  1. There are no mini fridges on Fantasy class ships, and they don't get very cold anyways. However, here is the info from Carnival's site regarding this. You can rent a medi-cooler, or bring aboard your own cooler (within set size limits).

    https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3373/~/storing-medication

    STORING MEDICATION

You will need to bring enough medication and medical supplies to last the duration of your cruise. Our medical centers cannot refill prescriptions or provide the use of medical equipment. If your medication is a prescribed narcotic you must hand carry the original container and prescription. Please hand-carry your medications and medical supplies and not place them in your checked luggage.

    Diabetes/Medicine Storage

Staterooms are equipped with mini bars which are designed to maintain the temperature of beverages. Please do not use them to store medications that have specific temperature requirements. Should you need to store medicine that needs proper refrigeration, medi-coolers are available on board in limited quantities, and on a first come, first serve basis; a $70.00 USD refundable deposit is required. If a medi-cooler is not available, our ship’s Medical Center will arrange storage - please contact them once onboard. Note: A small, personal-sized cooler no larger than 12” x 12” x 12” for the purpose of housing medications is permitted as carry-on luggage.

For your reference, only the following ships have mini bars: Carnival Breeze, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Dream, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory, Carnival Legend, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Magic, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Pride, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Valor and Carnival Vista.

If your medications are injectable, please contact our Housekeeping Department for a Sharps container, if needed.

If you are traveling by air, please contact the airline directly for their policies.

  2. We have done Halloween with Aquafest and thought it was great. We recently booked for the 2018 Halloween cruise. They offer a good value because they often have prices lower than the cruise line is offering, along with some extras. Lots of nice folks travel with them. Unlike the full ship charters, there are children traveling on the ship along with many regular passengers. But many events are private and well orgnaized. I really recommend them.

Thanks for your insight, that's the one we're looking to join in on! We thought the price was a bit high, but then saw the OBC and drink package included, and we're happy now!

  3. Make sure you look into Global Entry, for $100 you get Global Entry and TSA Precheck. They are slowly introducing Global Entry lines at cruise terminals, but for an extra $15 why not?

I've always wondered the same: why not? Then when chatting with someone in the PreCheck line they mentioned they don't have a passport, so can't do Nexus/Global Entry. As a Canadian, I forget how many Americans don't have passports!

  4. Thanks a lot! I have global entry so that should help me pass through security with a breeze, at least it usually does.

I have that also, it's amazingly helpful. Saved us a lot of time at MCO last time. Sounds like a good plan!

  5. Thank you all! We decided to book the flight and scheduled a shuttle service. Hopefully all goes well.

Sounds good! To help speed things up, make sure you do online check in either on a ship computer or thru the airline's app.

If you don't have TSA Precheck, you may want to look into paying for expedited security, if your airline offers it. I know Spirit and JetBlue too. It'll take a little worry out knowing you'll have a quick security screening. Not required, but just depends on your comfort level and such.

  6. We're considering cruising on one of Aquafest's Halloween group cruises. Wondering if any fellow Cruise Critic members have sailed with them before and could share your experience? Wondering how you think they stack up in terms of value. I like the look of the events and such that they offer and it looks to be a modest price. Haven't done a hosted group before, but have done one Atlantis cruise. Thanks in advance!

  7. I'm flying in a day early than my cruise. Hopefully that'll help with the unexpected issues.

I believe the question here was about a flight from Orlando after a cruise. Good on you for flying in a day early for your sailing though, avoids a lot of stress!

  8. If you can move it to the group (because I'm not sure if you can), I'd imagine your PVP would lose any control/commission over the booking. Meaning you'd need to deal with whoever is running the group, and will not be able to call CCL or your PVP to make changes or enquiries on your booking. Whoever is running the group will be your designated agent.

Best way to be sure is to just ask your PVP though, be honest with them. A good PVP will be honest in return.

  9. Here is what's on GoCCL, which I'd trust as being most accurate:

    Cabin 8357 1A 185 sq ft

    Beds: 1 twin-1 upper

    View: no window or balcony

    Bathroom: shower-toilet-sink

Features: Interactive flat-screen TV, telephone, 110 AC current, individual climate control, hair dryer, safe, mini fridge, 3-closets, chair and coffee table

  10. I've had very mixed experiences, and find it depends on a number of factors. Generally we find people will walk past or stop by on night one or two, and then decide based on that. So we always try to make it on night one and two, even if its quiet. More often than not, others trickle through. On some cruises we've had quite a crowd by mid to late week, when others realize its become a place to be! Sometimes its a bust completely, but we make the most of it and enjoy a cocktail anyways. We find them generally less busy when the meet up time is early, not at a popular bar, and on busier itineraries.

I do hope they keep them in the agenda though. It doesn't take anything to run the event, and we've certainly met some great friends at these meet-ups.

  11. You can get a wake up call through your cabin phone. We always bring a small travel clock, because we like to have one in the room. Be careful if you're using your cell phone alarm, in case you cross any time zones as it may impact when your wake up call comes through!

  13. I have a review posted, we sailed Sensation not too long after dry dock on March 13th. Not sure if I did it correctly but hopefully the link shows up :)

Amazing review and pictures! Thanks so much for sharing this. We're booked on the Sensation in January, first time on a Fantasy class ship, and eager to see the renovations. Glad you enjoyed it :)

  14. I stayed in a wheelchair accessible rooms a couple times and there was no ledge. The room, bathroom and shower are all in exactly the same level on the ship's I was on. I would imagine that the Vista would be the same way.

They've asked specifically about the Havana Cabana rooms though, not about the Vista in general. To my knowledge, there are not any accessible Havana cabins. Regular Havana cabins are hard enough to come by!

  15. Question - so when they cancel your cruise do they put you on another ship at the same time or is that credit used for a cruise at another time?

Apparently we can book a "comparable" cruise with our rate protected, so I assume that would be any other 4n sailing. Then we'll have an OBC of $25pp applied for that cruise. Though if we cancel, I'm not holding my breath on seeing that OBC. Up to us to decide what to do though, the letter says we can call Carnival for assistance, but I know what's available, just weighing some options now.

  16. We just received word that our Jan 4 2018 sailing on the Carnival Vista has been cancelled, as the ship is now scheduled into dry dock for the month of January 2018. Apparently letters started being sent out to guests last night, if you're thru a TA it may take another day or two to get yours, as always. They've offered us $25pp OBC as a gesture for the hassle. Not sure which sailings are impacted by this, but hope not too many people are inconvenienced.
