragedy.

Thank you so much. :) We also have an upcoming H4 on the Gem. Could you please tell me how lunch works if you'd like to eat there in the Haven? On the Breakaway, they had a menu, and they would take your order and serve you anywhere you were seated; however, I know the Gem doesn't have a Haven restaurant like the Breakaway does, so I wasn't sure how it worked.
Thanks again for your pictorial review!
They have menus set at the tables and the courtyard butler takes your order. You can eat at the table, at a lounger or in your cabin. This is for breakfast and lunch.

There usually aren't upsells until a week before a sailing. Even then they usually have to call you.
-
With just 6 days notice they should be reimbursing all flights and giving 12-18 mths for rebooking. I would be beyond pi$$ed over this. I just booked a 10k cabin for July 2016 to Alaska. Seriously rethinking my choice.

Can you post a link to where he said that about increasing the bottom line?

Thanks for the info. We will be going to Bermuda in June.
Had to chuckle at the NCL comment. :p
The timing is somewhat amusing. The old 3 day pass was $35 so there goes another $27 of my dollars. (3 of us) the pass is still a good value though IMO. Probably not great if you live there however.

For those planning to visit Bermuda this summer just an FYI prices have gone gone up on passes (Well as of tmrw)
Pass Fares (valid for both buses & ferries in all routes and all zones)
Update: Last fare revision effective April 1, 2015
Adult Pass: 1day-$19, 2day-$31.50, 3day-$44
Child (Age 5-16) Pass: 1day-$9.50, 2day-$16, 3day-$22
Lol, as far as I know NCL isn't involved with this particular increase :p

The last time I took Amtrak from Albany to croton was on a beautiful weather Saturday afternoon
The train was 2 hours late just getting to Albany. Just sayin
Is there a much earlier crack of dawn train you can grab or a bus?
Sent from my iPhone using Forums
I agree with the above. I would take an earlier train. 3/5 of my train trips to NYC have been delayed. I go in the night before now.

I agree it would be nice to get both. I think the one benefit of the latitudes offer is you do get an extra 1 point per night of that cruise towards your latitude level. I'd rather have the free drinks, but you never know I guess.
Gem 5/21 sailing..NOT going to GSC
in Norwegian Cruise Line

What kills me is who cares what the $50 obc is used for. It's their fault the island is being missed so if a guest wants to use the $50 towards service charges, big deal, let them. Stuff like that just irks me.
